Here at ROP we love movies. Especially buddy movies. Especially especially Jay and Silent Bob. So in honor of our favourite stoner duo (Sorry Cheech and Cloudy) we have renamed our favourite yearly tournament. The rules however, remain the same. Sixteen of the world's (well, nearly) finest (not really) tag teams (ok, you got us there) will compete for one prize. The ROP Tag Team Championships...we'll see you in December!
REIGN OVER ME: THE KINGS OF WRESTLING (CHRIS HERO AND CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI)
The current ROP Tag Team Champions, the Kings of Wrestling were the blindingly obvious choice for this tournament. Will the Kings of Wrestling be able to dodge the champions jinx in the annual ROP tag tournament, or will they fall victim once again?
HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE: UP IN SMOKE (CHEECH AND CLOUDY)
Cloudy was invited to the tournament, and decided to bring his best bud (no pun intended) Cheech. Cheech will be making his ROP debut, and many eryes will be on them, as Cloudy has found great fortune this year in ROP, already having held the Cruiserweight Title...
FRIDAY: THE BLACKOUT (RUCKUS AND SABIAN)
Ruckus and Sabian were selected for the tournament by way of them being the current CZW Tag Team Champions. Ruckus has been in Ring of Poison previously, with the previous incarnation of the Blackout, teaming with Eddie Kingston and the Human Tornado. Sabian is another of the debuting contingent at this tournament. Will their luck in CZW carry over to ROP?
WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP: TEAM IWS (EL GENERICO AND KEVIN STEEN)
This team was scheduled to be El Generico and his former PWG tag team partner Human Tornado, but after Tornado was forced to pull out, there was only one man we could see to replace him. El Generico and Kevin Steen have been ripping it up across the country recently, engaging in a violent feud with the Briscoe Brothers in ROH, and recently winning the PWG tag team championships from current ROP Intercontinental Champion Roderick Strong and PAC. Will their luck continue in ROP?
DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE: ARROGANCE (CHRIS BOSH AND SCOTT LOST)
Originally scheduled to be in last year's tag title tournament, but pulled at the last minute, Arrogance will finally be making their ROP debuts this Christmas. Bosh and Lost have been two of the most requested wrestlers in ROP history, and their debuts will be two of the most anticipated ever! Will they be able to live up to the hype?
THE BLUES BROTHERS: THE SECOND CITY SAINTS (CM PUNK AND COLT CABANA)
Last year's semi-finalists, and general annoyance to the roster, CM Punk and Colt Cabana were obvious choices for the tournament. In fact, during the week, when they found out they were not first picked, we received a strongly worded letter from their attorney, Mr. P. Brooks. Will The Saints be able to replicate last year's success? Or will they do even better?
WHITE CHICKS: TEAM CHIKARA (MIKE QUACKENBUSH AND JIGSAW)
Jigsaw makes his second appearance in the ROP Tag Tournament here, this time with his trainer, the "Master of 1000 Holds" Mike Quackenbush. These two have teamed together, along with Shane Storm in ROP previously, and have been teaming irregularly in Ring of Honor. Will their union bring them success in ROP, or will their differences prevail?
DEEP THROAT: TEAM MASTURBATION (BEEF WELLINGTON AND EXCALIBUR)
Ok, so we cheated with the name. "Deep Throat" wasn't technically a buddy film...but Linda Lovelace seemed to be pretty friendly with everyone. Team Masturbation team for the first time in this tournament, but Excalibur was in last year's tournament, teaming with Super Dragon. Will these two be able to keep it in their pants, and go far in the tournament? Only time will tell...
BEN HUR: THE BRAINBUSTERS (ARN ANDERSON AND TULLY BLANCHARD)
A surprise addition to this year's tournament, these two are Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes' allies in their war against The Second City Saints. Will their paths cross in the tournament? Will the team with the oldest combined age in the tournament shock all the young lions?
BILL AND TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY: TEAM IWA-MS (CHUCK TAYLOR AND RICOCHET)
Another one of our return/debut tandems here in the tournament, Chuck Taylor and Ricochet aim to make their mark on ROP here. These two have been partners in the past, but have not been seeing eye to eye for a while. Will they be able to put their differences aside for the sake of the tournament?
DUMB AND DUMBER: INCOHERENCE (DELIRIOUS AND HALLOWICKED)
After their near miss first round loss against The Kings of Wrestling, Incoherence were guaranteed to be back in ROP. Delirious has been mysteriously absent from ROP this year, wrestling for ROG amongst others. Hallowicked, on the other hand, has had one of the best rookie years in recent memory here in ROP. Defeating Cloudy for the Cruiserweight Championship, he recently competed in the Eddie Guerrero Memorial Tournament, narrowly losing to Psicosis. Will his good luck continue?
BAD BOYS II: WORLD'S GREATEST TAG TEAM (CHARLIE HAAS AND SHELTON BENJAMIN)
Also competing in last year's tag team tournament, the World's Greatest Tag Team will be back for this year's. Charlie Haas, along with CM Punk won the first ever tag team tournament, so they are entering this as half-previous winners. Will the only team in the tournament from WWE be able to pull out a victory? Or will they ve sent back to Stamford, CT empty handed?
SUPERBAD: THE ORDER OF THE NEO-SOLAR TEMPLE (ULTRAMANTIS BLACK AND CROSSBONES)
The Angry Insect Evildoer and The Real Life Heavyweight Horror will make their way to ROP this Christmas. The CHIKARA regulars will be looking to make an impression in their debut here. Both are well versed in many different styles, and form a classic team with the UMB bringing the brains, and Mr X Bonez bringing the brawn. Unfortunately, Hydra is suspended due to infractions on the Wellness Policy. Damn them 'roids.
WEDDING CRASHERS: THE MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS (ALEX SHELLEY AND CHRIS SABIN
Shelley and Sabin were not originally scheduled for the tournament, but due to popular demand were invited. These two have been making waves in TNA recently and will look to bring similar success to ROP. Alex Shelley is no stranger to ROP fans, being a member of Generation Next, and more recently holding the Intercontinental Champion. Will fans give him a warmer welcome this time around?
SHANGHAI KNIGHTS: SUPER DRAGON AND DAVEY RICHARDS
Despite being a Kings of Wrestling member, when Super Dragon was invited to be a part of the Jay and Silent Bob Weekend, he knew of only one man that he could team with. That man was Davey Richards, his former PWG tag partner. The pair were throughly dominant throughout 2005 and 2006 in PWG, and hope to have similar success in ROP. Dragon is once again no stranger, having teamed with Excalibur in last year's tournament.
TWINS: THE BRISCOE BROTHERS (JAY BRISCOE & MARK BRISCOE)
One spot was left. And there was only one team that could fill it. Enter...The Briscoe Brothers. Independent wrestling's foremost tag team, the Briscoes will set foot in ROP for the first time this Christmas. Fans have been innudating ROP with requests for this tandem, and they are finally here. How will the fans receive them? How will they fare against 15 of the top teams in North America? All we know is...it's time for ROP to MAN UP!
