Some guys are often talked about as being "ahead of their time"...
I don't think this fits anyone more than The Dynamite Kid. It's a shame that he turned out into more of a wrestling tragedy than a wrestling success story because Dynamite had "it". I actually missed the Dynamite era as I started watching in early 1997 but I've found myself spending HOURS watching Dynamite Kid footage on YouTube and he never fails to impress me. Had steroids and in ring work not taken such a toll on his body we may have gotten a few more good years out of him. I could watch his Japan stuff ALL DAY! Anybody else have love for Dynamite Kid? Even today in recent interviews Bret Hart states that Dynamite Kid was one of the best he's ever worked with and doesn't get enough credit.
It's kind of hard to see him in a handicap state now but his matches with Tiger Mask...classics!

Dynamite would have been huge if he was in his prime now. Problem is how many guys in the E would cry to Vince due to Dynamites strong style of wrestling? I would have loved it take Dynamite in his prime now he would tear people apart lol.

by far my favourite wrestler of all time, dynamite was the full package. love his stampede years, find them to be the best material. his feud with bad news would still be considered cutting edge today. he was absolutely action packed.
billington obviously has serious psychological issues, an eternally troubled soul.

I don't get the ahead of their time statement when it comes to wrestling, the fact is wrestlers aren't trained to be wrestlers anymore, they're just glorified stuntmen. Dynamite Kid was a truely incredible wrestler.

Dynamite Kid was a truely incredible wrestler. ...ok... I meant he brought a stiff and realistic technical style to the States back when the sleeper hold and legdrop were still really big moves at the time. Anyway, the guy is a nutcase. I saw a interview with him recently about domestic violence where he stated that he put a shotgun under his wife's chin but didn't consider that to be violent.

Dynamite has alot of problems, I think he will always be remembered for been the best. He retired way earlier than what he wanted to and I can only imagine how horrible he must feel when all his life his physical ability was his greatest asset and now he's confined to a wheel chair. Dynamite and Tiger Mask I truly changed wrestling and inspired so many wrestlers and still do to this day. I hear there planning on doing a shoot interview with him, I'm looking forward to it. I don't think we'll ever have another Dynamite Kid and thats what makes it so special, allways replicated but never duplicated.

Dynamite is one of my favorite wrestlers, When I wrestled I studied his tapes like crazy. Such beautiful excution of all his moves, and a lot of innovative things. British Bulldogs are my all time fav tag team.

Dynamite Kid was a truely incredible wrestler. dynamite WAS way ahead of his time...the kind of classics he put out regularly and style he used throughout the 80s wouldn,t be recognized for another decade till the mid 90s...and the only reason that truly came to fruition was a steroid scandal. and wrestlers are still wrestlers...perhaps wwe,s style is watered down now...but it was during the 80s for the most part too. so i have no idea where you are coming from with this. daniel bryan, a current champion, has been recognized as one of if not the best wrestler(s) in the world today.

I hate Dynamite Kid...on the same level as Chris Benoit.
Sure, Dynamite put on great matches, but he was a piece of shit. I've had the crapkicked out of me by veterans on the indy circuit, but Mick Foley talks about Dynamite breaking his jaw. You don't do that to another person, but Billington did because I guess the steroids shrank his testicles to the point that he had to do something to feel like a big man. Even Davey Boy got tired of his shit.
No sympathy for him. Karma's a bigger bitch than you, Dynamite Kid.
