Now I saw this thread on PW Hub, and I wanted to ask the Canadians views.
Do you want to become a wrestlier? Why? Why not?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I had my first hand taste at a school last night, and I must say I was impressed with what I saw, and shown.
I can say that I'm super psyched to get into it, but not full time, I'd like to hold a more regular job - but that might change.
The people that were working with us were amazing, and I believe ScottyKage helped us learn some basic moves! There are tons of steps involved in just one simple move - and I know for a fact!
I had a neck problem for the past week, but after slowly working on some moves, it went away. It's back now, but the whole feeling that what we did last night is what is used on TV, at indy shows, etc.
Just being able to see some TNA/BCW indy wrestlers in the ring for about 45 minutes, just wrestling, was amazing. We were impressed with the stuff we saw last night.
Was a lot of fun, and I cannot wait until I can get the cash!!!

Even though I am not too big of a wrestling fan now a days, I still wouldnt mind trying it out... I would probably have connections from the Hart Brothers to help me out in some sort of way... I dont think I would be too fun though, if I couldnt make it into the WWE...

I may. I don't really want it to be my way of living. I'm looking for a more secure job. I really want to just try it out though. It'll be fun, and I'd just see what would happen after that...

I'm really considering going to the Can-Am wrestling school once i'm old enough and have the money. I'm really interested in getting into the business. I guess i'll just see how it goes. If it doesn't work,i have 2 jobs to fall back on through my parents jobs.

If i go to any wrestling school,it'll be Can-Am. I'm pretty sure there's a wrestling school in London, but i'd rather take the 2 hour drive to go to a much better school.

I'd have to take an 8 hour drive to the nearest school.

There are numerous school in Ontario, very few are good.
I haven't heard much about Can-Am.
I've heard Squared Circle is the best in the province, but they teach mostly a high spot/lucha style.
Neo Spirit used to have a good Dojo, but I know they've hit some hard times lately. I'm not sure how it's effecting the school.
Probably one of the best ever in Ontario was Wrestleplex. Eric Young ran a really tight ship and was an awesome trainer.

You mean the one in Toronto that "trained" Edge and Christian? That school has really gone down hill.

Yeah, it's not run by the same people any more. The guy running it has no wrestling experience and is just living off of the name. From what I've heard, they required full payment upfront and you have to sign a contract stating that you will only work for them.

I'm hellbent on training when I'm old enough. When I turn fifteen in February I'll get a job. (Cause I'm pretty sure for most places you need to be a minimum of 15 to get a job) From there I'll save up my money because obviously University/College+Wrestling School=One broke ass.
I have no idea which school I will choose yet. I would like to stay in Canada but if I have to move to the states I would be willing too.

Anyone have a rough idea on how much a wrestling school costs?

Isn't it a couple thousand dollars after all is said and done?

Ive been thru training, and it cost me 2500 dollars total, I have had 6 pro matches and 2 battle royals. A knee injury put me out for a while so I probably have some ring rust, but if there are any promoters reading, IM me and i will send you a tape, I'm told that I am a great heel. And for the time being, I will work for free

The school was fine, trust me, thats where i got my training, and the trainers were good. Hell, one of the owners of the gym actually talked Sylvain Grenier into coming in to give us a talk before raw last august. It was awesome, I remember he complimented my dropkick. Sadly, the main trainer fell on some hard financial times and the gym isnt run like it used ot be. But the training was fine.

I've been training and wrestling for afew years now, I'm not sure the total of matches I've had, maybe about 70? I went on the Northern "Death" Tour which is where about 20-25 of matches were from.
I've been having a blast, if it wasnt for wrestling I wouldn't be able to have gone across canada to places like Sask. Manitoba and Ontario!
My training in total cost $2500, and I now train free, (Or well, work in a ring free) for MPW (Monster Pro Wrestling) in Alberta.
It's been great, and I've met loads of people that I admired from WWE and the Indys.
