Hulk see if you have an extra to practice. Trust me it took me a couple trys using the other tutorials before I modified it to this tutorial. The benefits are it lets you swap body pieces but also do better paint jobs when you do customs.

This should be stickied. Thanks for the tutorial +1. I tried something similar to this and it works well. You just have to be really patient with it.

Thanks for the detailed tutorial and pics! This technique works out great and I was able to finish a custom that was set aside for months. I was afraid of ruining my figure, especially after I mangled my first Elite figure that I cracked. Like others said, the key with this technique is to go back, reboil the water, and dip your figure for a few minutes if you get stuck. The figure eventually becomes easier to take apart!

Yes make sure your water is hot Be patient, let the water get hot and spend the time to let it soak. In the end it will save you money and aggravation

With this method you still have the pegs intact So align the pegs andont fully tighten Get brush crazy glue and put a little along the sides that meet Never put the glue in the peg holes or on the pegs Do each piece in reverse order that you cracked it I use some spring clamps to put on each part so there will be a tight seal

Never tried it on a basic before just elite. I used Hells method of cutting through the pegs. I might try it now ;D

Glad u put this together so i dont have to, the one thing i would suggest is not to pry the trunks or lower abs apart with a screwdriver, i just cut the 4 pegs on the trunks, 2 on the sides, one under the ab peg and one between the legs, and cut the pegs on the abs.... i find it gaurantees you a perfect seam when putting it back together. Just reheat and cut, reheat and cut if you pry , you can bend the plastic and then make it harder to close the seam putting it back together, ive done this a few times when i started cracking elites, it really sucks if you bend the plastic Also The reason why you dont glue the pegs folks is because the glue will start to hold before you can close the seam on the torso, like mase said, just glue the edges of the upper torso. and before you glue it to put it back together, Do a Dry run, put the peices back together w.o any glue so you can see if theres any obstructions keeping the peices from seaming properly. if so then cut any bent or obstructive peices of plastic and when it fits the way you want it then proceed

good point. I forgot to mention that you should put the pieces back together without glue to make sure seams are flush.

No problem the Log. Now Hulk was going to try to use this method for the basic figures and I said I never did it but I attempted it today and it worked. It was actually easier.

I learned this while doing the last Hogan custom for H4L. Mase, you use the same techniques that I do. Glad to see that great minds think alike!
