I still can’t belive Ricks gonna die. So dang sad. Not before giving one final Rick speech,I hope. And even as a walker,he'd probably be having eyeball sex with the camera.

Does anybody else have the feeling TWD runners and AMC are in the process of positioning FEAR as the flagbearer for the franchise going forward?
With Gimple going over to run FEAR, bringing Morgan with him, and drastically changing the show from what it was, while there seems to be turmoil ahead for the main show after this season. There must be more freedom writing and producing FEAR without worry of remaining somewhat loyal to source material. Kirkman is free to do what he wants to with maincharacters in his stories, while TV producers have to be concerned with the actors to fill those roles, paying them as their names become more elevated, working around scheduling conflicts and real-life events, all while trying to stay on time and under budget.

I got that feeling this season, especially now knowing the holy trinity of TWD is leaving.

Sad news that on the eve of the return, the actor that played Hershel passed away today.

That's sad to hear. Watching season 4 on DVD right now, leading up to the midseason departure of Herschel. Great actor who brought some real gravity to his character.

Bringing the most boring character on the entire show didn't do any favors.

Well this is the least hyped I've been about a season premiere, if it weren't for the commercials I'd have forgotten, but I'm still excited.

I just wish we didn't know about the actor departures after this season. That and the promo campaign based all around "Rick Grimes' final episodes". Instead of getting a natural storytelling progression and a shocking death, we're probably going to get a long drawn and overly dramatic death a la Carl last season. The best deaths, the most impactful ones, are the ones you don't see coming. That's pretty much already been spoiled for this season.
On the up side, if they play their cards right we could get the Walking Dead equivalent to the Game of Thrones "Red Wedding" episode. Readers of the comics know to what I am referring. That would be a helluva a way to end the mid-season finale.

Oh great political commentary. Bring on the "Make Hilltop Great Again" hats lol The show was always heading in this direction as the survivors try to build a working society. If you don't like it, you will absolutely hate where the comics have gone with the Commonwealth. It was a little heavy-handed tonight as this episode is setting up the entire season but I'm sure we'll have more action oriented stuff to come, particularly once they encounter the Whisperers.

I posted that without thinking about whether this was following the comics or not, thought it was just a shot the tv writers threw in. Should've held my thumbs too considering what happened to Gregory lol Yeah the preview for next week's episode set up for some walker slaying for sure. And prisoner Negan's season debut.

I thought the first episode was great for the season. However, Maggie has never been viewed as a badass to me. She's nothing compared to what Rick has done or can do.

I think that will be where the tension between them will come from. Maggie getting too big for her britches, believing her own hype, trying to put forward a strong face to maintain control at Hilltop. Rick giving her thoughts of taking over the reigns last season then unilaterally sparing Negan set her off, not to mention having Lil Herschel to protect. Could she be a good leader? I would've liked to have thought so, eventually. Guess we won't get the opportunity to see...

Daryl talked more in the season premiere than the last four seasons combined.

Daryl talked more in the season premiere than the last four seasons combined. Getting him ready to take over as head honcho. I'd support it a whole lot more if this was the season 2 or 3 Daryl.

Yeah, back when he actually had some sort of character other than 'grunt, shoot arrow, make stupid impulsive decisions'.

So that’s how Rick goes out? Damn not even heroic.. Judging by the previews he'll get his chance, leading the herd away from the group. Looks like we will see a half-dream, half-reality episode to send him out. He'll hold out long enough to meet up with the rest in the end I feel. That rickety a** bridge they've wasted this entire season building will come in awfully handy...
