Could somebody explain this whole Build a Figure to me please? I don't get it how it would work The Marvel Legends and DCUC lines would include pieces of a character that was usually 8' or taller in the comics. Each figure in a wave contained a piece of a particular character so that you would have to buy the entire wave to build a figure. I could see a Great Khali Build a Figure. But we've gotten 3 perfectly scaled Basic Khali's. I think refs and commentators are the best way to. It works for bigger guys in the DC Line(Darkseid, Bane, Apache Chief, etc.) so I think it could work for obscure characters in the WWE too, Cole, Chioda, Lawler, suited figures, maybe "COO HHH" somewhere down the line.

I usually associate BAF/CNC with bigger characters, but I guess smaller guys like referees or Divas could work if they want to cut down on plastic costs.

I don't like this. I don't like being forced to buy something I don't want just to complete something else.
If Mattel thinks enough people will buy things to complete the "Build-A-Figure", than clearly the character has enough of a demand that people would also buy it straight up.
I absolutely HATE stuff like this. I refuse to buy things I don't want in order to be scammed into having no other option to complete something. That's bullcrap. Just sell the damn figures. There's no need to turn this into some kind of game.

man i'm really excited about this if it means we'll can get figures of the obscure/less popular characters in wrestling
BAF legends would be amazing too, theres plenty of legendary jobbers and fondly-remembered-gimmicks who might not sell in a regular assorments but would work great as a BAF
and PJ i'm really jealous that you have that Bane! it's an amazing figure, wish I could afford to get it!

This does not interest me in the least bit. As far as I'm concerned, a BAF will just be a way for me to get money back on figures I purchase (selling parts or the complete thing)

I don't like this. I don't like being forced to buy something I don't want just to complete something else. If you're a completist, you're going to buy everything anyway, so what's the difference? If you're not a completist, why do you care about completing the something else?

If you're not a completist, why do you care about completing the something else? Because it sounds like it will be my only chance to get the character. I might want the CHARACTER but have no interests in buying the figures that it will cost me to complete the character.

There's no need to turn this into some kind of game. No, as Toy Guru said in the past they do it as a bonus to those that do buy all their figures. Nobody is forcing you to purchase all the figures to complete the BAF. Hell, with the exception of Bane & Kilowog I wasn't planning on building any of the BAF that have been in the DCUC line, but as it turned out I did want every figure that was offered in each wave to get them all. The only one I didn't want all the figures in was the Series 14 figures, but luckily I have a friend who has the 2 parts I need to finish the Ultra Humanite so that'll be finished without having to get the last 2 figures. And if there is a BAF you do want I'm sure you can get the parts you need through trades and ebay very easily. The only way it would suck for me is if they put a Legend in as the build a figure, because I don't buy complete sets of the Modern guys. There's only a handful of modern guys that I'll buy more than 1 version of. So most modern guys I'm not planning on getting updated versions of. So I'd have to actually go to ebay to track down the parts for a Legends. But if it's a ref, or someone like that I've no trouble passing on them. man i'm really excited about this if it means we'll can get figures of the obscure/less popular characters in wrestling BAF legends would be amazing too, theres plenty of legendary jobbers and fondly-remembered-gimmicks who might not sell in a regular assorments but would work great as a BAF and PJ i'm really jealous that you have that Bane! it's an amazing figure, wish I could afford to get it! Thanks Bane & Kilowog were the only two CnC figures that I planned on completing no matter what. Luckily all the other CnC figures came with figures I was planning on getting anyway.

I don't see this happening, it will be scrapped before it starts just like Toy Biz TNA figures. There will be someone to complain about including severed limbs of a figure based on areal person packaged with a full figure. Parents will complain if say John Cena or Rey Mysterio came with Michael Cole's head. It will be said they are promoting more violent acts by doing this. Based on how Mattel did it for DC Classics, the extra parts are usually at the bottom of the package, behind the paper description, and the package clearly states that there is a Collect and Connect part, so that the parents specifically wouldn't see the body part and think something is wrong.

i'm intrigued by this, I will wait till I see what exactly the BAFs will be before I judge this, I normally don't buy all of certain line but I guess if its someone I want or is important then I will have to

i really can't understand people who complain when a toy company makes a new character available in figure form, simply because of the cost or something like that. if something is available, then you have the choice to spend your money on it or not, surely that can only be a good thing.
i only complain when something i want is NOT available, or if it's not made to the technical standard i want (ie poor detail, bad headscan, etc). or if they're making too many repaints and not doing enough new characters because then they aren't catering to their whole market of buyers.
i've bought thousands of figures to "harvest" for one piece i want. whether it's a 2-pack where i only want one of the figures, or if i simply want a head for a fixup, or even that i just want a small accessory from the figure. for me it's all part of building a nice collection.
nobody is forcing me to buy these things or even collect at all. these aren't life essentials, they are a luxury, a hobby. it's my responsibility and choice what to spend my money on.
toy companies are aiming to make money, so they release products in the way they feel will sell best. these incentives to buy (such as BAF or exclusive items included) are SUPPOSED to encourage you to buy stuff you might pass on otherwise. it's called marketing! if something i want is too expensive then that's my problem. i don't blame the toy company.
the more different products a company can offer, the more customers they will reach, thats simple fact.

Gobbledy Gooker anyone? He would be the perfect candidate for a BAF. I'd buy the set to get a Gooker.

Did the TNA figures have a build-a-figure series? Tracy Brooks was supposed to be a BAF in the cancelled Toy Biz series that had Hernandez, Brother Ray and Kurt Angle

It should be a store and online thing. Like PJ, there were very few BAFs I wanted to complete that were in the DCUC line. I either traded or sold off what I didn't want. It is definitely an interesting premise for WWE figs and not all of the BAFs were larger than normal figs in both Marvel Legends and DCUC. Metamorpho was the standard size in DCUC. Ronan the Acuser, Ares God of War in MLs, they were pretty normal sized as well. Sometimes a BaF comes from them not being able to release that figure in the normal line and its chosen as the BAF. Check eBay, you see hundreds of sellers selling off either the pieces they didn't want but wanted the figs or the figs they didn't want but wanted the pieces.
