You know i was thinking about this today, & i cant ever remember if it has been discussed on here but... If Hulk Hogan stayed with the WWF, do you think McMahon would have eventually turned him heel?? Now i will know people will point out that he has turned a couple of top guys before, but lets assume Hogan stayed full time from 93 onwards, would he have done it? How would he do it? Its just hypothetical internet talk, but i thought it may result in some decent conversation. I suppose it mirrors things with Cena today. I always firmly believed that when Cena gets past the 40 mark and all the little kids who followed him become teenagers, they will eventually turn on him as well, thus making it easier to re-invent him as a heel for a new generation. But the more time passes, the less i can see it happening. Going back to Hogan, i just don't know how he would have done it if he stayed, infact i find it hard to even imagine him staying and never going to World Championship Wrestling.

I honestly dont think so. At the same time, I think McMahon is smart enough to use Hogan where people wouldnt be rolling their eyes and getting tired of him. You have to remember Hogan went to WCW, which their fan base is largely fans of "wrestling". Hogan still had that "Entertainment" mentality so it was no surprise that he didnt last as a huge fan favorite down there. You could have easily ran Hogan as a face having through 95 until the point a Heel Austin comes in and then the two of them battling it out in a "passing of the torch" type deal. I think by 96/97, Hogan would have happily hung it up putting in 20+ years in the WWE and leaving them in great hands.

But it was a brilliant move on the part of Eric Bischoff because look at the popularity of the nWo at that time. It was the biggest thing in wrestling. The part I disagree with is Vince knowing when and where to use Hogan so people wouldn't get tired of him. Hogan could've easily become the heel (and in some instances was very disliked) while Savage was World Champ the first time. Even though Savage was on top, Vince ad Hogan wouldn't allow Hulk to be forgotten, so right there he was riding Savage's coat tails all the time. The Mega Powers? That was simply a way to keep Hogan in the spotlight by using Savages popularity. It was a known fact that Savage disliked Hulk and and even bigger fact that a lot of young talent, then and now, hate Hulk Hogan because he is a guy who can't stand people upstaging him. He and Vince managed to keep a lot of good talent down while HH was there. And now look how he is ruining TNA.

I'd be very surprised if Vince would've pulled the trigger on an Hulk Hogan heel turn.
Who knows though?

I don't think he would've turned him either. It made sense when he turned heel and joined the NWO. It wouldn't of made sense at all if he would've turned in the 'E and I'll explain why...
I see Hulk Hogan in the 'E and Hulk Hogan in WCW as two separate things. When he was in the 'E, he was what John Cena is now... just simply an unstoppable superhero. I never got that same vibe when he joined WCW, it just seemed different to me. I do not think it would've worked AT ALL if Vince would've turned him heel and I think it would've backfired very badly and actually damaged the company pretty seriously.

I've hated Hogan since the day the Mega Powers formed. Due to the fact he overshadowed Savage every chance he got. Hogan couldn't even let Savage defeat Dibiase at WM4 without his help. Then at Survivor Series Savage was beaten to the point he couldn't stand, yet Hogan gets tagged in and quickly wins the match. In a perfect world Elizabeth would have helped Savage defeat Hogan at Wrestlemania 5 that year. But as we all know Hogan couldn't let anyone look better than him. And don't even get me started about Savage's two brief wCw title reigns thanks to Hogan.

I wonder what wrestling history would look like if Hogan hadn't turned heel.
It is my belief that we wouldn't have had the attitude era if there was no NWO.
Even with the impact of Hall and Nash joining WCW, they would have ultimately fell to the Hulkster and their act would have gone stale shortly after.
I'm not a fan of Hogan but the more i think about it, the more i see how important his heel turn was.

its not unreasonable to suggest that the Attitude Era wouldnt have happened without the nWo lads.
the mega heat of the nWos success drove Vince to get out of his(very stale)comfort zone of the New Generation and start pushing the envelope.......there is NO denying that.yes he took his cue from Heymans guerilla outfit but without the pressure the nWos sucess put him under?
