the WWF vs. The Alliance Storyline? this I dont know.Im thinking its one of two things though.... 1)Vince wasnt allowed use the name ECW hence the us of The Alliance for both squads.maybe the belts were tied up in this legal issue too?wouldnt make much sense to have the belts if ECW couldnt be mentioned onscreen or whatever the restriction was. 2)Vince just used the WCW belts and decided that the ECW belts would have been too much.

It would have been too confusing with so many belts.

wcw took precedence, ecw was their weak lackies. which is hilarious, considering the ecw vs wcw rivalry that existed for years and legit hate from the producers of either.

I remember hearing a rumour online that the night of Survivor Series that they were gonna take the WWE Hardcore Title off RVD and give him the ECW World Title. But clearly that never happened, and probably for the best.

I'm pretty confident they didn't want to overkill the whole thing.
Which is silly because they ended up overkilling the whole thing anyway.

As others stated, it would be confusing with all of those belts. WWF already had a few belts (hardcore, euro, lightweight) that were becoming obsolete or useless to a point, so it really didnt make sense to bring in more.
Plus, there is a very storied tradition with the big gold belt, so they had to bring that in. The ECW title, not so much.

I believe that there was some legal issue that prevented Vince from using them.
But like others have stated it would have been overkill. Vince was already doing a good job killing off the WCW titles that there was no room for the ECW ones. Plus Rhyno had already been on WWF TV for months so it would have been weird to have him just show up randomly w/ the titles out of no where.

Good Point As others have said it would have been way too many titles plus Rhyno would have andomly shown up with the titles, also they really didnt have any tag teams from ECW besides the dudleys who hadn't been in ECW since 1999. Also that would have ment 3 world titles 3 mid card titles and 3 tag titles

No way it was a legal issue. They had been using the ECW logo and name for months.
I remember Mick Foley cutting a promo right around Survivor Series 2001 where he was stating that there were WAY too many belts. I think they just didn't want more belts. That's why they had the unification matches around the same time the Alliance disbanded. Simple as that.

There actually was a legal issue at the time with ECW intellectual property, though I don't recall if it would have precluded them from promoting active ECW title holders. As I recall, WWE needed special permission and/or used some sort of legal loophole with Paul Heyman's assistance to use the logo on their shows and merchandise.
Remember, WWE bought WCW, but ECW basically drowned in debt until it ceased to exist. WWE didn't own any ECW assets until years later. In the meantime, ECW's intellectual property and assets (tape library being the biggest) were being fought over in bankruptcy court by numerous creditors that ECW owed money to when it folded. WWE was one of those owed money, so they might have struck a deal to lower their own claim in exchange for temporary use of the logo.
Actually, I think Acclaim might have originally been awarded the ECW tape library by courts due to money owed them from the ECW video games, and later, WWE bought it from them. I'm going from memory and haven't Googled any of this to check, so if I'm remembering wrong I apologize.

I just dont think they would have held any importance. You'd have champions from 2 major multi billion dollar companies and then some dirt mall wrestling company. One of these things is not like the others.

Simple as that. there 100% was a legal issue man.they had been using the logo on TV for months but had to stop sometime in the summer.thats why the faction was called "The Alliance" as Johnny says Heyman helped them out but there defo was an issue.
