All Elite Wrestling is steadily picking up momentum as the New Year approaches and it looks like another company wanted to be ‘All In’ with their inevitable launch. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription included), “forces” were looking to sell IMPACT Wrestling to AEW, to which it was turned down. The report from Dave Meltzer stated that with The Fight Network losing UFC at the beginning of the year, Anthem still has good reason to keep IMPACT around. The move from the 8pm-10pm timeslot to Friday’s 10pm-12am was strategic to prepare for WWE’s SmackDown Live move to the Fox Network in October. As previously reported, IMPACT Wrestling will be leaving Pop TV to air on the Pursuit Channel after the ‘Homecoming’ pay-per-view event in January. I think this story is bogus.
Why would you sell to AEW when you could be selling it to WWE and be getting a far better price?
It’s only a matter of time before Anthem bins Impact off. The promotion generates zero income from live events and merchandise anymore and has a crap TV deal. Yes, they are the second most-subscribed wrestling YouTube channel (for now) but you need a decent product otherwise the channel will just get overtaken.
I think Aries, Bourne and Morrison will leave in 2019. I think 2019 will eventually see them with the first roster they’ve ever had with no ex-WWE names on it.

I think the story is bogus cause these reporters are acting as if AEW exists right now based on trademarks filed. There hasnt been a formal announcement on AEW starting up yet. About Impact, i really hope they dont close. Its like every year we predict Impact closing and it never happens, so im gonna take it as they're gonna be just fine

That's assuming WWE is still interested. I highly doubt they would be interested in anything other than the video library and Tessa Blanchard. Maybe Pentagon Jr. Maybe. Plus their crap TV deal is on a channel that Anthem has an ownership stake in so that should lessen the financial burden a bit. I'm not sure that I totally believe the story either but it certainly seems plausible. They might get a better money offer from the Elite -- assuming I'm right about WWE only wanting their library -- and more of their roster would have a better chance of landing a job.

The know it's coming and they tried to lure the creators/top talent away because they don't want the hassle of competition.

It would be much easier for WWE just to purchase the entire company rather than pick apart the parts it wants. I believe they will always be interested in having TNA Wrestling on the WWE Network considering how many big names TNA has seen. The problem with them only buying the tape library is that it makes a really weird and blurry area surrounding trademarks. They will absolutely want to license TNA on their merchandising to coincide with the Network, such as action figures and video games, so much so that WWE flat out buying TNA covers every possibility. It would be funny if they did some kind of invasion angle, like it was some sort of plan all along for AJ Styles to take over WWE.

One of the last things Dixie Carter attempted to do was sell the tape library to WWE. That's primarily what I'm basing this on. Plus I really doubt that if they did buy TNA that they would keep it open. There's no reason to. It's not in NXT's league and it isn't even as big as the other indie feds that WWE partners with. Why give an irrelevant company the rub by bringing them on TV and making their "stars" look like they are on the same level as actual stars when there are other companies that can give them credible talent? And that's not a knock on anyone in the Impact roster. That is completely a shot at 15 or so years of mismanagement.

Aries is already gone, and he was dead weight with his attitude. Bourne isn’t even one of their major stars overall, the product wouldn’t be at a major loss without him. And Morrison, while very likely branching out to MLW and others, I think is very happy/comfortable with the way impact uses him. so I think there’s no real basis for this. also, Don Callis is obviously very tight with Omega, The Bucks and Cody. if you don’t think he’s heavily in on the development of their new promotion then you’re fooling yourself. for impact to try and possibly sell off the tapes and integrate is believable to me.

The way Aries rocked up to tapings to hang out a couple of months ago makes me think he isn't done. In regards to Morrison, I just don't get how the company makes money, I'm genuinely convinced that when a better cash offer comes along he'll take it, and I think Bourne deserves a higher pedestal on the roster and would take a better offer too. I'm just not sure what incentive having the TNA tape library or trademarks would have to AEW, they won't be able to launch a network until a couple of years down the line when there is enough AEW content to use. I do believe that Callis is very involved with AEW, but I think the tape library will be sold to WWE and then some of that cash will go to AEW.

I’m not saying if a better deal comes he may not go, but I think right now between survivor, wrestling, and his bounty hunting, he feels like he’s gaining ground. add in the fact that not only does impact employ his wife but heavily features her, which most likely would not happen in WWE, that’s gotta he a factor. also, creative control to a degree - he knows he’s not going to have to team up with Trish in any main events soon Aries lived in LA, so he was simply visiting. should impact have allowed that after his recent behaviour? no. could it mean he’s returning? well he’s no longer under contract, and I hope they’re more logical than that to bring back someone untrustable. I agree that there wasn’t enough incentive for AEW to purchase the tape library - and that’s quite possibly why they did reject the offer. as for Bourne it’s an opinion thing, but he’s essentially a watered down Jack Evans these days. and I didn’t mean to direct that Callis being involved comment at you but just saying it generally, sorry for not clarifying that.

Haha about the Trish thing and nah man it’s cool. I just have a gut feeling that something is going to happen to Impact this year. They can’t afford to poodle along on Pursuit, they need to do something substantial. I hope they can find a way up, though I just have a feeling that Anthem are fighting off temptation to sell the company at the same time. When the going gets tough, the latter will get more attractive.

Then again, Im not a fan of Cody the person, so itll be hard for me to give that promotion a chance if he's involved
