New America Pro Wrestling Final cards for 16/01 and 17/01 announced!
New America Pro Wrestling have announced the cards for the second weekends worth of shows in their “Road to Champions Glory” tour as the tournament to crown the inaugural IWGP American Heavyweight Champion continues.
The big matches for the 16th are of course the two headlining tournament bouts as in the two top bouts the only undefeated competitors in the tournament will try to continue that streak with AJ Styles battling Katsuyori Shibata and IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura clashing with Chris Hero. Outside of these two matches Michael Elgin will face Rob Conway and Tetsuya Naito is pitted against Karl Anderson.
Elsewhere on the card Togi Makabe will take the place of Tomohori Ishii as the latter rests his injured shoulder ahead of New Japan’s New Beginning shows, debuting in New America against Mario Bokara. Elsewhere the Time Splitters make their New America debut against fellow Junior Heavyweight standouts The Young Bucks.

Enjoying this so far. Not a huge fan of the tournament right away but at least you establish your top players. Conway should even be near this tournament but I guessed you booked him because he shows up sometimes in NJPW. Maybe he can leave after a few cards, there's plenty of talented guys around. Think AJ would make a good champ. Haven't seen much of Hero since he returned to the indies but what I have seen has been meh. Looking forward to the Bullet Club versus Time Splitters and Sabin, great booking.

New America Pro Wrestling: Friday 9th January 2015…I had no idea you were even back! Haha. This concept seems intriguing, slightly realistic too. I don’t have a big problem with this, but the name is a little corny despite its obvious affiliation with New Japan Pro Wrestling. But, it’s still American-esque and I dig that. NJPW World broadcasting is also a plus, I like that contextual information. Good write-up style here. Matt Striker and Steve Corino on commentary sounds okay – but aren’t they both colour commentators? You could really use a real play-by-play here. I wouldn’t really call Striker or Corino that. I had no problem with the live show notes in terms of crowd type and attendance level, but could have done with an idea of where this show was being held specifically. Chris Hero defeating Rob Conway was a fair way to open up the show, although I’m personally tied on you having a tournament to crown the first IWGP American Heavyweight Champion on the very first show: I’d have held at least one trial show before jumping the gun. Nonetheless, as much as I dig Hero, hasn’t he gained a lot of weight? Shame, really. It holds me back on my idea of Hero being a good choice for first champion. It was good for Hero to get Conway out of the tournament though, since he is already NWA Heavyweight Champion after all. Taichi defeating Matt Sydal and ACH made for a fun three-way showcasing what will probably become the junior heavyweight division in the near future. This felt like almost strictly a spotfest for the main part, however. Mario Bokaro and the Mighty Don’t Kneel defeating Bryan Myers and the Heavenly Bodies…I only knew of Myers in this one, frankly. I recommend you start doing character profiles like I have in my NXT for stars like these who people like myself may be unfamiliar with. It seemed fair from what I read, though. Tomohori Ishii defeating Michael Bennett was fine in a solid bout, and a good win to run into the intermission. I’m really hoping that Michael Elgin doesn’t win the IWGP American Heavyweight Championship. I can’t get behind the guy anymore. Elgin defeating Karl Anderson takes out one member of the Bullet Club…are any other members around? Harry Smith Jr and Lance Archer with the save for Elgin was good, I suppose this will somehow lead to a six-man tag team bout at a future show maybe? It was nice to see you feature in an American-style angle into this though. Not bad at all. Doc Gallows and Bad Luck Fale defeating the Killer Elite Squad was a good follow-up though. I wouldn’t refer to the Bullet Club with having an ‘nWo style’ though – bad idea bringing people to draw a comparison. I personally believe that whilst Bullet Club do have nWo and D-Generation X-esque tendencies, they are their own faction. AJ Styles being accompanied by Jeff Jarrett was crazy to read for a second there. A good win for Styles against Tetsuya Naito, although I would have liked to see Naito in this tournament for the semi-final round. Styles is an obvious candidate for the inaugural IWGP American Heavweight crown, which makes me hope you plan on surprising me, to be honest. I’m glad you didn’t push it with Jarrett costing Naito the match, too. Would have been one heck of a fun match. And finally, Shinsuke Nakamura defeating Katsuyori Shibata would have made for a fantastic main event, and in my mind Nakamura is one of the top commodities in NAPW right now. A great opening show. I’m hoping you do more in future shows to make these names stick out at readers who may not follow the Japanese product or include character profiles or something to that degree. Some news updates would be pretty cool to see as well. Just about anything, really. The time is still young, as is this diary. Make this work. I’m looking forward to reading more.

New America Pro Wrestling In Conjunction with New Japan and Global Force Wrestling January 16th 2015
-- PRE SHOW NOTES --
- A good 2,000 people in attendance tonight, attendances for the first three shows have held pretty steady at this size and that’s a really good thing for New America.
-- MAIN SHOW --1. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Michael Elgin Defeated Rob Conway (w/ Bruce Tharpe) in 12:54 with the Revolution Elgin Bomb. Not the best match to open with, Conway continues to be the odd one out in this tournament and nobody really believes that he’s even going to get a point on the board. In contrast Elgin is hot right now and he came off looking strong here including a lariat to Bruce Tharpe on the outside to the delight of the crowd, before putting Conway down with the Revolution Elgin Bomb. **
2.) Time Splitters Defeated The Young Bucks in 11:43 with the I-94 on Nick Jackson. From lacklustre to exhilarating, these junior heavyweights put on an absolute showcase of why they’re two of the top junior teams in New Japan. Fast paced, high octane action with the odd hint of comedy and plenty of high spots to boot. The crowd ate it up and were enthralled by the ending stretch. Time Splitters ended up taking Matt Jackson out with their own double superkick and then the duo pinned Nick following the I-94. **1/2
3.) Ricochet Defeated El Desperado (w/ Taka Michinoku) in 13:24 with the Benadryller. From one solid junior match we move onto another, though this one really got by on the strength of Ricochet’s performance. Desperado is solid in his own right but without Suzukigun backing him up he struggles to stay relevant. Still a few more performances like this and that might change. The two went all over the place with a few great spots on the outside including Ricochet hitting a 450 on Taka from the ring apron. Ricochet’s great start in New America continues with another win thanks to the Benadryller, he’s quickly becoming a favourite among the fans too. **1/2
4. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Karl Anderson Defeated Tetsuya Naito in 16:36 with the Gun Stun. In contrast to the opener this match showed what the tournament was all about as these two really went out of their way to make themselves look like stars. Naito was outmatched in terms of strength but he made up for it with his speed and his willingness to take risks including a dive through the ropes that took Anderson down. With things on the outside Anderson took control thanks to a spinebuster onto the ring apron and from there Naito struggled as Anderson focused on the back, eventually putting Naito down with the Gun Stun on the second attempt to notch his first victory in the tournament. ***1/2
--- Intermission --- 5.) Togi Makabe Defeated Mario Bokara in 8:53 with the King Kong Lariat. This one was all about Tobi Makabe, but it actually showcased what New Japan, and now New America, do better than anyone else – squash matches. Yes this was a strong display by Makabe and he was never going to lose but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t still a solid match that saw Boakara get plenty of his own offence in on his much more experienced opponent. Bokara has a long way to go but matches like this are a good start and Makabe is always going to draw a following thanks to his violent, brawling offence. A good debut by Tobi, expect him to do a lot more given the chance. **
6.) Doc Gallows Defeated Lance Archer (w/ Davey Boy Smith Jr.) in 13:32 with the Gallows Pole. Gallows was flying solo for this match as tensions escalate between Bullet Club and Suzuki-Gun. After a tense first weekend this continued in this singles match as Gallows and Archer tore each other to pieces in an outright brawl. The crowd ate it up, they’ve seen plenty of wrestling and junior action tonight and they were ready for a fight. Gallows wasn’t going to let Smith’s presence at ringside distract him from getting the job done as he fought off everything that Archer threw at him and put him away with the Gallows Pole. **1/2
- Following the match Davey Boy Smith Jr. enters the ring and squares up to Gallows, signalling that he and a recovering Archer want to challenge him to a tag team match. Gallows stared him down and then left the ring but as he backed up the ramp none other than Bad Luck Fale appeared, the two giant Bullet Club members agreeing to face the Killer Elite Squad in what can only be described as the largest tag team match possible!
7. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Shinsuke Nakamura Defeated Chris Hero in 16:42 with the Boma Ye. Chris Hero has picked up some flack in the past few months about being out of shape and sluggish but there was no sign of that here because he came up against someone that let him just slug it out. Hero’s always been at his best when he doesn’t have to worry about pulling his punches and Nakamura is the King of Strong Style so there was no worry about that here. Elbows and kicks were thrown all over the place and the story of the match became about who could hit their signature strike first, Nakamura with the Boma Ye knee our Hero with the Burning Elbow. Both men attempted it numerous times but every time they were met by a counter. As frustration built their attempts became more and more desperate until the unthinkable happened and Nakamura countered the Burning Elbow with… a Burning Elbow of his own! Nakamura followed that up with the Boma Ye knee strike to get the pinfall in an absolutely outstanding finish. ***3/4
8. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Katsuyori Shibata Defeated AJ Styles in 17:54 with the Penalty Kick. Well this one was going to have a hard time topping the physicality of Nakamura / Hero but they went out there, gave it their best shot and did a damn good job while they were at it. Styles is clearly being groomed as the poster boy for New America, he’s already got the fan base and he’s won around the New Japan higher ups since the 2014 G1 Climax, but he found himself with a roadblock in the form of Shibata who seems to be getting a notable run of his own right now as the IWGP Tag Team Champion continued to build momentum tonight. Shibata keot Styles grounded for most of the fight with stiff shots, making sure that Styles got frustrated as he was unable to use any of his high risk offence. That frustration led to AJ making mistakes which left him unable to finish Shibata whenever he got the opportunity. He nearly had Shibata set up for the Styles Clash but Shibata countered with a heel kick to the skull that dropped Styles and left him wide open for the Penalty Kick as Shibata got a massive victory in this tournament. ***3/4

First off, the concept for the diary is unique and I am liking it, but the name "New America Pro Wrestling" isn't something I'm keen on. If it's just a branch of New Japan Pro Wrestling, I think a name like "NJPW America" would have been a bit more suitable. It would also never happen, but the beauty of a diary is being able to do things like that. First, I'm glad that Michael Elgin defeated Rob Conway here. I understand that Conway has been made out to be a big deal in NWA, but I've never been able to get into him. I've also never been a huge fan of Elgin, but he's the better of the two. I imagine that Time Splitters and the Young Bucks would be a fantastic match up, having seen them work each other previously. If/When Tag Team Titles are introduced, I would guess that these are the two teams who will be feuding over them. A solid win for Ricochet. I very much enjoy his work and would like to see him become a focal point of this promotion. Karl Anderson going over here was fine. I don't expect him to win the tournament at all, and really, the only thing I could see him doing of note would be he and AJ Styles creating dissension in Bullet Club, but I'd rather you stay away from that. Heel factions having internal issues isn't something I care to see. Guess this match's purpose was to give Togi Makabe a good showing. Fulfilled its job, in that case. Doc Gallows defeating Lance Archer was for the better, in my mind. I prefer Bullet Club over the Killer Elite Squad. While on that note regarding both units, a tag team match of large proportions should be solid. Surprise that it's Bad Luck Fale who Gallows is teaming up with, but I guess Machine Gun is too occupied with the tournament. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Chris Hero just sounds Godly. Loved the finish with Nakamura having to resort to using Hero's own maneuver before striking with the Boma Ye. Lastly, the rightful main event with AJ Styles and Katsuyori Shibata. Wrestle Kingdom 9 was the first I saw of Shibata, but I was instantly gravitated to him and checked out more of his stuff. I do love that he was able to the victory over AJ Styles, who should have no problem remaining at the top of the standings. Styles and Nakamura are the only two who I can see ending up the inaugural champion. MAYBE Shibata. A good show overall. Again, the concept, while unrealistic, is great and I look forward to more.

New America Pro Wrestling In Conjunction with New Japan and Global Force Wrestling January 17th 2015
-- PRE SHOW NOTES --
- Roughly 1,800 people in attendance tonight, crowds continue to remain strong for New America’s debut tour.
-- MAIN SHOW --1. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Karl Anderson (w/ The Young Bucks) Defeated Katsuyori Shibata in 14:42 with the Gun Stun. Both men knew this was an important bout in this tournament, they’re both lagging behind the leaders slightly but a good run in the latter half of the tournament could easily put them both into the finals. That meant we got a competitive, fast paced and stiff contest that saw absolutely no mercy given with their strikes. Shibata has picked up a lot of support from the American fan base attending the tour and they were firmly behind him here, popping loudly when he set up for the Penalty Kick only for Nick Jackson to cause a distraction. Jackson got nailed with a high boot for his trouble but the distraction let Anderson take control and eventually put Shibata down with the Gun Stun for the all-important points. ***2.) Taichi (w/ Taka Michinoku) Defeated ACH in 07:43 with Black Mephisto. The junior division in New America continues to heat up ahead of next month’s Rise of the Super Juniors show. Taichi has caught on here in New America thanks to his flamboyant persona, even more so than in New Japan, and he continued to impress in this one, boosted by ACH’s flashy offence. ACH came close to pulling off the win but missed on Air Jordan and Taichi capitalised with Black Mephisto for the win. **3.) Togi Makabe Defeated Michael Bennett (w/ Maria Kanellis) in 09:56 with the King Kong Lariat. Tobi Makabe’s New America debut was well anticipated and he didn’t disappoint, the Unchained Gorilla living up to the name and going all out to pummel Bennett into oblivion. Bennett hasn’t really hit it off in New America yet but he’s still adapting to the physical ring style and he looked better here. Maria is sublime in her horrified reactions to how Bennett is getting beat up and that’s worth watching alone. In the end nobody was surprised with Makabe picking up the win but you can’t help but appreciate the work Bennett is doing at getting some sympathy for the beatings. **4.) Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks Defeated Chris Sabin & Time Splitters in 10:21 when Omega used the One Winged Angel on KUSHIDA. The juniors have really tore it up so far on this inaugural tour and they pulled it off again in undercard main event. Bullet Club had a point to prove after the Bucks lost to Time Splitters yesterday while Omega was trying to shut Sabin up. That didn’t exactly go to plan as the one time Sabin and Omega went one on one in this match Sabin not only blocked the One Winged Angel but also got a very close near fall with a superkick. The closing stretch was hectic and ended with the Bucks taking out Shelley with the double superkick, Sabin taking both of them out with separate superkicks and then being thrown out of the ring by Omega. The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion then hit KUSHIDA with the One Winged Angel to get the victory but it’s clear that things are far from finished here. ***1/4--- Intermission --- 5. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) AJ Styles Defeated Rob Conway (w/ Bruce Tharpe) in 13:24 with the Styles Clash. Conway’s ineptitude in this tournament continued here and it’s starting to get under Bruce Tharpe’s skin if the arguments the pair got into at ringside before and after the match were anything to go by. Really this wasn’t that bad a match but it was all about AJ getting back into things after losing to Shibata yesterday. Things were back and forth but never really went in Conway’s favour that strongly, Styles eventually picking up the expected victory with the Styles Clash. **1/26.) Bad Luke Fale & Doc Gallows Defeated Killer Elite Squad in 14:11 when Fale pinned Davey Boy Smith Jr. with the Bad Luck Fall. The crowd were pumped for this one and it wasn’t because they were expecting a clinic. This was all about four big, powerful, hard hitting guys just throwing bombs and putting on a spectacle of a tag match and they delivered. You’re not going to see a lot of four star matches out of a guy like Fale but you put him in the ring under the right circumstances and he can really get the crowd riled up and these were definitely the right circumstances. This was just four guys running at each other, throwing each other around and hitting each other hard and the crowd ate it up because there’s always a place in wrestling for big guys to hit each other. In the end Fale showed off his impressive strength by planting Smith, who’s not exactly small, with the Bad Luck Fall for the win. ***- Following the match Bad Luck Fale isn’t done, direction Gallows after Archer as the pair look to send a message from Bullet Club to New America. As they close in on Archer a familiar man begins marching to the ring and anybody who knows New Japan erupts for the surprising appearance of… Minoru Suzuki himself! The leader of Suzuki-Gun is here in New America and he looks pissed, though doesn’t he always? Fale and Gallows see him coming and stand their ground a moment before Suzuki grabs a chair from the crowd and begins entering the ring, at which point they quickly bail. Suzuki gives the pair of monsters a deathly stare as the tension among Bullet Club and Suzuki-Gun looks set to explode!7. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Michael Elgin Defeated Chris Hero in 17:43 with the Revolution Elgin Bomb. After half a year of looking past his best Chris Hero has hit a fine vein of form in New America and he pulled out another great performance tonight against another surprise hit, Michael Elgin. Elgin has so far fit right in with the hard hitters from New Japan and has made a good run in this tournament, this match making it three wins out of four. Hero and Elgin participated in a number of good old elbow shot back and forths and Elgin learned full well that you don’t have a clash of elbows with the “K-O King”. He had better luck outside the ring thanks to a powerbomb on the ring apron immediately followed up with a vicious powerbomb on the floor that shook Hero hard. Elgin controlled a large portion of the match from there before Hero hit a rebound elbow out of nowhere and both men dropped. They narrowly avoided missing the count and things opened up a bit more. In the end Elgin blocked a Burning Elbow and hauled Hero up for the Revolution Elgin Bomb. He hit it, got the pin and with it takes joint second place in the tournament. Great match, match of the night contender for sure. ****8. IWGP American Heavyweight Championship Tournament) Shinsuke Nakamura Defeated Tetsuya Naito in 17:33 with the Boma Ye. Sorry Elgin and Hero, you’ve been topped. Tetsuya Naito gets a lot of stick for his fall from grace over in New Japan after the 2013 G1 Climax, but he’s still a fantastic talent and Nakamura is Nakamura. These two were just straight up gold and probably narrowly missed out on a match of the year contenders spot, if only they had a bit more time. Things started off quick as Naito went on the early offensive, they played up Naito having scouted Nakamura and not wanting to give him an opening to hit any of his strong style offence. That didn’t last long as Nakamura hits a big running boot out of nowhere. Nakamura takes control but Naito soon comes back into it and there’s a great back and forth as both men end up just beating the crap out of each other, Naito even hitting one of the best bridging German suplexes in recent memory for a close two count. We hit a point with both men taking turns kicking each other in the chest as hard as possible which leaves both men’s chest red raw. It isn’t a pleasant sight. Naito won the exchange but couldn’t lock in the Pluma Blanca. They continued at it until Naito got the upperhand again but got cocky and went for a Boma Ye of his own! Nakamura ducked underneath, slapped the taste out of Naito’s mouth and then hit the Boma Ye for the victory! When Naito came too he was disgusted that his cockiness cost him the match while Nakamura goes four for four and tops the block with an outstanding match. ****1/2Position | Competitor | Points | 1. | Shinsuke Nakamura | 8 | 2. | AJ Styles | 6 | - | Michael Elgin | 6 | 4. | Karl Anderson | 4 | - | Katsuyori Shibata | 4 | 6. | Chris Hero | 2 | - | Tatsuya Naito | 2 | 8. | Rob Conway | 0 |

New America Pro Westling. Interesting. In conjunction with New Japan and Global Force. This is my first read of this, so lets delve in to it. I like how this is going to be a big crossover of sorts with NJPW and American wrestling, it is kind of like NJPW coming to USA like Bullet Club has, ain't it? Cool. Karl Anderson beating Katsuyori Shibata, I'm glad with. I'm a fan of Anderson and the Bullet Club, not to an extreme degree but I do dig them. Next up, would have liked to have seen a win from ACH, but hey, some Japan guys got to win. Mike Bennett! Loses. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks versus Chris Sbin and The Time Splitters would be sweet. Haha, get it? Sweet? Too sweet? Glad to see an intermission put on things with us having so many lengthy matches, clearly it being a wrestling prominent show like NJPW is more than promos. AJ Styles beating Rob Conway, thankfully, since I mean, just look at him. Haha? Get it? Just look at him. Alright, time to stop with that. I expect Styles to be one of the bigger faces of NAPW. Bad Luck Fale and Doc Gallows defeating the Killer Elite Squad was fine, more Bullet Club victory. Moving forward to a full on American match with big Michael Elgin versus fat Chris Hero. Poor Hero, fat and all. Definitely good with Elgin winning, I've always liked his in-ring talent. It is his character that never really has developed, making him perfect for this type of environment. Finally, a beast main event with Shinsuke Nakamura getting the win with Boma Ye. He is pretty awesome and good to see him getting the victory as the tournament continues to build up with the points system. Overall, this was a stacked up show but I expect it to be with the roster and base you have surrounding it. My only complaint is that we might be overstacking things up a bit, maybe going too lengthy with some matches? Anyway, this is kind of like a NJPW diary but it has the American twist enough to generate more interest and I look forward to see where you go forward with it.

- In the opener Rob Conway’s [0] losing streak continued at the hands of Karl Anderson [6] who was dominant in victory.
- Matt Taven made his New America debut alongside fellow Kingdom teammate Michael Bennett in a rip roaring tag team match against the Time Splitters. A back and forth contest came to an end thanks to a little distraction from Maria, who used her feminine wiles to distract Alex Shelley and set him up for the Hail Mary.
- New America’s Junior division continued to excite with Chris Sabin pinning Matt Jackson in a fast paced tag team match. All of this under the watchful eye of Kenny Omega, who viewed the entire match from the stage. After the match Sabin challenged Omega to a match tomorrow night, but Omega brushed him off without giving an answer.
- Suzuki-Gun leader Minoru Suzuki’s intimidating presence at ringside was enough to guide the Killer Elite Squad to victory. After the match Suzuki cut a furious sounding promo in Japanese, which Davey Boy Smith Jr. translated simply as “Bullet Club, time to die.”
- AJ Styles [8] continued his run in this tournament with a victory that leaves Chris Hero [4] with almost no chance of reaching the finals.
- Tobi Makabe & The Mighty Don’t Kneel proved to be an effective pairing with a victory over CHAOS thanks to one of the most devastating lariat’s in wrestling. This was none too pleasing to Shelton Benjamin who before the match declared it the night CHAOS rises.
- Shinsuke Nakamura [10] continued his undefeated run through the tournament thanks to a big victory over fellow top contender Michael Elgin [6]. In a match that downright stole the show, and probably should have been the main event, Nakamura and Elgin went in hard and Nakamura’s mouth was busted open by the end of things.
- In a clash on New Japan’s own Tetsuya Naito [4] proved that being unable to qualify wouldn’t leave him unwilling to fight with a victory over Katsuyori Shibata [6]. Naito put in a star performance tonight and Shibata’s stiff kicks always guarantees to entertain. In a post-show interview (subbed for non-Japanese speakers of course) on New Japan world Naito promised that whether he can win the tournament or not he won’t stop fighting.

- Katsuyori Shibata [8] put himself into a strong position to make the final of the IWGP American Heavyweight Championship tournament with a victory over the struggling Rob Conway [0], who found himself berated following the match by NWA chairman Bruce Tharpe.
- The Junior Heavyweight division continued to intensify as Chris Sabin battled ACH in a match with a crazy balance of high spots and surprisingly technical warfare. In the end Chris Sabin took the victory with the All Hail Sabin, but that wasn’t the end of things. Following the match though he was viciously assaulted by Kenny Omega, who left him lying with the One Winged Angel and declared himself the rightful New America Junior Heavyweight Champion.
- Jado & Gedo made another special appearance but again found themselves on the losing end of Tobi Makabe. Makabe, tonight joined by Mario Bokara, finished Gedo with the King Kong Lariat. Following the match Shelton Benjamin challenged Makabe to a mystery partner match at Champion’s Glory for revenge over spoiling CHOAS appreciation night yesterday and decides to reveal his partner right now… Toru Yano! It’s official, at Champion’s Glory it will be Shelton Benjamin & Toru Yano, an odd pairing if there ever was one, against Tobi Makabe and “X”!
- Chris Hero [4] all but ended Karl Anderson’s [6] hopes of making it to the final in a knock down, drag out contest. With both men working stiff Hero ended up with a split lip and a bloodied nose from a particularly hard boot but came back to finish Anderson off with the Hero’s Welcome.
- In classic New Japan style eight man tag team action it was Suzuki-Gun that came out on top against the forces of Bullet Club. With the knowledge that Minoru Suzuki himself is waiting in the wings to wage war on them Bullet Club weren’t at their best and that cost them, as a huge match ending brawl resulted with Nick Jackson falling foul to the Killer Bomb. Following the match Suzuki-Gun challenged Bullet Club to continue the brawl but they refused, despite Gallows insistence at going at it with Archer, but with Champion’s Glory on the horizon it won’t be long before these two stables clash once more.
- Tetsuya Naito [6] might have had a disappointing start to the tournament but he’s ending things in a big way, and theoretically still has an opportunity to advance to the finals after a victory over Michael Elgin [6]. The Stardust Genius looked very impressive here and seems to realize that he might have a bigger shot of becoming a star in New America than New Japan due to the lack of politics right now and was putting in a big time performance. Elgin continues to impress but couldn’t get the job done, falling victim to the Stardust Press.
- The main event everyone has been waiting for took place here and it was the undefeated in the tournament Shinsuke Nakamura [12] who came out on top against AJ Styles [8]. Both men are front runners in this tournament and this victory actually confirms that Nakamura will be one of the two men competing for the IWGP New America Heavyweight Championship at Champion’s Glory. Still it wasn’t exactly an easy victory as AJ Styles continues to prove why he’s such a hot commodity in New Japan right now and only failed to get the win tonight because of Nakamura’s counters to the Styles Clash. It took two Boma Ye’s to put AJ Styles away and there’s a very real possibility we might see these two face off again in the championship finals. Position | Competitor | Points | 1. | Shinsuke Nakamura | 12 | 2. | AJ Styles | 8 | - | Katsuyori Shibata | 8 | 4. | Michael Elgin | 6 | - | Karl Anderson | 6 | - | Tetsuya Naito | 6 | 7. | Chris Hero | 4 | 8. | Rob Conway | 0 |
