He still would've mainly appeared on either Superstars or Main Event as Stardust but would have had platinum blond hair IMO. Thoughts?

I bet Cody Rhodes is kicking himself over his decision to leave the WWE. Think about it the brand split was announced days after Cody got released so the timing couldn't have been any worse.

I've actually wondered about this myself. Not sure if anything he was pitching for would have actually occurred, but i do believe Stardust would have been used a little better than he was near the end of his run. Not because of any faith put in him by creative, but just out of necessity due to roster depth. But ultimately its pure speculation.

This:Just days after Cody Rhodes was released from WWE, the company announced the return of the brand split. Immediately afterwards, fans began to speculate that perhaps the opportunities such a split would create would have led to a more prominent role for the former Intercontinental Champion, and that it was a cruel twist of fate that the news only became known after Rhodes asked for his walking papers. Not so, according to Rhodes himself. While the return of the brand split may have seemed rushed, talent already knew about it for months prior to the public announcement. Cody knew exactly what was happening to the structure of the company when he requested his release, and he made his decision based on that information. Furthermore, his fortunes weren't even going to change at all. When he heard of the split, he asked a writer if there were any plans for him after it went into effect. When he was given a flat-out answer of no, he knew that split or no split, WWE was not the place for him.

If he wasn't happy being Stardust, good for him for moving on so he could be happy. It's clear the brand split wouldn't have been of any benefit to him anyway.

Wrestling nondescript TV matches in corporate WWE versus the opportunity to spread your wings, become more than just 'that facepainted loon' on TV.
I'm glad he stepped out of his comfort zone, and wish him nothing but the best.

His daddy made a career out of going from territory to territory and doing the best he could in each promotion he was at. Now Cody can do the same, except there really isn't territories now, but there are a hell of a lot of indy feds out there that Cody can - and will - work for!

I hope he still doe something with a Stardust type character in the indys to see how he would really play the character.
