Dallas Mavericks sign Monta Ellis for 3 yrs/$30 million. To be honest, I would put him in the same category as D Wade. I mean, at the end of the day the only thing that Dwyane Wade has that he don't have is more wins and 2 championships, that's it. But as far as playing on the same level, competing every night, both ends, shooting inside, outside, fastbreak, transition, Monta Ellis have it all. One of your funniest posts eve.r

I guess desperate teams will be desperate. I'm not really sure if this does much for their playoff hopes, they're still in that 7-11 range. Calderon and Ellis backcourt? Goodbye defense.

Ellis averaged over 2 steals a game last season, and also does his fair share of blocking and rebounding.
It's still not the best signing, Mavs needed it though. Still not close to D-Wades level though, much as I dislike the prick.

Don't mistake steals for real defense. Ellis doesn't play any of that.

Don't mistake steals for real defense. Ellis doesn't play any of that. What's your definition of real defense for a guard then?

Don't mistake steals for real defense. Ellis doesn't play any of that. What's your definition of real defense for a guard then? Staying with your man, forcing him to pass and/or take tough shots. Guys that get steals usually just jump the passing lanes and lose their man at least twice as often as they deflect or intercept the pass. It's lazy and selfish play that makes life hard for their teammates.

Celtics need to get worse! this competing bullcrap. The trade exception is HUGE, but an 8th seed would be the kiss of death for the rebuild. You maybe a dick Ainge, but you arent an idiot.

I can't believe Mike Miller makes over $6 million a year. Mike Miller. It was actually seen as him willingly taking a pay cut when he signed the contract. But the amnesty waiver saves the Heat like $17M in luxury taxes, so it's probably the right move to make. I do think it's interesting though that Riley publicly said at least twice that they definitely weren't using the amnesty on him and then they did. I hope their front office is at war and will soon destroy itself.

MSG has been given a 10 year eviction notice, wonder what this means for the future of where the Knicks play.

It is one of the best run organizations in basketball and they have an owner willing to put a championship team on the court and pay to get complimentary pieces. I hope Oden come to Miami because it is worth the risk.

When I see situations like the Wizards with Wall or back with the Grizzlies and Gay. Guys who are due for an extension and the team has to make a tough call on what to give him. They're not getting paid based on what they've done, they're getting a deal based on what they hope they can become. Those are dangerous deals. I honestly think the rookie contracts need to be longer, especially when guys come into the league so young after only a year of collegiate ball. Look at Wall's first three years. He was injured for 2 and the other was a lockout season. Is that enough time to determine if he's gonna be a superstar especially when he hasn't looked the part for most of it? John Wall might live up to that for all I know but it also wouldn't shock me if he didn't either.

If John Wall can continue to play like he played last year after coming back from injury then he is totally worth the deal.
Obviously, that is the risk

The Lakers mustve came calling.wut Wall was going to be a restricted FA in 2014, when the Lakers will have all the cap space and are rumored to be going after everybody from Lebron James to Paul George. Theyll probably go after Kyrie Irving for their PG position after Nash retires.

Theyll probably go after Kyrie Irving for their PG position after Nash retires. It actually would have been cheaper for the Wizards to let him hit free agency than it is for them to re-sign him now. The Lakers aren't a threat to steal anyone's restricted free agents.
