Figured we might as well get the Euros thread up and running since nearly all the major European leagues are over now, plus with international friendlies beginning being played. Thoughts and predictions? Gotta back the world champions Germany. England to go out at the QF (again) to either Belgium or Portugal looking at the groups.

First thought is that the postman better hurry the up with my tickets, bet he's nicked them. Think France will win it. To me, they have the best team in depth and its in their own back yard.

I want the republic of Ireland, but France have a great squad with the likes of lloris, pogba, griezmann and martial, plus home advantage so I think they'll win it this year

France to win (Kante) and I've got a feeling Wales will get further than us.

Hopefully everything goes well and there are no terror attacks. Everything else is secondary.

What Games you got mate? I'm heading out to Lens on Opening Day, then staying in 6 Cities over 12 nights. Have Albania v Switzerland in Lens, Turkey v Croatia in Paris, Ukraine v Northern Ireland in Lyon, Ukraine v Poland in Marseille, and Italy v Republic of Ireland in Lille. Can't wait to get out there now.

Everyone is up in arms about Drinkwater being cut but more has to go into the decision process than "did he have a good season?".
Does he fit into the planned system? Has he played well for England? How much international experience does he have?
The likes of Henderson, Barkley and Wilshere can all be considered fortunate to be in but those three, despite a mediocre-at-best season, all check the above criteria more than Drinkwater.

Before we move on from 'Does he fit into the planned system?', we should probably be asking whether or not the planned system - and the players that are apparently best suited to it - has even the faintest hope of achieving success.

That's up to Roy Hodgson to decide, and that's how it should be. He's probably forgot more about football than we'll ever know.

Also people saying "Why risk taking players who aren't full fit? It never works out ya know!"
That may be true, but why is such a big deal being made of England doing it when lots of other countries are doing it and nothing gets made of it? Wales with Ledley, Germany with Schweinsteiger, Portugal with Ronaldo.
English people are a moaning bunch of bastards, I'll tell ya that.

I think Roy's putting a hell of a lot of trust in Henderson and Wilshere, not slating him for choosing them but I'd of taken the extra midfielder and kept Sturridge away just because they can never seem to go through a few games without picking up something.

Only one of them is likely to start anyway so I can't see it having that much of an impact. I think Wilshere will probably get the nod because he plays pretty well for England, starting alongside Dier. Then ahead of them Rooney, Alli and either Sterling or Lallana. Unless Roy is feeling really brave and decides to start Rooney even further back in midfield like Van Gaal did in the FA Cup final.

I would have taken Drinkwater but then I'm not English, so I don't care.
For Wales, only 7 defenders seems a risk. Especially if we play 5 at the back. If we get a red card and Collins gets injured then we have no defenders on the bench. I would have taken Matthews. Also, I don't follow them in their clubs so I don't know how well they do but I would have thought Emyr Huws would be better than David Edwards.

Would have personally taken Drinkwater over Barkley.
Got a feeling there may be a shock winner. Not got a country in mind, Poland or Austria maybe.
