From the time he debuted in late-2005 until his release in early-2008, the WWE pushed Bobby Lashley like crazy. W/in 6 months of his debut he had won the U.S. Title(it still meant something back then), had competed in the finals of a KOTR tournament, and was wrestling in the main event of SD almost every week. A little over a year after his debut, he was moved to ECW where he became "The Man" of that brand and was arguably the last "legit" ECW champ. He wrestled in the most hyped match of WM23 in the "McMahon/Umaga vs Trump/Lashley" match, and then fought Cena for the WWE title in an entertaining match at the GAB 2007.
Soon after his match w/ Cena, he was injured and had to miss the second half of 2007. The WWE began hyping his return in early 2008, but all of a sudden he was released w/ little explanation. What happened? Around the time he was released Bobby claimed on his website that he didn't want to leave the WWE but had to due to "circumstances" that he could not control. Was he caught w/ roids or other drugs? It would have been his first offense so thats unlikely why he was released? Was he just talking BS and wanted to get out of the WWE to focus on MMA?
While the guy didn't have much charisma or mic skills, he had a great look and could go in the ring, putting on good matches w/ guys like Booker T, Finley, Umaga, Benoit, and even Cena. Was there ever a reason given as to why Bobby was just suddenly released in the middle of his huge push? The guy had alot of potential and no doubt was on his way to becoming a WWE Champ.

I have no idea why he was released, but it's something I always questioned too. I remember hating him in 2007, because he was all over every brand, winning everything.

I loved Lashley, really underrated. Wish he returned to win the 2008 rumble instead of Cena.

From what I remember reading in Power Slam, he wanted more money than what he was worth.

I loved Lashley, really underrated. Wish he returned to win the 2008 rumble instead of Cena. Would have been awsome to have seen both Cena and Lashley return at the 2008 royal rumble and face off as the final two. Triple H did an amazing job giving a shocked look when Cena came out. Imagine the look on his face if Lashley came out after Cena.

I remember reading that the reason Lashley left because WWE didn't have any plans for his return. Which I think is bull because WWE did an injury video for Lashley which planted the seeds for a Lashley/Kennedy feud for when he returned. I was actually looking forward to that but it never happened.
I'd say the Kristal reason is probably what I happened, I've also read that before and it makes the most sense to me.

I heard when he left it had something to do with Michael Hayes calling Mark Henry the N word and WWE taking little to no action against Hayes for doing so.

it was to do with Kristal getting sacked I believe.apparently he wanted her rehired or he wouldnt renegotiate his contract.........bye bye Bobby.
I found him good but limited.but he had some GREAT moments though.his TNA run was absolutely dire though.

I was never a big Lashley fan because he couldn't talk but I do remember him just suddenly vanishing it seemed...

They pushed him so hard and so fast that I couldn't stand the sight of him. Maybe if he came back now, it'd be a different story and I'd feel differently about the man.

The reason went as such...Krystal was supposed to do a angle with Edge as his Chocolate love bunny ( Most of the early stuff that Vickie did/when she said no they used Vickie) She had just either started dating Lashley or was proposed to by him cant remember and she turned the angle down. Shortly after she was released. When it came time for lashley to renegotiate his contract he demanded she be able to come back with him, they said no and Lashley left.

Remember when Donald Trump called him "Bobby Lindsey" in a radio interview.
Classic.

To my knowledge, it was because he wanted to focus more on his MMA career. Then he lost to Chad Griggs....... I remember really liking the guy when he was getting pushed in WWE. I also went crazy when I saw him return to wrestling in TNA. I thought he was really going to be a big time player. However, he was just so limited because he put so much focus on his MMA career.

I was so friggen happy when he left. It seems like he was gonna be the next guy to get shoved down our throats but then his injury and release seemed like a gift from the wrestling gods (not to be confused with RASSLIN GAWDS). 3000th post!

He left to start his MMA career. This upset the WWE as they were pushing him up the ladder and he just went up and left suddenly.
His MMA career failed after his 1st fight....
He wants to return to the WWE but the WWE have said they have no ideas for him/nothing for him to do PLUS he has backstage heat with Micheal Hayes. They hate each other after Hayes said quite a few racist things. Hayes (smack down script writer) still has a lot of pull in the WWE and doesn't want him back....
I think it would be great for the WWE and him to come back to the WWE. There struggling with injuries, lack of experience and main event talent.
