Boots on Basic vs. Elite figures

Does anyone know if you can swap out the boots on the Mattel Basic and Elite figures? Can you only swap out Basics with Basics and Elites with Elites or are they interchangeable?

You can't put Basic boots on Elite legs. The pegs are different and it doesn't go in all the way.

Basic boots don't fit on elites but elite boots fit on basics. I wish they would of made them interchangeably.

You can't swap the boots but if you don't mind losing one of the knee joints, you can swap the whole lower leg from the top of the knee down.

U can put basic boots in elites.
U just need to take a boxcutter (penknife as we call it in singapore)
and trim the pegs accordingly.
I haven't tried putting in elite boots in it afterwards though.

Elite boots can go on Basic figures but Basic boots can't go on Elite figures.

Yea mentioned above, if you don't mind losing the knee joint you can do it. Otherwise, the basics don't fit properly.

i've put basic boots on elites. everyone is right about it not working initially but if you mod it a little. it's pretty easily done. if you can swap parts, and have a pair of good scissors, you can do it.

the problem is that on the elites, the peg that goes into the boot is longer. so, after you boil it (or hairdry or whatever) and pop the boot off, the plastic should still be soft enough that cutting it should be easy enough. at the bottom of the peg there's like a cone-shaped upside down triangle thing. cut it about halfway between the widest part and the point. yes, you're altering the fig in a way that is irreversible but at the same time is completely hidden inside of the boot.

i did it to a couple early elites that had super loose ankles. i.e. E8 Sheamus. had the B7 or RRH or whatever, the boots were identical so i put the sturdier basic boots on the overal superior elite fig. only difference is that there is a visible joint and slightly less articulation.
