Hey this is my first post here although ive been lurking around these boards for a while and i gotta say, some of the customs ive seen on here are really impressive with my fave being the nWo Buff Bagwell Well this thread is just to ask on how to improve the painting of this figure as im still a beginner Im trying to make an RA DX collection so if anyone can point me in the direction of a custom RA Road Dogg it would be much appreciated I know how cruel some of you on here can be so dont forget, this isnt finished and all im asking is how can i improve the paint, especially the back of this figure Anyway onto the figure itself

Of course he was part of DX... Geez. I would suggest a head swap from the earlier angry Gunn head (what was the series that had the ultra poseable parts? ) The paint looks like it needs to be cleaned off and reapplied. Use Testors Acrylic or something comparable.

Use Testors Acrylic or something comparable. That is the second time ive painted it after stripping it And it has improved but theres still a bit of sloppiness that i wanna eradicate lol

I would suggest a head swap from the earlier angry Gunn head (what was the series that had the ultra poseable parts? ) The paint looks like it needs to be cleaned off and reapplied. Use Testors Acrylic or something comparable. that would be the Finishing Moves or Final Count, depending what time period in the series we're talking, line. still one of my favorite Gunn figures ever. He didn't have that goofy "standing straight up" hair that anyone with long hair did, so it turned out to be a great figure. And unlike the Austins and Rocks that had the same luck, Billy Gunn actually had a move that benefited the extra articulation. he could do an honest to god Famouser. I'd suggest repainting and trying again on the paint. maybe even sanding off the paint that's there or removing it with nail polish remover. that paint looks really lumpy. It looks like it didn't quite get stirred well enough. It also looks particularly harsh around each of the logos. I'm not sure if you tried to paint around the original figure logos or not, but if you did, don't. it just looks rather harsh. I'd also try to get rid of that extra paint on the torso if I was you. really not too bad for a first though

Yeah thats my main problem, when i apply the paint its just forms lumps
And yes i tried to paint round the original logos, i eventually want to use decals but i havnt researched them yet
And the paint on the torso isnt a problem to take off so i can do that with ease

Try pouring out a little paint, and mixing it with just a little bit of water. It may help it go on smoother. Don't add too much though.

The paint job is sloppy. It looks too rough and try to avoid getting paing on his legs. It is your first so practice makes perfect. Keep it up.

i'd suggest the paint needs thinning down a bit, and make sure it is acrylic paint you are using. oh and by the way i'm working on a dx road dog at the moment.

not bad, but like everybody says, the paint is a lil thick. what's the brand of paint you're using? a lot of people including myself use testors acrlyic. make sure its ACRLYIC and not ENAMEL. i had problems before though, especially trying to use yellow, because those colors are pretty light, you have to apply several coats. but try it again, and don't pick up your fig for at least 30 mins. make sure its all dry!

Thanks for the positive comments people And this is the paint i use Just go to Wal-Mart and buy like $0.95 acrylic paint from the craft section, In little bottles. Also tape the edges of wear you don't want to go. I.e figures waist and below his tights. This will avoid you getting paint on parts you don't want. Also even cut out little pieces of tape to just cover the lips, after you can go back with a smaller brush and touch up what the tape covered. Also use a steady hand and take your time. It's not a race to put out new customs.
