i know....the most obvious board to post this on....but i really DO miss the old days so much!
i can still remember all my friends and i getting together for all the WM's....
Prime Time Wrestling on USA....
how special the first SummerSlam felt...
the excitement of WrestleMania VI....
thanking God when Undertaker beat Hogan for the belt....
the shock of Bret Hart's ascension to the title...
the beginnings of the Monday Night War...
the start of the nWo....
the Attitude Era...
the end of WCW....
what happened?! i should be excited about what's going on now,but i'm not! instead i long for those nights sitting at the bar and arguing with my friends why Sycho Sid was going ot beat Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 96...
anyone else feel this way?

I feel the same way. While there are some aspects of today's product that I like, It doesn't hold a candle to the stuff I grew up with. I remember getting excited for the PPV's and watching the March to Wrestlemania, The Summerslam Spectacular and The Survivor Series Showdown to get hyped for the shows. I was excited to go to the live events. During the Attitude Era, my friends and I would get tickets to all the events within a 2 hour radius. I remember in the Summer of 98 I did a WWF, WCW & ECW Show all in the span of 1 week. In the past year I've been to maybe 2 or 3 WWE shows. I even have tickets to Survivor Series and sadly have no excitement for the show. I wish Survivor Series would be Survivor Series again, there are so many PPV's and Regular matches all the time that Survivor Series matches would be a fresh change of pace. They turn every PPV into a gimmick PPV and the one PPV where the gimmick has been around for 25 years, they turn into just another singles and tag match show. (I know Rock is wrestling, but I was more excited when WWE.com said that he would be in a 5 on 5 Survivor match than him & Cena vs. Miz & Truth.)
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate today's wrestling, I'm just getting bored with it. But something has been missing since WCW closed down and they haven't been able to find it.

Me too how you used to be exited about every match on a ppv not just one or two. How you knew when the Survivor Series came it was either 5 on 5 or 4 on 4 every match. Watch a PPV and the next school day you and your buddies were reenacting the whole ppv during recess. I remember them well. Now I don't order any ppv,I barely watch anything new,Only new stuff I have is either best of dvd's or MITB 2011. Other then that I will sitck with my WrestleMania,Royal Rumble ,SummerSlam,Survivor Series box sets!!!

I miss everything about the old days. Today I find my self fast forwarding through 90% of Raw & Smackdown just because it's not interesting to me. The old stuff was so good and so much more fun to watch. Today I feel like everybody wrestles the same. Back in the late 90s there was so much talent and they were literally getting guys from all over the world who worked all different styles. Today everybody seems like a copy of a copy of a copy.
I miss the old days too! Most of the wrestling I watch anymore is the old stuff.

I really miss the old shows like Superstars of Wrestling, Prime Time, Wrestling Challenge etc. i loved the squash matches and how they would showcase talent.
with only four PPV (soon to be 5 in 1993) it made them seem all the more special and i used to be so excited for them for weeks.
Feuds used to last for a while and had a slow build up! - for the most part anyway.
and someone mentioned the death of WCW. another thing i miss is talent switching sides. even one person moving from WCW to the WWF would freshen the whole product up!
yeah, i miss the good old days too!

I miss the old days of feeling like you had to order every ppv or you were going to miss something. I find myself watching my old wrestling vhs tapes more and more.
Last week i watch Survivor series 1992 and i was hooked thru the entire show (eventhough i have seen it 5 times).
My favorite era of wrestling is 1988-1992.

You were younger...everything is rose colored glasses when you're younger...in 5 years people will be telling everyone how much they loved this year...it goes with the times...WWE started sucking hardcore after '02 but there's people who love 03-05 for no reason other then it was when they first started getting into it.

Im 31 and I started watching at WM5 time.I found the 97-02 to be more exciting than that. part of todays problem is the 13(or is it 14) PPVs a year.PPvs are no longer special.....

The last ppv i ordered was Summerslam 2008. The only reason i ordered it was because it was from my hometown of Indianapolis,Indiana.
I still remember the build up for Wrestlemania 14 and begging my parents for 2 weeks until they finally let me order it.

My favorite era has to be 1993-2001, Partly because
- The fueds were longer, (crush/savage, Taker/Gonzales, Owen/Bret,) to name a few. - I was hooked. - Titles meant more. - PPVs meant more - Comebacks/returns meant more, compared to wow the big show came back the other week, hardly noticed.
Doogle may be right in what he says though, maybe its because we started watching around this time that is our first memory and thats why we like it so much.

Oh, there's no question I still love and will always love the old-school days of wrestling. That's when it was fun being a fan. One of my earliest wrestling memories was watching "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff turn on Hulk Hogan...I was shocked. I couldn't believe it.
I looked forward to watching every episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. Man, they were awesome. Those old Main Event intros were friggin' awesome!!
I can't tell you guys how much I miss those days of wrestling. That's what I grew up on. And every Saturday I was friggin' glued to the television on CHCH Channel 11 for WWF Cavalcade:
I don't watch WWE anymore. I can't stand it. It's terrible. I switched to UFC/MMA and am SO glad I did. I can't stand WWE's product today. Old-school WWF wrestling is where it's at and anyone who says otherwise is full of sh*t.
