When did The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak, truly become the streak? When did it turn into a phenomenal thing?

If I'm not mistaken at the end of beating Flair when he put up the 10 fingers

Yes, after he beat Flair they started the "streak."
It says 10-0 at Wrestlemania once he's drafted.
(P.S.: Awesome reaction.)

It is crazy to think say they had him lose at his third Mania or something that the streak would of never existed.

Wrestlemania X8 was the first I heard of it too. King referenced it at the end of the match and Taker put up 10 fingers when leaving the ring.
Up until then, it was just pure coincidence. It'd be interested what would've happened if Taker fought Sid at Wrestlemania 8 like originally planned. And obviously another close one at X7 where HHH was originally supposed to go over Taker.

I think it was when he beat Flair, but I thought some type of reference was brought up during X7.

I was watched his match at X-7 and Jim Ross brought up the fact that he was 8-0 at the event.

Never noticed it untill the Orton match but as others stated it was apparently recognized after the Flair match

That's what I use to think too, but a few weeks ago I was watching the draft show for a diary I'm working in the sims board, and I came across it. Totally unexpected and cool.

The other day I watched Undertaker beat Snuka at WM7 which started the streak. I watched the match live on PPV and have watched it countless times since.

When was the first time someone went after the Undertaker to end the streak? Orton?

When was the first time someone went after the Undertaker to end the streak? Orton? Sounds about right. I thought Orton was the guy to end the streak. If ANYBODY should have/could have ended the streak it was Orton. When he lost that pretty much should have put an end to that whole "a young guy should end it to elevate himself" rumor.

If Taker is going to lose this year anyway, which it kind of feels that way to me, I would have still let Orton be the guy to do it.

I still think his match with Edge was closer and better than the Orton match(which was also great BTW)

To have Orton end the streak would have worked best at Wrestlemania 23.
Orton could have won Money In The Bank, and the main event that night could have been Taker beating Batista for the World Title. Just then Orton's music hits, he cashes in MITB and nails Taker with three RKO's in a row, pinning him for not just the World Title, but to end the streak as well.
But Taker just doesn't know when to leave the business, even when his body is telling him otherwise.

I think Kane was the first guy to want to end the Streak.
