I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed on here or not but I was thinking if WCW had bought out WWF, what do you think WCW would have done with the WWF video library?

The same thing WWE did. Wait a few years then capitalize on it by making DVDs and such to make money.

Probably the same thing Vince did, release it in a way that makes the other guy look mediocre while making tons of money off of it.
WCW was awesome. WWE hasn't really done anything with that WCW footage imo. The Best of Nitro set should be an ongoing series, and a Best of Thunder would be ideal as well. Even if you didn't like WCW in 2000-2001, which I think what they were doing at the end of 2000 and what remained of their time in 2001 is largely under appreciated, you could still pull good moments from that time period, which WWE failed to do on their first set.
I would seriously buy complete seasons of Nitro on DVD. Especially from 97-01. I think people forget though too how much amazing NWA talent was around in WCW in the early 90's too, and all those classics with Steamboat, Vader, The Horseman, Simmons, Steiners, Dusty, even Austin, I mean there is some good crapin there that WWE hasn't even started putting on DVD. They are going to lose their audience to sell that stuff if they don't market it to my generation and older, and we aren't getting any younger.

I mean, its WCW we are talking about. They would have released 3 or 4 different versions of the same DVD, each basically the same, but the next more boring than the previous. They would have overpaid, overproduced and overcompensated those involved with the making/starring in of the DVD. There would be random celebrities involved with the project. And they would let the wrestlers write and produce their own compilation.

WCW wasn't the best at making videos IMO.
I think that WWE getting the library (even though they do make WCW seem mediocre) was the best because they understand how to base DVD's on the entertainment end. The production value is for sure better on WWE's end.
But just like others have stated, I would love Nitro DVD's from the early 2000-2001.

I for one am happy they bought the WCW footage but I just wish they would do something with it. I wish WCW was still around. However, if I had the choice of having WCW buy WWE or WWE buying WCW, I'm glad it happened the way it did. I just don't think WWE will ever give the NWA and definitely not WCW the credit they deserve. Which I can't say I blame him for since Bischoff was trying to put them out of business. |

Bischoff would've had nWo spray paint them in the middle of the ring or something stupid to boost ratings for that segment and then we would never see them again.
Period. End of story.

AOL/Time Warner put WCW out of business when they deemed wrestling unacceptable for their line of programming. AOL, with the help of Vince McMahon, put WCW out of business, no one else. |
