'98-'03, '07, Second Half Last year you might be the only person ive ever heard of that liked 07'. My favorite years are 96', 98', 03' and 11'. 96' is my all time favorite though. That year gave us some great matches, storylines and future stars. The absense of Diesel and Razor along with Bret being gone from Mania til Survivor Series sucks but HBK, Mankind and Taker more then made up for it IMO.

99 and 03 are at the top of the list as whole years.
97 would also be pretty high due to alot of matches being great, but they weren't all that great.

1997-early 2001
If I had to pick just one year, I would go with 1997.

From SummerSlam 2000 to 2001... Also every single episode of SmackDown in 2009. Just bliss.

2001 because the WCW/WWF/ECW NEVER was boring. And 2006 because it was just an all around great year. Awesome build up to a great Wrestlemania and we saw alot of great PPVs like the Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Unforgiven, Survivor Series, and Armegeddon. And they managed to make things interesting without having a draft. And of course all of the WWE vs ECW gimmicks were great.

The first half of 2001 was incredible, but it tailed off near the end and especially after the Invasion ended.
In fact, most years since I started watching haven't been consistently interesting all year round. 2003 and 2011 come closest IMO.
2002 started off pretty boring and picked up by the Summer. 2004 was dull as hell in places, 2005 got good for WrestleMania-time and then dipped a bit, but the final few months were great. 2006 was good fun until after the ECW vs. WWE stuff. 2007 was awful and I stopped watching before the end of the year, 2008 I barely paid attention to, 2009 saw a slight improvement, 2010 looked to be the start of a new era, and 2011 has really solidified this new era.
That's how I'd sum it up in one big run-on sentence.
