Lately I've been going through my DVD library, and I've been getting annoyed by poor selling jobs. I noticed a 3 instances that bothered me in the entire show, but the two I will dedicate this post are regarding Mr. Fuji.
The opening match of the 92 Rumble saw The New Foundation take on Fuji's Orient Express. The action was decent, but what killed the match for me was Owen Hart totally no-selling Fuji's cain shots, the same cain that ended many matches in the past.
Owen Hart whom at the time was a preliminary wrestler, did the unthinkable and illogical by taking the cain to the throat, and kicking out, then as if the cain were not buried enough, he shattered the cain with his shoulder and still managed to kickout.
The New Foundation went on to win, but the biggest loser to me was Mr. Fuji's cain.
The New Generation would soon begin in the WWF, and the era following it would bury many things among them finishers, logic, storytelling, highspots, and obviously the effectiveness of the foreign object, but this is an early preview of things to come, and I hate it.

Don't mean to dump on the guy but there are PLENTY of times where Owen didn't sell.
Watch the Canadian Stampede match where Austin slams Owen's leg into the turnbuckle post for more examples of Owen's lack of selling.

What irritates me is that Fuji's cain has ended title matches on major cards including Wrestlemania, and 2 brutal shots with that cain were not enough to beat a prelim guy in this case Owen Hart.

I mean if it stopped Ax,Smash,Michaels, janetty or however many others it should have stopped him.

Well Savage's elbow, if hit, was always the end of the match...until Wrestlemania 7 when Warrior kicked out after 5 elbows simultaneously.

I know what you mean, but Warrior was a former WWF Champion and billed as a super hero that channeled strength from the heavens and his warriors in the audience, where as Owen Hart was a curtain jerker at that point in his career, and no-selling 2 foreign object attacks in 1 match is inexcusable when you consider the fact that Fuji's C Dreaded cain ended so matches in the past.

One of the best tag matches ever. IMO...not even close. Consider source my friend.....Consider the source.. I as well thought this thread was about Mr. Fuji dyin, my heart dropped. As for the no sell on a cain, I really dont think it matters. Its not like it was some high profile Mania match that involved Demolition or Yokozuna. It was two curtain jerker teams that most people probably dont even remember happened.

Why would people think Mr. Fuji died in 1992, when he clearly was managing Yokozuna all through and up to 1995, let alone his HOF induction in 2007 when he was there to receive the award.
The title says "Mr. Fuji buried at 92 Royal Rumble" not that he DIED at it haha

The title says "Mr. Fuji buried at 92 Royal Rumble" not that he DIED at it haha From the main board it says "Mr Fuji buried at 92" which, i guess buried is kinda a tacky word for died but not many people know Fuji's age off the top of their head.

Sad that the Orient Express were pretty much done by that point. The Anthology DVD has a horrible overdub of their music. They only appeared at Rumble 91 as a team before 92 and Kato was wrestling dark matches with Koko B. Ware. Express were pretty much jobbers to the stars at the time and could have been in the interchangeable jobber place in the Colonel Mustafa team at Survivor Series 91. For example, Hercules can't make the show they can go with Kato or Tanaka or Haku. I guess they were put back together as a team at the Rumble to give opponents for New Foundation. Tanaka would be gone shortly afterwards and Kato would wrestle up until around the time he became Max Moon. Fuji wasn't much different than the Orient Express or Berzerker at this point. It wasn't until he got Yokozuna that Fuji finally got back on track. His guys' gimmicks couldn't communicate against opponents and Fuji couldn't really do that for them but with Yokozuna you don't need to say a word.

I think this was the New Foundations only PPV appearance too-am I right on that? Yeah unfortinately. There was a vhs that had a great match with them against the nasty boys too though. It also had a singles match of Neidhart in the New Foundation attire against Skinner. I still have it somewhere but can't recall the name of it.
