So I bought the Tribute for the Troops ring on clearance for $10 more or less just for the red, white and blue ropes to put on the old Jakks ring I use... I was surprised to see they are attached to one post and you can't remove them. Is it like that with all mattel rings? I never owned one before, I never knew this.
And if so, does anyone know where to get good quality replacement ropes? Thanks!

All mattel basic rings are like that. As far as replacement ropes, your best bet is to try and search for or part out pieces on ebay. Hope that helps some.

I never noticed this. It is quite convenient for not losing ropes or them coming off though. That said, looking at it now, it looks like it'd be super easy to free up by cutting the turnbuckle.

I'm pretty sure the Mattel ropes would be way too tight on a Jakks ring anyways.

I can highly recommend naparo on here for ring ropes and custom ring skirts. Not sure if he does them to fit anything smaller then the ESR/RSR but its worth asking.
Ive had several sets of ropes and ringskirts from him for my ESR.
Think his username is naparo01

It's hard to do, but I removed them with my bare hands, so it is doable.

Also he couldn't just cut the ropes to the length he needs so they could fit any ring?

I was going to look at the craft store for suitable material to fix my son's basic ring - I think our cat may have chewed through some of his ropes, but I assumed I could just find something comparable and replace them....
I used to fix my old Hasbro ring ropes by just cutting them and re-tying them, hiding the knot under a turnbuckle - will this not work on the Mattel ring?
I'm a bit disappointed, I bought a Tribute To The Troops ring for the same reason - it's still in the box, but I always thought I'd be able to use the ropes as a spare set too....

Send me a PM.
