Why don't I remember that Zelda figure, is that a recent Jakks version? Don't recall seeing it I think its wave 7. The one with Slippy, Skull Kid, Cat Mario, and regular toad. Wave 8 is the Star power Mario wave, and I found some of wave 9? Last night. Its mostly repaints and rereleases. Regular Mario, Toon Link, Blue Yoshi, Phazon Suit Samus, and Inkling boy from Splatoon I think.

That is simply beautiful and OOT Link is my favorite. Is it an exclusive?

That is simply beautiful and OOT Link is my favorite. Is it an exclusive? No. Target, Amazon, Game Stop and Best Buy all have it. So I'm guessing anywhere that normally sells amibbos will have it.

I saw them at TRU the other day. What game are they for?

I saw them at TRU the other day. What game are they for? I think they work on multiple games on Wii U and DS but I'm not entirely sure. I think you just touch the base of the figure on the pad and it unlocks content or whatever. That's all I could gather. It's my first one, so I'm sure someone else could better explain it who has actually used them.

Shame we can't get a decent OOT Link figure, the amiibo one looks great. Certainly highlights how poor and deformed-looking Jakks' attempt is.

On the hunt for that brand new pink winged Pikmin plush (!) and the DK barrel plush. They're starting to hit alongside a brand new Walgreens 2.5 incg series that has 8-bit Modern Toad, a turquoise Squid, and glow-in-the-dark Boo. All three look fantastic!

I've been a busy man. Got trophy Samus (SO AWESOME!), prototype Olimar, pink Pikmin (plush), black & white 8-bit Mario, prototype Peach, and managed to nab that Lootcrate green squid plush for only $6-something shipped!
Still looking for the Walgreens exclusives (turquoise squid, 8-bit modern Toad, glow Boo). Anyone have any luck with those?

Is there any news on this line? Man Jakks are so slow. Not that it's ever worth the wait with their ridiculously limited imagination and ambition. But still I can't help but keep an eye on this thread in the hope that maybe they'll wake up and give us a few more CLASSIC figures (i.e. NES/SNES era) before they inevitably give up on the line (likely when there is still a huge amount of obvious potential and possibilities remaining).
That said, I still can't get over how utterly terrible their classic OOT Link and Zelda look so perhaps we should just pray to the figure gods that Max Factory/Good Smile Company or Tamashii Nations would make some more classic Nintendo characters instead.

Their lead design guy bailed and works in I believe Universal Studios or something now? He's down somewhere around there. He assured us a lot of good was to come though...so we'll see.
Last bit of news we got were some line-up leaks and the knowledge that the BotW Link is coming in the next wave. Problem is, most of us haven't found the Lakitu wave yet, or the 2.5 inch Dr. Mario wave. My areas have been stuck with the sky blue Yoshi 4-inch wave and the 2.5 inch yellow Yoshi wave. I can't keep up with their bizarre naming systems so I don't know the technical names. TRU got a huge restock wave around the time Switch came out.
They're starting to do the Koopa Kids, at least.

I can't keep up with their bizarre naming systems so I don't know the technical names. TRU got a huge restock wave around the time Switch came out. They're starting to do the Koopa Kids, at least. Ugh, so typical. The line has already passed hands internally at least once before when Scott "ToyGuru" Neitlich left. Too many cooks. And none of them really seem to care about the honor of working with such an iconic brand and the huge potential of this license. And yeh we've had plenty of verbal assurances that they "want" to do lots of classic characters or are "planning" to. They've been saying that since day 1, just a pity they don't actually follow through with it. The words are there but their actions are very lacking. The rollout is painfully slow, they cancelled the 6-inch collector line before even attempting Link or Samus (seriously, what?) and just looking at the few classic characters they are doing, the very limited styles implemented and the hit-and-miss sculpt quality, it's like watching a 2 year old trying to draw up architectural plans for a house build. Worse actually because a 2 year old would probably have more enthusiasm and ideas at least. I just wish we could get more classic Nintendo figures from Figma or Figuarts primarily because of the quality, but Jakks still could do an OK job if they would just try a bit harder. I mean Figma are now doing Twilight Princess Link and Zelda, which is a start, but where's Ocarina Of Time Link? Or OOT Zelda? Adult and child versions. (And I'm not even going to acknowledge Jakks' pathetically piss-poor attempts at these). Where's Link To The Past Link? Or at the very least a companion Zelda to the Link Between Worlds Link since the design is reminicient. Or the NES artwork style Links. And how about classic NES/SNES Samus? Or classic artwork styles of Mario? Cape Mario? Raccoon Mario? Or the rest of the Mario family like Toad or Princess. How about classic SNES StarFox crew? Or the F-Zero drivers, SNES or N64? Or some F-Zero cars even. More of the Donkey Kong family? And Pokemon, man there is massive potential there to do some Gameboy based figures like Red and Blue, the other trainers, the gym leaders and all the other characters. Plus obviously all the monsters in their original game artwork style (i.e. different to the anime looks). The list goes on and on and on. And that's just the Nintendo owned franchises, not even touching on all the licensed content used in classic Nintendo games that they could maybe look at licensing. Classic Killer Instinct for example. And that's not even starting on the potential of classic Sega figures (Streets Of Rage would be epic!!) or classic PS1 characters (Lara, Abe, Crash, Alundra, etc) that could be made. WHY IS NOBODY SEEING THIS MASSIVE GAP IN THE MARKET??!! It's so frustrating. Granted, NECA are addressing it slightly, but not much. It's obvious there's a colossal amount of nostalgia for these classic gaming characters and I just wish we could get more figures made. End rant! (for now!)

Tomy has the rights for Pokémon. Jakks can't touch that. We don't know what franchises they can use. So many of them are partially own by Nintendo and a partner company (like Kirby). And the line likely isn't doing that well that they'd go out of their way to sign separate contracts with any 3rd party companies like Capcom. Got Meta Knight yesterday. Took an updated shot of the collection.

Well Assassin I'm ready for this freaking line to end. I've about called it quits and couldn't bring myself to purchase the 4" Squid Kid- the amiibo 3 pack I picked up back when the original Splatoon came out is enough for me on that franchise, I think.
I have (4"/6" lines)
the Ocarina of Time Line-Up (You are right, the amiibo posted in this thread puts the ugly Jakks version to shame. But it's all I've got damn it! Thanks to Breath of the Wild that whole amiibo line vanished.)
The complete Star Fox team
Mario, Friends, and baddies. I went ahead and got the Figuarts Mario and hope to replace Luigi and Yoshi with the Figuarts versions down the line if the prices lower a bit.
Samus and Metroid.
But I have no faith in what is to come. The Breath of the Wild Link looks pretty janky, and they've done so many damn repaints and reissues and bizarre choices like the black and white "prototype" variants, or the all gold "trophy" variants, and instead of focusing on first run figures of as many of the franchises as they could- we've seen a ton of different colored yoshis. Some weird Mario choices, including the regular suited Mario with flat hands. Because no way could they have just given us hand swaps in the same pack.
I am ready for a new company to take a stab at the Nintendo license. Jakks started out promising but with the caveat that is was freaking Jakks. They have lived up to their name. After the pitiful showing at SDCC this year I figured I would finally give in and give a little rant.

We just lost Walmart. They're all clearanced out and reports are going around that it's no longer being carried. Combined with the absolutely dreadful distribution this year (we STILL don't have that Dr. Mario/Larry Koopa 2.5 set at retail aside from Nintendo World in New York!) and the flat SDCC presentation/reveals, I wouldn't be surprised if the line fades out by 2018.
Some of this is just the market - they can't keep making new molds if sales are sluggish on things as it is - but some of this is on them. Not capitalizing on Breath of the Wild and making sure that Link was out by now is typical Jakks mismanagement. Re-releasing the same product to the point of them warming everywhere and over-distribution of characters like Fox and that damn raccoon Animal Crossing plush is on them, too. I never minded repaints and reissues if they made sense, but so much of the time they flood the pegs with stuff people didn't need more of and then they underproduce the things that sell. They finally are re-releasing that Tingle in that Zelda 5-pack, at least.
Watching these new games come out, from Breath of the Wild, to Arms, to Splatoon 2, to Hey Pikmin, to the upcoming Metroid, and watching Jakks not have anything planned to coincide with their releases is mind-boggling to me. All of their Splatoon stuff is based on the 1st game, and the pink Pikmin plush used its wings and flew off the shelf despite Jakks re-releasing the red figure a dozen times and not bothering with the others that still need figures. I can forgive Metroid II since that was probably kept close to the chest at Nintendo, but it's still another release they're going to miss out on.
It's not even a case of "well, the line is going slow at retail" - we know their plans for the year through SDCC and through leaks, and they seriously had NOTHING planned this year for these games. Mario Odyssey comes out in a few months, and they won't have anything ready for that, either. The only timely thing they did was the Splatoon gun and Link bow. The line would do way better if relevant figures were on the shelf mixed in with a few old school things for older collectors like many of us.

Jakks is a company that should never have existed but lucked upon the WWF license when the company was at its lowest point and happened to be there for the boom period and that absolutely made them. And here we are with Nintendo, and they have the license as the company is going through somewhat of a renaissance with hot new properties and renewed interest in the old through new games for a hot system....
and this is what we get.
It reminds me of 1997 when I didn't even get a Jim Neidhart figure during the hottest feud in the company in years with the USA/Canada stuff yet I have a Justin Hawk Bradshaw, Savio Vega, and Disciples of Apocalypse.
Jakks is typically tone deaf to their toy licenses and will probably always be that way.
