I've had the game for twenty-four hours and haven't had a single desire to play it today. That's bad.
Connected Careers just doesn't cut it for me. It's broken offline, and unreliable online. It's clunky, disorganized, and downright frustrating. The workaround in attempt to get a somewhat functional franchise mode still doesn't allow you to play games with a friend, leaving quick play as the only option.
Gameplay and presentation are really fantastic, but under the hood I couldn't possibly be more disappointed.
Some of the issues can be fixed with patches, but the glaring oversights are going to have to be left until next year, which is rather infuriating.
It's amazing to me that IGN gave it a 9. All I see is one step forward, two steps back, and most of the community seems to agree.

I never used fantasy draft or imported classes but I understand people missing them. I haven't delved into connected careers yet but the gameplay is much better than last year.

All of my friends who are hardcore football fans are pretty happy with the game...I'm gonna get it tomorrow, but I'm just a casual football fan. I loved MyPlayer in NBA 2k series, so I'm told I'll love the CC mode.

Spent a little more time with CCM last night, and played around with some sliders. I tend to get very little use out of me vs. CPU because of Madden's frustrating AI. On "Pro", I absolutely destroy the opposing team, usually shutting them out completely or holding them to a field goal. On "All Pro", I get beat 9 times out of 10.
So last night, for my second game in CCM vs. the Eagles (I'm playing Coach as John Harbaugh of the Ravens), I left it on pro but adjusted the sliders a bunch. I ended up having one of the most fun and competitive vs. CPU games I've ever had in any year of Madden. I made some horrible decisions on offense, and ended up throwing 3 picks, the Eagles scored on each turnover. We were tied 24-24 with two minutes to play. I was moving the ball slowly, trying to get in field goal range and run the clock down, but ended up finding a HUGE hole in the defense and running it through with Ray Rice for a 64 yard touchdown.
Eagles got the ball back with a minute or so left, drove down to my 23 yard line, and Vick couldn't connect with Maclin on 4th and 6. I kneeled it with 19 seconds to go and won, 31-24.
In-game moments like this make me love the hell out of this game. I'm still so damn upset under the hood, though.

I'm pretty pumped to play this. The infinity engine has some pretty funny hiccups, at least from the videos I've seen.

Overall opinion on this game, im quite disappointed. I loved doing Superstar mode and they completely changed the way its done. I hate that you can change the play at any given time. Dislike your always on the offense side of the camera, I sort of liked the solo shot on defense when playing Superstar.
In game, I despise how you can just get trucked by your own offensive linemen . I was a RB in High School, I would run into my Oline for leverage and kick my feet for extra yards, not bounce off them lol.
The passing is really cool in this game, you can throw to either side of the receiver which is really cool. Though in this game, they really spazzed out when you bounce off a tackler, you dont have much control and by then your 6 yards deeper than when you caught it. The tackling in general is just horrendous, infinity engine should be called the Flop Engine.
Already over this game honestly, can see myself playing Madden 12 at some point.

Well I played my first full Franchise Mode game. Eagles @ Browns. Eagles win 40-3. Vick had 300 yards passing with 2 TDs. He also accounted for 24 yards rushing and a TD. LeSean McCoy rushed for 98 yards and 3 TDs. Jeremy Maclin had 6 catches for 151 yards and 2 TDs and DeSean Jackson had 4 catches for 56 yards before leaving with a concussion. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles tossed Colt McCoy to the dirt 5 times. Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins splitting at 2.5 sacks each.
The Eagles come back home in Week 2 to welcome in Cleveland's AFC North rival, the Baltimore Ravens.

The game play is pretty sweet but like most people, I hate that there is no franchise mode. Coach mode is not the same. I will just probably play one year as coach mode and use my niners. I don't see myself playing that long.

As far as the gameplay goes, this is easily the funnest Madden I've played in years. And I say that playing by myself, and with another person. So I personally think that I'll be playing this for a while.
Now, with that out of the way, Connected Careers blows. And the achievements/trophies this year blow as well. I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm creating a new player, for each of those positions, and playing through a shell of a mode from past games just to unlock certain Hall of Famers and get a few trophies.
Beyond that, I can still see myself playing this longer than 12. I hated the pass game in 12, mainly because of the spacemen LBs, but I am in love with the passing game this year. I also love the speed change in this years game. I find myself feeling like I have more control in moving after the catch, in the running game, and in the return game.
Last night, played my first real game against my annual Madden nemesis. He selected the Chiefs, and I wanted to give passing a fair chance so I picked Brady and the Pats. 17 for 20, with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. First pass was a rather easy one over the middle to Gronk, who proceeded to stiff arm Eric Berry and run for the TD. Brandon Lloyd ended up with one TD and Welker had the other two, including a 80 yard catch and run.
I find myself enjoying defense a lot more in this year's edition as well. Instead of just playing as the D Line the entire time, I do find myself playing in the secondary more. Had 2 user picks last night alone. Which brings me to something that should have been done years ago, and I'm so glad they finally did it.
Swat and Catch are two seperate buttons. Love it.
I think personally, I find myself playing this until at least after the SB if not longer. Just not any mode outside of Quick Play and Madden Moments.

Bought this today and played one game offline so far which turned out to be quite fun. DEN 13-10 GB. I intercepted Manning in the endzone and spun my way halfway back up the field only to be called back for interference. Glad I didn't manage to run it back for a touchdown 'cos it wouldn't have counted. I was down 13-3 at the final 2 minute warning but I managed to get up there quickly and ran it in for a TD. Only option I had was to onside kick it (which I always failed at last year) and somehow won it. Damn throw was intercepted on the 1 yard line so I had to throw everything into sacking the QB for a safety but it didn't work and the CPU just ran down the clock after that.

Well, the Eagles are now 3-0 in my Franchise. A 28-7 win over the Ravens and a 36-6 win over Arizona. Up next, a battle of undefeateds as the New York Giants head down the turnpike for a Week 4 matchup that will determine - at the 1/4 mark - NFC East supremacy.

I'm still deciding whether I want to buy this now or just wait until Christmas. The fact that there's no imported draft classes is the one thing that's making me avoid this game. Also, the way some people are describing the new "franchise mode" is scaring me. Is it really that bad? Has it changed that much?

With Connected Careers completely doing away with what made Franchise/Superstar fun, and the fact that apparently Create-a-Team is gone...it's bad enough EA made it a stupid online-exclusive with that TeamBuilder crap in the NCAA series way back when...now they took it out of Madden, I don't know if I want this.
What compels to think that the fans ask for customization features to be lacking or straight up missing? It should be up to me if I want to play using a custom team from the ground up or a real professional team, not the other way around. I don't want to pay 60 bucks just to use 10% of the game.

As of right now, the only thing left in the game that is playable is exhibition.
Online CCM has so many server issues that you're taking a gamble every time you play a game.
Offline CCM AI is a complete joke and ruins the experience. No team, other than my opponents, have scored fewer than 21 points in the last seven weeks of play. No quarterback, again, other than me and my opponents, has thrown for under 300 yards a game. No elite quarterback has thrown under 450 yards a game. No team, other than my opponents, has rushed for under 100 yards in a game. I have the number #32 offense and the #1 defense by default as a result.
EA set out to make the most authentic and "true to the game" experience to date, but what I'm staring at is an unrealistic mess.

i was finally able to play the new game with some friends. I'm really digging it. The graphical glitches are just so funny, it really adds to the fun factor. Seeing guys sixty nine each other after a tackle never gets old.

I have had it now for a week and my main issue with this game right now is there is no pass defense at all. Call my CB's TOAST because they get burned on almost every single play even when I have pressure on the QB and hit him just as he releases the ball. After a season & a half my teams has had the #1 overall defense. They are #1 in rush D usually giving up less then 10 yards per game yet they are dead last in pass defense. I've tried having them press, play man or zone and it's the same thing can't stop the pass. And every single game that they have had the ball within the last minute of the half or 4th quarter they've march the field for a TD. Worse is both Matt Cassel & Mark Sanchez have thrown for over 530 yards against me after both have been sacked for 5+ times a game and between my Safties & LB's they've been picked off 4 times each.

lol. Another issue is I can't keep McFadden healthy....Oh wait that's true to life. lol But, he still shattered the season rushing records twice now with 2 games to go in season 2. (I think I'm sitting him until the Play Off's though) Seriously though with injuries how many dislocated elbows and broken collar boans can one team have? It's like a glitch where it's always the same injuries! Jacoby Ford has been on the injured list for of both season he keeps getting injured in his first games back and he wants me to renegotiate his contract now. lol
