I guess the Gagne deal is decent, but I'm not overly happy about it. Primary reason being ( obviously) that Gagne is essentially a rental. It's possible that the Red Sox could re-sign him, but I just don't see it happening.
Second reason being that we already have a very good bullpen, but the back of our rotation is shaky. Gabbard is basically the piece of the deal I really don't like losing. I don't see why we need Gagne when we have Delcarmen, Lopez, & Snyder having very good years, and Okajima/Papelbon having GREAT years. Meanwhile our rotation looks like Schilling( who isn't even back yet)-Daisuke-Beckett-Tavarez-Wakefield. Julian is Julian, and Wake has just been god awful lately( as was Schilling).
Not to mention Beltre could be something special.

Pap Gagne Okajima Decarlmen Tavarez (who should be better out of the pen) Makes a pretty nice pen for a team that has starters that can already go pretty deep into games. Good deal for the Red Sox.

Jermaine Dye will rot in Chicago, hes not young, he cant help them rebuild and if he resigns there its a bad move, the White Sox need to get young

The Red Sox are now virtually unbeatable...I mean they aren't going to win every game for the rest of the year, that is impossible, but in a playoff series with their starting pitching and bullpen they are DEADLY.
Meanwhile the Yankees did NOTHING and without Proctor I feel that the Yankees are actually WORSE than they were with him.
The Yankees aren't going to make the playoffs because their bullpen is going to just continue to blow leads and be unable to get the ball to Rivera. I would not have dealt Proctor unless I got a reliever in exchange....we have no use for another back up back up back up reserve infielder.

Mike Mussina sucks....instead of getting rid of Proctor we should have traded Mussina for a box of broken condoms.

Obviously the Red Sox dont feel like playing tonight, with Bedard playing might as well call it a night
