So all day today on my ESPN Classic Canada channel, they have been showing old UWF wrestling that Herb Abram ran. I have to say, this is the first time I am seeing this wrestling (though I read about it years ago in PWI magazine) and it's not that bad actually.
I guess if you liked the WWF era of 1987 then you would love the UWF. It has Craig DeGeorge and Bruno Sammartino doing commentary on it, plus such wrestlers like Bam Bam Bigelow, Ken Patera, Billy Jack Haynes, Mr. Wonderful, Bob Orton, B. Brian Blair, Jim Brunzell, plus guys like Cactus Jack, Dr. Death Steve Williams, and others.
Anyone remember this federation?? And any reason why the WWE hasn't gotten it in their video library yet?? It really isn't that bad.

I never did see it growing up but Ive watched a few episodes on ESPN Classic.
I know WWE has made numerous attempts to purchase the Mid South library from Watt's ex wife/sons but what WWE offers apparently isnt enough for what they believe its worth. As for the UWF, I recall seeing it was owned by a former wrestler (name escapes me) and apparently he believes he can make more money selling it out to ESPN Classics and DirectTV, as well as making DVDs/VHSs, then selling it all to McMahon.

I remember seeing some of these shows on ESPN classic a few years back. I remember the Bill Watts run UWF which had JR and Michael PS Hayes on commentary, and had guys like Devastation Inc. - One Man Gang, Savannah Jack, Missing Link, Ted DiBiase (as a face), Jim Duggan, Hollywood John Tatum and Eddie Gilbert w/Missy Hyatt, Dark Journey, Terry Taylor, Sting, Rick Steiner, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Freebirds, I REALLY loved that league and wish I had some of that on DVD. Good stuff.

Herb's UWF was pretty cool as it was a lot of post WCW/WWF stars but they were still young and in their prime and only a few months removed from a major company run.
