Since I don't collect MOC, the carding is of little concern to me. That being said, I think it looks pretty cool, although the bubble on the inside seems to need some work. If I were to guess I would say that is "First time in the line" packaging but I guess we will see. My Dolph Zigglers arm is naked without Vickie so hopefully we see this soon.

Wow that looks absolutely horrible. It reminds me of some cheap bootleg packaging. I also still don't understand how Vickie is getting a figure before girls who actually wrestle on the roster.

Again, I get the passionate outcry from MOC collectors and all, but for us box openers, no one is a tad bit excited that Basics will come with tiny accessories like her necklace? I'm personally fine with a cheaper looking box if that means money can be put into enhancing the product with those nice touches. I mean, Long Island Iced Z is getting more TV time, perhaps a new scan with removable headband with come down the pike. But like I said, I open my figures and I'm exclusively Basic.

The superstar number has me thinking that perhaps they may do away with 'series' as we know it and just release basic figures running like flexforce and such. Would make sense when considering the superstar number bit. Good point. I could see Mattel using this as a way to re-release a figure in a later case. I think that's what Hasbro does with GI Joe, Star Wars and Marvel Universe.

Don't think so, if it was only diva's packaging then i have no idea why they would add "Superstar" on the top left.

I don't really like it. For the most part I'm a MOC collector, but maybe I'll start collecting Basics loose, because that packaging doesn't look that great.

I just realised Mattel reduced the size of the plastic bubble to cut costs!
Tsk tsk...
It's just like the Elite line. In the past, they had plastic on the sides and a plastic window at the back so u could see the detail on the back of the figure.
Now the plastic window is just limited to the front.

A not bad figure. Seems like the old Jakks' ones. Nice head scan.

Something tells me that by 2013 all figures will come in a plastic bag with a piece of cardboard on top to hang from pegs like this

If this is the basic packaging going foreward I don't like it. It looks cheap and the name going across the side looks tacky. The figure itself doesn't look too great either, particularly the hair/face. It is blasphemy that Vickie Guerrero has had two figures from two different companies and Gail Kim will never even have one. In the words of Punk, Gail Kim is a charisma vaccum. Not interesting enough to be worthy of a figure, tbh. Mattel said they won't make figs that won't sell - and a Gail Kim figure won't sell.

The hair looks weird on the figure, im all for a repackage design even though I love the current packaging, the new one looks more dynamic, kinda jumps out at you.
Face and body looks good on figure but the hair is nothing like the picture on card, looks like someone has done it on a PC with paint.

I'd rather they cut costs from the packaging than the figure. Wow that looks absolutely horrible. It reminds me of some cheap bootleg packaging. I also still don't understand how Vickie is getting a figure before girls who actually wrestle on the roster. Vickie has been the most prominent female in WWE for almost four years. The only diva that could even arguably be more deserving of a figure and hasn't yet got one is Layla, because Lay-Cool were such a huge part of Smackdown from 2009-2011. The Bellas still need figures too, but they're less important than Vickie, and they'd need to be a two-pack.

Mattel didn't change the packaging to cut costs. This was announced months ago - Toy giant Mattel Inc. on Friday announced that it is developing a "sustainable procurement policy" to avoid using packaging that contributes to deforestation. The statement came amid accusations from environmental advocacy group Greenpeace that the El Segundo-based company's toy packaging hurts the giant Indonesian rain forest. "Mattel has a long track record of playing responsibly across all areas of our business, which includes how we impact the world around us," Lisa Marie Bongiovanni, Mattel's vice president of corporate affairs, said in a statement Friday. "While we don't have all the answers yet, we are working to make continual improvements across our business, and that includes packaging."
