As noted, the Hardys' TNA contracts expire this week, so they will be free agents by this Wednesday. According to a report by Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com, the Hardys will not be re-signing with the company.

The Hardys and TNA had reportedly come to terms on a new deal back in December, however they did not receive their new TNA contracts until a few weeks ago. It was noted that the contracts arrived late, likely due to the management changes in the company. While it was believed that the Hardys did not want to leave TNA due to the schedule and the creative control that they had, they reportedly were not happy with getting the contracts late and with some of the language in the contract. There is also rumored to be a clause that would require talents to have outside bookings approved by TNA, with TNA keeping 10% of those earnings.

Johnson added that another factor behind the Hardys decision was the creative control that Matt Hardy had over his character, and how it would have changed with the new creative and management team. There had reportedly once been talk of Matt having a position on the creative team, however the company ended up bringing back Jeff Jarrett, who implemented his own booking team with Dutch Mantel and Scott D'Amore.

The Hardys are the current TNA World Tag Team Champions and are involved in a storyline where they are going to different independent promotions and winning their tag team titles. The company will be taping television this Thursday through Sunday in Orlando and it was noted that the Hardys have been offered to work the taping to drop their titles, however there has been no agreement as of yet.

That's very interesting. I'm not in love with the Broken gimmick like so many others. But this will certainly hurt TNA.

I wonder if this isn't a convenient excuse to get out TNA while they are hot so they can get one last WWE run? The timing couldn't be better for a surprise post-WM Raw return to surprise viewers and give a jolt to ratings.

TNA wrestling is a joke, they let title holders leave while there still holding onto the belts.

Matt and Jeff are one of the only few things remotely interesting on impact, and they try to dick with them over contract details ??

Reby Hardy confirmed on twitter that there are some issues and they did not resign. She offered no other insight other than them exploring other options. They have PLENTY of indy bookings and could remain on the indy scene. Matt and Reby are VERY good at marketing and even Jeff and Beth have gotten a little more involved with that with their online store. I have no idea if they plan to return to WWE,I kind of hope they dont and somehow work things out with TNA.

Most of us couldnt wait till Dixie was out and LOVED having Jarrett back. But there was a time that people SCREAMED for Jarrett to be gone, way back when. Well under the JJ 2017 administration...he has failed to secure Drew Galloway and caused the Hardys to leave. WTF?!

From my understanding, Jarrett is pretty much THE guy when it comes to the inner workings of TNA. How he answers to Anthem....I dont know. But I would be shocked if Jarrett had nothing to do with talent and contracts.

IF the dirt sheets are right and this is a contract language battle over TNA needing to approve all outside dates and require that any outside booking fees that TNA gets 10%, is true....JJ is definitely involved. That was iniated by JJ many years ago and was eventually dropped some time after JJ was gone and Dixie took full control.

This clause takes money out of the talent's wallet and causes promoters to deal with a bunch of red tape. TNA is in NO POSITION to make a power play. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Ok, I thought his return was in nothing more than a creative role. Basically in layman's terms, the clause is a dick move by TNA.

Well, that's a bummer. I find the Broken Hardys to be tremendously entertaining and a highlight of TNA weekly.

Not sure where they'll end up next, but there's still much more mileage to be had with the 'broken' gimmick for both of them IMO.

Well that is the final nail in the coffin of TNA. These 2 were the last real stars there.
