Hey guys!
So when Bret Hart left WWF in 1997 to say I was DEVASTATED would be a huge understatement. I was totally heartbroken and swore that I would start watching WCW so I could keep up with Bret. However, I was never a WCW fan and would only watch the first hour until Raw came on at 9:00. I just could never keep up with their storylines or get into some of their characters. After a few months, I began to forget about Bret and left him behind for Austin, Sable, Rock, Mankind, etc.
I know a lot of people (including Bret himself) dump on his WCW run. I'm sure it left a lot to be desired but from what I understand he did hold the WCW Title on a couple occasions and even held other belts like the U.S. title right? I do remember a BRIEF period where he was in the nWo with...Jeff Jarret? I dunno, hopefully you WCW fans can help me out here. I'm just curious what all Bret did in WCW. I do know of a few good moments like his match with Benoit, the metal plate he used when Goldberg speared him and of course one of my favorite promos of all time:
What are some other GOOD Bret Hart moments from WCW?

I know he had some feuds with DDP, Booker T and Dean Malekno right?
I'm assuming there were some good matches there?
Hoping...

I enjoyed the Owen tribute match him and Benoit had, I enjoyed his world title run as well, at this point he was getting some really good momentum as the top baby face, then they just randomly had him turn heel and form the nWo and it just sucked after that.

I thought when he teamed with Luger and turned on Neidhart and Bulldog was quite memorable. It's such a shame they underused the Harts in WCW. Every week just basically incolved a dq and a run in from the hart/nwo member who wasn't in the match.

I just loved the fact I got to see him in the ring with Sting.
Also, his match with Benoit for Owen's tribute.

The few I can think of are...
- His matches w/ Benoit were all 4-5 star matches
- When he wore the metal plate under his shirt and KO'd Goldberg
- A few matches w/ Sting and DDP that all ranged from good to bad depending on how much crap WCW booked to happen in them
I remember thinking it made zero sense what so ever for Bret to join the nWo in when he first debuted, and the again in 1999. WCW had the perfect opportunity to do the nWo against the Hart Foundation but blew that chance. I always thought it would have been cool for Hart, Bulldog, and Neidhart to have come in and joined the 4 Horsemen to help against the nWo and to end the nWo once and for all w/ Sting's help.

Thanks Anvil Fan. I had never seen that clip before.
Oh, it was on Thunder.
Now I know why I haven't seen it.

There's not many but I love the El Dandy Promo, when Goldberg speared him and he revealed the metal plate under the hockey jersey, and his matches with Benoit.

Vinny Mac said it best "WCW would never know what to do with a Bret Hart" the proof is in the pudding.

I don't think Bret's WCW was that bad. I remember being really excited when he came in and he worked with a lot of guys like Sting and DDP that I wanted to see him matchup against. I really enjoyed the NWO2000 stuff personally.
WCW just had a lot of big stars and no direction. Had they had any direction Bret could have been a much bigger deal in WCW. I think it was the Goldberg effect though. He was in the middle of his streak and you bring in one of the biggest names in wrestling and put him on your second tier title. Just didn't work.
