ROP Online looks into the past of the man known as Dragon el Tire, teaming up with Ultimo Dragon this month at "Still Crazy...After All These Years" to take on Brian Kendrick and his mystery partner;
As we look towards “Still Crazy…After All These Years”, ROP’s resident lucha libre sensation Dragon el Tire will team up with his trainer and mentor, the legendary Ultimo Dragon to take on the deranged Brian Kendrick and a mystery partner. Kendrick claims he knows who is behind the mask of Dragon el Tire – as well as what is in Area 51, and where Elvis is currently living – but the question on the minds of most ROP fans is…who exactly is Dragon el Tire?
Ultimo Dragon’s Toryumon gym has been responsible for launching the careers of many superstars including CIMA, Dragon Kid and SUWA, along with Dragon el Tire. Trained in Naucalpan, Mexico alongside the names who would go onto make the Toryumon promotion – now known as Dragon Gate – famous, Dragon el Tire instead chose a different path. He chose to remain in Mexico, where he wrestled for over a decade, starting at the smallest of promotions and working his way up to matches in the fabled Arena Mexico, the “cathedral of lucha libre”.
Dragon el Tire’s break came in late 2010 when Ultimo Dragon referred him to ROP management as a man who deserved an opportunity on a larger scale. ROP handed Dragon el Tire the opportunity, and he has impressed ever since, with victories over Jonathan Gresham and the All Night Express when teaming with his trainer. Now Dragon el Tire faces the most testing match of his career as he again teams up with Ultimo Dragon to take on Brian Kendrick and his mystery partner.
It remains to be seen what “dirt” Brian Kendrick claims to have on Dragon el Tire – there are no existing records of these two ever competing against each other, or training together. What does Brian Kendrick know about the masked marvel that nobody else does? Hopefully – and it’s a big hope, what with the unpredictable nature of Kendrick – all will be revealed soon, only on Ring of Poison Independent Wrestling.
