I think hasbromaniac would've reported it as it was a real one. Then again, Bret exists packaged...

it would be the first i have heard of it. by looking closely at the bottom half of first "h" in hogans autograph you might conclude that its been resealed. but maybe not, you definitely cant say with any degree of certainty that it has been resealed. i would also base my conclusion on where i found the pic, if it was an ebay auction where the seller is trying to sell it for a fortune claiming its the rarest figure ever, and the seller isnt extremely reputable, i'd be doubtfull. if you just stumbled across the pic randomly on some obscure site, i'd consider the possibility of it being authentic.

Well, it looks legit to me, but then again it very well could be a well done re-seal. It could also be a factory error where they put the wrong Hogan in the package instead of the correct one, so you never know.
For all we know, it could be a legit, one of a kind error.

Sure i saw this on ebay a while ago but just took a quick glance and passed it off as a re-seal. Did you see it on there? If so, how much did it go for?

and I would love to see a pic of this packaged mailaway Bret. Sadly the site wwfhasbromania.com doesn't exist anymore, it had a pic. Anyway, the post about hasbromaniac hasbro figures mentions it, saying the same fig was sold carded through KB-toys.

sealed in bag Mail Away Hulk Hogan. This figure is one of three exclusive mail away figures only available in the US (the other two being Bret Hart and Undertaker) and is the easiest to differentiate. First off these figures did not come on cards, and were instead offered in bags. Although this figure uses the same mould as a regular Hulk Hogan #3 figure it sports a different costume, namely red tights with Hulkamania in yellow print across them. Distinguishing features include a very detailed bandanna, and a paler skin dye. I would definitely rank the Mail aways as some of the rarest Hasbros. Mail Away Bret Hart There has been a lot of speculation about this figures, and here is why: The mail away Bret Hart is the second of the 3 mail aways. It is recognisable by the Purple hart on his torso. Now the confusing thing is that a few of the more common Carded Bret Hart #1's also came with Purple Harts. So how can you tell the difference? There are a couple more tell tell signs if you know what you are looking for. The Mail away Brett Hart, like the rest of the Mail aways were made with a paler skin dye than the rest. You place a Mail away fig next to an ordinary one you can see the difference. The second and more noticeable clue is that the Sunglasses on the Mail away figure were made with a much more dazzling shade of pink. If you can make out on the pic above, the pink of the goggles in comparison to the pick of his tights. All in all although this figures is among the rarest, I would say it is the least desirable of the MailAways. Mail away Undertaker. The rarest of all the mailaways the Undertaker is a standard #1 figure with the orange beard along with the coat from the standard #2 figure. As with all the mailaways the skin dye is much lighter. Best bought MIB. European Hogan Mailaway This European mailaway was issued as a collectors toy with special packs of Shreaded Wheat cereals. Not as widely known as the first three mailaways as these were never release to the US only UK & Europe. The production run was limited to 250 units thus in terms of numbers making them among the hardest to find of all mailaways. The second European mailaway was Macho Man #1.

I'd say it's re-sealed. It looks nice, though. I'd pay the going price for the loose mailaway, maybe a few dollars more for the effort. But, the way the card looks at the bottom of the bubble, I'd say someone either steamed it open, or used something like goo gone or lighter fluid to loosen the glue. Either method works and, with a little practice, it's hard to tell it was ever opened.

That is most likely a reseal. I have seen 2 other mailaway Hogan mOC over the years. Upon contacting both sellers, they admitted them to being custom jobs. I didn't really consider the Rude a variant but more of an error in coloring. As I wrote, out of the 6 carded Rudes I have, one is lighter but not really significant. Here's a comparison shot of the pinkish carded, pinkish loose and purple carded Rudes:

Definitely a re-seal. The mail-aways weren't even in production at the same time of Hogan #3. It's very easy to make a totally flawless "re-sealed" card. I wouldn't like to expose this information since a lot of scammers would abuse it.
