ok so who are we(the esteemed members of WFs classic board )going to choose to join Mr Perfect Curt Hennig in the greatest champs ever Hall Of Fame? this was easy for me Demolition all the way. yes they were created because Vince couldnt sign Hawk and Animal in 87 but man oh man did they carve out a niche for themselves almost immediately. I mean they still have the longests tag reign ever in WWF/E.....and that was during a time when the Taggers mattered to Vince and were fronting their own House shows......not like now where Vince has to ask who the Tag champs are. as heels they defended against Strike Force the Rockers Hart Foundation British Bulldogs Killer Bees then they became so popular Vince HAD to turn them.....and as faces they fought The Brainbusters The Twin Towers The Powers Of Pain The Collossal Connection of Andre and Haku. from the time they were turned at SSeries 88 they were the joint second most popular act in the company after Hogan and at some PPvs they got bigger reactions than Warrior. its a pity The Road Warriors arrived when they did because I would have loved to see Ax and Smash hammer those bungholes the Nasty Boys and Money Inc.then maybe go heel again and face the Steiners and LOD. Demolition all the way.and also they may have the best entrance theme ever.

No contest here. Besides, weren't the NOA more 90s than 80s?

I think it best to change the title to Greatest Tag Champions of all time to avoid any confusion.
I voted New Age Outlaws

Demolition.
I loved the Outlaws but they were almost by accident. Demolition was a well planned, well-oiled machine of DESTRUCTION!

I REALLY wanted to vote for the Outlaws, but I just couldn't. I had to vote for Demolition.

No contest here. Besides, weren't the NOA more 90s than 80s? I don't think either of Road Dogg or Billy Gunn were pro wrestlers in the 80's. They weren't in WWE until 93/94 and they didn't team together until 97. I honestly don't understand the Demolition love around here, but to each their own. I don't know that I can even think of a Demolition match I thought was that good outside of their Hart Foundation match at SummerSlam. Which was only entertaining because of the story. I guess maybe against the Brain Busters. I get it, their gimmick was cool, but I thought LOD did it better, I know the tag reigns weren't as good though. I don't know, not for me I guess. I just think the Outlaws were way more talented in pretty much every area I can think of, minus not having The Hart Foundation, Brain Busters, LOD and Powers of Pain as opponents, which isn't something they could control.

The NAO won their first tag team title from LOD.and feuded with them in late 97 through early 98......

It's not always about workrate/match quality though. Hogan, Andre, Warrior, etc., didn't exactly blow people's minds with 5 star classics either, but they were all very successful because they had charisma, personality, and they played their characters perfectly. For me at least, Demolition falls into the same category. They were easily one of the most over acts in the WWF during their time as a team. Check out the reaction they received when they regained the belts from Andre and Haku at WM 6. Still one of the loudest pops I've ever heard to this day. My vote is for Demolition. I really enjoyed the New Age Outlaws, but tag team wrestling just wasn't the same by the 90's.

I really wanted to vote for the NOA but like it has been said they were a team by accident. So I went with a team that was not and dominated the 80's. For me the WM 6 match between them and the CC was great. I was expecting them to be beaten down by Andre and they pulled it out. Was a happy day

I like NAO a lot, but I still can't believe LOD didn't win for the 90s. They were my pick to take the whole thing. Anway, I voted Demolition here. they were awesome

Anway, I voted Demolition here. they were awesome they won "WFs greatest ever Tag team" last year but I knew they wouldnt win this because both of their title runs were so ordinary really

Like people seem to take something away from them because they faced teams like Foley/Funk, the Headbangers, Kane/Mankind, Shamrock/Bossman, and teams of the late 90s that aren't as historically touted as teams like the HFD, Nasty Boys, and the late 80's early 90's LOD. It's really a shame that the NAO only caught the very beginning of what would become the Dudley/Hardy/E&C rivalry.

I really enjoyed the New Age Outlaws, but tag team wrestling just wasn't the same by the 90's.That is exactly what I am talking about. You are punishing a better team because you enjoyed it more when you were younger, and the other teams in the division were "so much better." Also, each teams popularity was taken into consideration in my vote. I think it's actually pretty debatable which team was more popular, given that DX was the second biggest face draw on the entire WWF card at the time behind Austin. And wrestling was at the peak of it's popularity and social acceptability from 98-01. So you are essentially saying, that because Demolition was a more popular gimmick, at least in your mind, that Axe and Smash are the greatest tag team champions of all time? I am going to say that there isn't anything Demolition did better than the NAO, from ringwork, to draw power, to being entertaining, and base my vote off of that. Voting on nostalgia is really cool and all but I don't agree with it. Just because it was good when I was 6 doesn't make it good in 2012. That is how I see it anyway.

yes it is a shame that Vince disbanded the NAO before the tag division took off again as it were.
on my dream Invasion card it would have been NAO vs Harlem Heat.both reenergised their respective tag divisions in the 90s.

Voting on nostalgia is really cool and all but I don't agree with it. Just because it was good when I was 6 doesn't make it good in 2012. That is how I see it anyway. I'm not punishing a "better" team because it is all a matter of opinion on who was the best. You make a strong case for the Outlaws. I just don't agree with it and apparently neither does several others who have taken this poll. I only brought up Demolition's popularity, because to me, your first post seemed to insinuate that workrate was the only thing that should matter when debating this topic. My vote was for the team I found to be great champions during an era, in my opinion, when tag team wrestling was at its best in WWE. The Outlaws were an awesome team, but there was very little emphasis placed on tag team wrestling in the late 90's and that is a fact. There were less than 5 established teams at any given time. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn wrestled nearly as many single matches during this time as they did tag matches. Both of them had runs with single titles while they were still considered a team. The overall differences in the state of tag team wrestling between the two time periods the teams are from is one of the main reasons I voted for Demolition. In my opinion, the nostalgia argument could be applied to anyone voting in this poll, including yourself. Clearly you are a bigger fan of the Oulaws than you are of Demolition, and whether you want to admit it or not, that probably played a major part in your decision to vote for them. When dealing with wrestlers or teams from the past, it is only natural to choose the one that you have the fondest memories of or that you liked the most.
