man the crowd was hot for him.I watched this live here in the wee hours and man I marked out like a mother er.I had no idea he was inbound.such a hot debut and one I love to watch pity he was hotshotted into a feud with HHH and a 20 minute match @rr03 that he had no chance in.never understood why Vince did that.....Steiners "drop foot" eliminated 70% of his moveset and he would have been better in a short violent/brawl match with the same ending HHH getting Dqed to save himself. I know Steiner was no great shakes but Paul did all to help him either.

He looked awesome when he debuted, thought he'd do wonders, then his dramatic fall to being on Heat... Ah well.

I was a HUGE Steiner mark when he came in, bought his first t-shirt and everything. Then he bombed, I was pretty embaressed to be a fan of his. I ended up trading away the shirt for some classic WCW stuff I recall.

yup he bombed badly but in fairness it wasnt his fault.he was placed in situations that he looked crap in.
a bit of cleverness on creatives part would have worked wonders here.but then again from 2002 onwards Steph was castrating creative and eliminating anyone except toadies like Gerwitz.

That was a great moment and the crowd was red hot I think he could've come out in a better spot though and interrupted someone a little higher up on the card. Also that tiny bicep creeps me out.

I remember being there and only being ten and never watching WCW I didn't really know exactly who we was besides some videos of his first WWF stint, but everyone else in the crowd was hot for him. Looking at it now it's simply awesome.

i'd have loved it if they had got him for the invasion angle.
have him destroy all the wwf midcard on his way to matches v the rock, austin, angle etc.
could have been awesome!

I marked out so hard when watching this PPV. And man, I can't tell you how dissapointed I was in the way they treated the Big Booty Daddy.

Steiner had a ton of momentum coming into the WWE and the pop he got during his debute proved this. His first month in the WWE, w/ the GMs trying to "sign him," was also great, but was misused big time after that.
Steiner is a heel. Thats it. His whole character is built as a heel and he has no face qualities what-so-ever. The WWE's first big mistake was turning him face and making him do 20-minute WWE scripted promos. He was famous in WCW for his unscripted heel promos, and while the WWE would have never let him do an unscripted promo, he still should have been allowed to have input in what his character said.
Then he was burried by Triple H. Hunter's ego was riding high, and since he had already burried almost everybody on Raw, Steiner was brought in to simply make Triple H look great and to burry WCW even more. The WWE also knew that Stiner had that foot problem and couldn't go long matches, yet they decided to book him in not one, but two 20-minute matches.
I hate how everybody seems to put all the blame on Steiner for his crappy matches w/ Hunter, and it takes two to tango, and Hunter was pretty slow in the ring as well and is just as much to blame IMO.

Wait, Steiner had a foot problem? Why didn't I hear about this and what exactly was wrong?

Wait, Steiner had a foot problem? Why didn't I hear about this and what exactly was wrong? Steiner had drop foot, which is basically a nerve problem where he lost feeling in his foot for moments , and sometimes even had paralysis in his foot where he couldn't move it at all for a few moments. This is why Steiner botched so many moves during his WWE run. The WWE knew he had the problem, but instead of waiting for him to get it fixed, they immediatly threw him into 20-minutes matches.

Was it true when he was asked to do a steorid test he said he would but only if HHH did too? Or is that myth?

That was such an awesome return. Why oh why did Stephanie and Hunter have to screw everything up?!?!?

Was it true when he was asked to do a steorid test he said he would but only if HHH did too? Or is that myth? Steiner has claimed this in a past interview, but HHH will never admit to this. But personally, I believe it. HHH was roiding big time back then, and every time time the WWE claims that they have put in a drug policy, evervybody seems to get smaller physically except for HHH(and now Cena in recent years).

I agree, HHH will never admit to it but he hasn't exactly hidden it well. He still looks huge to this day.

I believe it as well. Triple H was a rather different juice head if I must say so myself. I mean the guy was huge, but most guys on the juice want to be ripped as well (bodybuilders, other stars etc.). Hunter looked nothing less than a muscular fat boy. 1999-200ish 2002-2003

That second pic is after Hunter tore his groin in the summer of 2003, and as a result he lost alot of his definition and was a muscular fat boy from 2004-early 2007(looked like he was retaining alot of water-weight and not working out as much). Here is a pic from around the time he feuded w/ Steiner... Since his return from his quad injury in January 2002-SummerSlam 2003, Hunter was roiding and working out much more than he had in the past, and just looking at how much more buff he is here than he was in 2000-2001, I believe Steiner.
