I wore high socks when I played lacrosse and basketball in high school. Wore them because of Antoine Walker and because black high socks with white cleats in lacrosse looked bad ass

Cubs signed RHP Carlos Zambrano to a five-year, $91.5 million contract extension with a vesting option for 2013.

The worst part is that the Red Sox are probably going to get a good prospect for him too.

I'm holding out hope for Ryan Zimmerman, but if Bowden is dumb enough to give us Kearns or a young arm I'll be happy.

I don't think Washington will give up anything good for Pena. The Red Sox had to get rid of him by this weekend because of Kielty's contract, so the Red Sox were under pressure to at least get something for him before having to DFA him. Either way, the platoon they'll do with Drew/ Ellsbury/ Kielty will likely be more effective.
Looking back at it now, I still think Boston should have held onto Arroyo even though he's having an awful year. At least Arroyo proved he could be successful in the AL East, plus he likely wouldn't have been more than a spot-starter/ long reliever out of Boston's pen, which I'm sure he could have handled well.

Wrong Thug. Kietley already waived his promotion thing, he said he'll wait til the first if need be. They didnt have to trade WMP, but the writing was on the wall, he was useless with Ellsbury, Kietley and Moss all ahead of him.
The Red Sox got George Kottaras, a Top 10 prospect from the Padres for Fat Wells, WMP is 25 and Bowden wants to have sex with him....the prospect will be useful, plus the Red Sox gave cash to the Nationals too.
Arroyo showed what kinda pitcher he was after the league got to see him, I am glad hes gone.

Detroit call up top prospect OF Cameron Maybin and INF Ramon Santiago. To make room INF/OF Omar Infante was optioned to AAA and they designed OF/DH Craig Monroe for assignment.
I wonder what will happen with Monroe. Im sure some oher team will give him a chance.

Well, someone was going to get the boot to make room for Bucholz this weekend. Pena was the obvious odd man out. I think he'll still develop into a decent hitter, similar to what Shelley Duncan will be: tons of power, tons of strikeouts. I'm surprised that no team wanted Pena as their DH, since that's what he should be.

Wily Mo is a poor mans Adam Dunn, he'll hit 35 home runs or so, but hes only 25 and can be hidden inf LF/RF in some terrible teams OF. Duncans a bit older and does not have the raw power WMP has.
Jim Bowden has loved WMP for years, so this is a good place for him.

Wily Mo Pena would absolutely kill the Twins, he needs to be on a team that isnt going anywhere and that he can play 400-500 AB's. He never had the minor league seasoning that he needed/needs thanks to the stoopid Yankees He can't be any worse than Lew Ford. Or Jason Kubel. Or Jason Tyner, even though I have love for him and his one home run. Regardless, it's a moot point now.
