Dude got arrested for pot when he was the champion. His mistake. Not WWE's. RVD being wasted is what keep him from being "the guy". It doesn't matter what your feelings are or how many of your friends do it or whether or not you do it... RVD got busted in Ohio for marijuana. In Ohio, marijuana is ILLEGAL. Period. End of story. Anytime your champion gets charged for something illegal...it's a big deal. Pot or not. As much as I like Rob Van Dam, I have to agree with most of this.

A great modern example would be Brian Kendrick awesome talent, but around the time of his singles push this guy was failing his drug tests almost everytime he took it. So why in the blue hell would Vince put more time into this guy if he was going to be a liability? We can't always blame the promoters, sometimes the athletes are at fault.

This would be true had RVD been the only one misued, but basically everybody on Raw from 2002-2003 was misused to feed HHH's ego. RVD was never given a true ME push when he was more over than 95% of the roster. Kane was given that whole Katie Vick storyline that ruined his backstory and made him a rapist. Booker T's acomplishment were all shot down by HHH and Flair. Chris Jericho was constantly stuck in the midcard as a heel because Hunter wouldn't let any heel get a shot above him on Raw. This was more of a promoter problem. IMO RVD didn't give a dam after he was sent to SD in 2004. His promos seemed to be lacking in enthusiasm and he was constantly being jobbed out to nobodies(multiple loses to Rene Dupree and Kenzo Suzuki). He may have always been a pothead, but had they used him properly when he was at his peak in popularity, I don't think he would have been as careless as he was in 2006.

I agree w/ the poster who said getting busted w/ pot shouldn't have been that big of a deal. Seriously, if people did some damn research, they'd realize that Alcohol is much more dangerous than weed is. If Alchhol is legal, then there is no reason why weed shouldn't be. . Set the whole legality issue of pot aside. When a guy becomes the company centerpiece, he has to walk a tight rope. Doing anything to cost the company money is a bad idea. At the very least, RVD should have been smart enough to put the weed away until his WWE run was over.
