WFWF.com Reports!
From the office of Lila Sleater:
Whilst I don't feel the need to justify the decisions of the WFWF board of directors, many have asked exactly why former WFWF World Heavyweight Champion Drakz's contract wasn't picked up and renewed again after it expired in May of this year, during his absence from the company.
It may seem on the surface like a missed opportunity or indeed a case of the company leaving money on the table due to Drakz remaining undefeated since his return to the company in 2014, but we place a larger importance on the health and wellbeing of our employees than we do making money, regardless of what the likes of Frank Lynn and Joe Bishop seem to think.
It's well documented that Drakz broke his back only 4 years ago and, perhaps less known, throughout his last run he was under close supervision by the WFWF doctors. Routine, weekly check ups and external second opinions became the norm for the man who held our most prestigious championship. There was a plateau in the severity of his condition for a number of months and it seemed we could step back our restrictions on his wellbeing, but then Superbrawl happened.
Trace Demon happened.
Michael Kyzer happened.
Drakz has been out of action since the end of 2016 and at this point, regardless of how well he believes he has rehabbed and healed up, we're simply not willing to take these kind of risks anymore with one of our more experienced superstars.
We don't want to take anything away from Drakz's legacy, in fact if anything we are trying to sustain it. If we keep him out of the ring, give him time to put some years between himself and in ring competition, then who knows, maybe he can become a trainer in our developmental system, or even lend his 13+ years of experience in a backstage role. Surely both he and the fans can see why either of those choices is preferred to seeing him stuck in a wheelchair or worse?
Until then we wish him all the best in his time away from the WFWF and we hope he finds peace and good health in the years to come.
Unfortunately we would also like to remind him that he is not permitted to enter any WFWF run arenas, board meetings, conventions or press conferences, and he runs the risk of us pressing criminal charges against him if need be. We are willing to overlook his recent forced entry at Ashes to Ashes, but only on the proviso that it remains an isolated incident.
Thank you.
