Several weeks ago, there was a rumor making the rounds of a new wrestling promotion created by Tony Khan, who is the co-owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. It was also noted that The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, and more could be involved.
The latest update on this situation is the fact of some recent trademarks that were filed in early November by All Elite Wrestling, LLC that was done from 1 TIAA Bank Field Drive in Jacksonville Florida, which is where the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium is located.
All Elite Wrestling AEW Double Or Nothing AEW All Out AEW Tuesday Night Dynamite ALL OUT Double Or Nothing
Now obviously this is all very far off but a few interesting facts and possibilities to note:
1) Khan has a lot more money than Vince McMahon which is a major factor when acquiring "real estate" in business.
2) This could be the biggest competition for WWE since WCW assuming they get a good TV deal.
3) What happens if AEW gives us a better product than WWE? What will WWE do?
4) If Tony Khan goes the Ted Turner route for AEW, the star power could easily be on par with WWE or maybe even greater.
EDIT: Well the first AEW Show has been announced and it will be called Double Or Nothing. I'm actually kinda stoked for this. I see big things for these guys in 2019. Hopefully the wrestling landscape changes for the better.

Its very intereating word is Jericho and JR are involved some how, Jericho has denied it though so I don't know what to make of that.

If the companys happening, good luck to them. I just dont see it being anything that WWE will fear in the long run.

Didn't Khan try to buy Wembley recently but pulled out at the last minute? Khan is filthy rich. If he can get a decent production going with good talent, I don't see why not. Vince doesn't have crap on Khan money wise.

either way, exciting news. hopefully leads to something - with the bucks success in hot topic selling shirts, and the success of ‘all in’, someone with major investing money like Khan may take interest.

I would love for some serious competition to come along.Although I feel like in today's wrestling landscape, there'd be some sort of cross promotion deal as opposed to talent jumping ship.

I wish them the best of luck but WWE has history. That plays a big factor why they're still around

None of this matters if they dont have a TV deal I would rather see someone do it on a different stage like YouTube or Facebook. Something that tons of people are on daily that would make them easily just as beloved than WWE with the right marketing behind it if they managed to be relevant and push new boundaries in their product.

Real competition for WWE is what we need for another boom period in the business. You know what, i hope Im wrong too, but when it comes to new promotions that look like high hope, they end up failing or not being that big of a blip on the radar. Thats why i only wish they succeed as a wrestling promotion. At this point, the last thing i worry about is whether or not they're competition for WWE

There is no competition for WWE here's why...
1) TNA & WCW both had larger financial backing (Panda Energy & Turner) then WWE did and both still failed.
2) TNA landed multiple TV deals and WCW literally had their own 2 networks...and both still failed.
3) TNA & WCW have both at some point put on a better product then WWE has...and both still failed.
WWE is simply on another level that nobody is going to catch just by throwing some things together and wishing for luck.

The only way they have a chance at competing with WWE is if they could land CM Punk.

Like said above, they can be huge, WCW in their prime big, but it's undeniable that WWE is too big of a brand now to be overtaken. They've dominated almost 20 years with no competition, which has burned the name into peoples brains. They can become a more successful promotion than WWE but the WWE name alone will outpower them. The only way i see them beating WWE is if they grow big enough to buy out WWE from Vince, which is highly, highly unlikely.
WWE is a house hold name for anything wrestling now. If you asked a non-wrestling fan what wrestling is, they'll say WWE. I've got friends who have never been wrestling fans who see something even resembling a fight and say along the lines of "That's some WWE sh*t over there"

If they land some big names, they could maybe come as close as when TNA landed Hogan. Otherwise I don’t think anything BIG is gonna happen.
TNA, LuchaUnderground, WCW all had a few big names and all failed.
