Hello all, I've seen threads on here before asking what peoples favorite match is, but to my knowledge there hasn't been a thread asking what your favorite title match is. So, I'd like to know, through all of the classic wrestling, all of the years, all of the organizations, what is your favorite title match?
Mine is Dusty Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson for the NWA TV Championship. There is something about this match that I have always loved. Arn Anderson usually gets talked about as a tag-team guy and his single matches rarely get spoken of it seems.

I'd have to say it comes down to 2 choices 1. Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels- Wrestlemania 12 Iron Man Match The 2 best wrestlers on the planet going for over 60 minutes on the grandest stage of them all and it's for the WWF Championship? How could you not enjoy the crap out of that.
and
2. Hardy Boys vs. The Dudleyz vs. Edge and Christian- TLC II at Wrestlemania 17 3 of the biggest tag team of all time in an absolute classic match. I usually get my matches with these teams confused because my memory is less than stellar but did this match have Bubba Ray going from the ladder through the 4 tables on the outside, Edge spearing Jeff while he was hanging from the belt and Edge somehow not cracking Lita's head wide open when he speared her on the outside?
Another one that I'm kind of embarrassed to even mention, much less say that I enjoyed it was the Goldberg/Hogan match for the WHC on Nitro. I was a big Goldberg fan at the time(give me a break I was 9) and the NWO was huge. The streak was huge. Everything about it was great(except neither guy could wrestle) and if Bischoff wasn't so caught up in putting WWE out of business he would have had that on PPV.
Edit- One I tend to forget since I was like -2 at the time is Steamboat/Savage from WMIII. Another classic for sure.

Top of my head, I would go with Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect for the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam 1991. The two put on a great match, despite Hennig having the bad back, and it was the match with Hart really breaking into his singles career in the WWF. The element with Bret's parents in attendance was great, and Heenan was on fire during commentary for the match too. And it was a time, when kicking out of a finisher was very rare, so when Bret kicked out of the Perfect Plex, it came off like a real big deal.

Also Bret/HBK WM 12

For me, and not necessarily based on "the best" but matches I personally love. WCW: Raven vs Diamond Dallas Page - Spring Stampede 98 US Title Match WWE: Shawn Michaels vs Diesel - IYH7 Good Friends, Better Enemies WWF Title Match I also really, really, love Triple H vs Cactus Jack from NWO 2000 HIAC WWF Title Match ECW: Jericho vs Franchise vs Pitbull #2 vs 2 Cold Scorpio - Heatwave 96 TV Title Match Most of my top favorite matches are non title matches oddly enough.

The Raven vs. DDP match was great. If it's the match I'm thinking of, it's a real shame that they only allowed Raven to have a one day title reign

The one thing I remember of the match was Diesel attacking Mad Dog Vachon who was at ringside, and taking off his artificial leg to use as a weapon, only to have Michaels get it and use it instead. Thinking of that match made me remember another favorite title match, IYH Mind Games Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind.

The Raven vs. DDP match was great. If it's the match I'm thinking of, it's a real shame that they only allowed Raven to have a one day title reign Dude, I can't tell you how disappointed I was the next night when Goldberg squashed the Flock and then Raven. I have to believe that is why they let Raven come to the ring with the title at the PPV so he actually got the chance to do it. Kind of a joke really, especially since Raven as US Champion with the Flock could have been so entertaining. DDP vs Raven was easily one of my favorite feuds in WCW, if not my favorite feud. There matches were all so good imo. That HBK/Diesel match, that's the one with the sick announcer table bump, right? Yeah. Nash Jackknifes HBK through the table and the monitors and everything else from the table falls on top of him. And yeah, he also pulled off Mad Dog's artificial leg and tried to hit HBK with it, hilarious.

Dude, I can't tell you how disappointed I was the next night when Goldberg squashed the Flock and then Raven. I have to believe that is why they let Raven come to the ring with the title at the PPV so he actually got the chance to do it. Kind of a joke really, especially since Raven as US Champion with the Flock could have been so entertaining. I agree completely, instead of doing Raven vs. Goldberg with Goldberg going over the next night they could have made it into a feud going to Great American Bash. On Nitro they could have made Raven vs. Goldberg and as soon as Goldberg had him up with the spear Lodi could have ran in, hit him with the stop sign, and took the beating for Raven. Every week Raven could have cut promos calling Goldberg out and then having Flock members attack him. At some point Raven would have to get the upper hand so on a Nitro when Goldberg was walking to his match he would see say someone taunting at him, the guy would run away and Goldberg would chase him, the chase would lead to the parking lot where Raven would deck him over the head with a chair and the Flock would pummel him to the ground, Raven would then pick him up and Evenflow him on the concrete. The feud with DDP could have continued and they could have made tag-team matches of Goldberg & DDP vs. Flock members. Raven and DDP would've had their match at Slamboree and Goldberg would still wrestle Saturn. With the stipulation being that if Goldberg won he got a title shot. They then would have continued their feud into GAB and Raven vs. Goldberg would be a Ravens Rules match, Goldberg would win after a tough battle, he'd be the U.S. Champion, and Raven would have looked credible because he took Goldberg to his limit. Maybe that sounds better in my head... but I think that's how it should've been booked.

Maybe that sounds better in my head... but I think that's how it should've been booked. That actually sounds awesome. I never understood why, if they were just going to book Goldberg vs Saturn, they wouldn't put that before Raven lost the US Title? You know, since Raven was the leader of the Flock and all. That was WCW booking though, it was ratings oriented. It's the same reason we saw Golberg win the title on Nitro instead of what should have been, arguably, the biggest PPV showdown in the companies history. It didn't make a difference if Goldberg won the US Title the night after Spring Stampede or 3 months down the road because Goldberg didn't need the US title he was so monstrously over. They should have used him to put over Raven imo, but I'm insanely biased so...

I remember last time I watched that match and the spot happened, I was thinking about how simple it was but how much impact it carried. Sometimes it's the small things....
