I watched the whole of Summerslam 1991 last night - Bret vs Perfect the obvious stand-out by some distance when it comes to wrestling, and probably the WWF match of the year (a feat they managed to repeat two years later and perhaps topped in quality), but the whole event was great in its entertainment value start to finish. MSG crowd pumped as always. The roster was never as stacked with star power as it was for this PPV (Flair not yet in vision but imminent as Heenan challenges Hogan backstage in the name of Flair). Shawn Michaels the only notable absentee due to injury I believe. Steamboat (utterly wasted by Vince by and large) still on the WWF books and Perfect with his final in-ring performance before the injury break (all the more impressive how he throws absolutely everything into the match given his back pain). Weirdly neither the Undertaker nor Jake were on the show, unless you count the wedding reception appearance afterwards.
I assume Piper was injured and so moved to commentary as a result(?). He's fun behind the mic, but he rather disrupts the natural comedy double act of Gorilla and Heenan.
Yeah, good stuff. Not sure if Piper was injured during, he did wrestle at House shows around this time, I think he was transitioning to the announce desk for TV purposes. He didn't have to wrestle as much, and he could spend more time with his family. Shame Taker and Jake didn't make the show, but I think they were setting them up for a big fall, Jake with Warrior and Taker with Sid & Hogan. Dont forget about Piper being involved in the steroid stuff of that year. Martel was as well which is why we didnt see em after the match with Warrior that Spring until he returned in early 92

From the History of the WWE website: WWF @ Springfield, MA – Civic Center – June 24, 1991 (1,800) The Undertaker defeated Roddy Piper via count-out at 5:10 after hitting the tombstone on the floor; after the bout, Piper was taken backstage on a stretcher.

WM 16: HHH vs Rock vs Show vs Foley. A complete dud for me. Rock tries his best with the shovel full of sh*te hes been given but its booking overload. Austin not being available yet scuppered the original plan-but man it was way better at Backlash with that crowd. Would have been wasted here. WM 17: Austin vs Rock. Absolutely brilliant match but obliterated by the ending for me. Completely out of touch with what the fans wanted. then they did it AGAIN in July. Good God. WM 18: HHH vs Jericho. A match that had tons of potential but Jericho looked like a complete jobber on the run in and nobody cared. It was nothing to do with Hogan vs Rock or its placement on the card. Fans weren't interested because it was such a heavily telgraphed outcome with a face HHH who had already cooled off HUGE due to the booking of the angle with Wifey. WM 19: Brock vs Angle. Great stuff and like WM14/HBK considering Angles condition? Its a minor miracle. I think they bettered this at SSlam 03 though. Enjoyed all of em...WM2000 is an underrated main event

WM29: Cena vs Rock. Not as good as the year before & again too long but it was entertaining enough. WM30: Bryan vs Orton vs Batista....incredible match & Jesus was the crowd eating that up. WM31: Rollins vs Lesnar vs Reigns. Entertaining stuff & Rollins cash in was well done I thought. Bangers!!

Savage vs I.R.S. - Raw 17/1/94
An enjoyable match until Crush got involved. Although, it was fun to see him shove Earl Hebner across the ring.

Outstanding. One of THE best booked MEs ever. Just brilliant.

Scott Steiner vs Ludvig Borga from Raw in Nov 93. Stiff as hell....
How impressive is Steiner flinging the frankly massive Borga around like he's made out of tissue.
Insanity.

I watched Saturday Night's Main Event from April 1988 today. It's one of my favourite SNME shows because it doesn't feature Hulk Hogan.

1996 Royal Rumble. Not the best, not the worst. I always consider 1993-1996 as the New Generation era, could also count early 1997. With that being said, the 1996 Royal Rumble match is the 2nd best Royal Rumble PPV of the New Generation Era. The 1994 RR is the best - IMO.

1996 Royal Rumble. Not the best, not the worst. I dislike this one tbh. One of the worst back then, but watching it nowadays is more fun lol. I loved HBK winning again.

Took a lil break but back at it with All American 5-2-93 episode. Bobby/Gene in Kentucky...Green screen Kentucky that is
Perfect/Doink in a KOTR qualifier is match of the episode. Loved the few matches these 2 had during this time
Luger/Backlund is the other qualifier. Bobby calling Backlund Opie will never get old
We also get another fun Steiners squash
Overall fun show with good build to KOTR
