Bret Hart/WCW Question?

On an episode of Nitro in Toronto Bret Hart said he quits WCW.
Kevin Nash challenges Hart on the Tonight show. Bret agrees and they were scheduled for a match on the tonight show with Jay Leno.
Couple days later Owen dies and the obviously the match is scrapped.
My question is if the tragedy didn't occur does anyone know what was supposed to happen and what was going to be the storyline?
