This truly was Summer of Punk 2. Everything about it. Even running out the back door. Now.... lets not have him show up, or have him show up via satellite . I just hope to God they let him stay at hoe. Summerslam is interesting, that for sure. Do they get Punk to come back and drop it? Del Rio/Cena for a new belt, get Punk back at Mania and unify it? The possibilities....

after watching this ppv from start to finish, i'm convinced, Punk lit a fire under the WWE's ass because that show was about more then Punk.. and yet it was it's own saga. That kinda ppv is what fans wanna pay money for. that was a homerun with the bases loaded.

I didn't get to order the PPV, could someone recap what happened with Punk/Cena and afterwards?I'm trying to piece it together with the forum, but I can't get it all When Punk came out for his entrance, he stood at one side of the ring, and Colt Cabana and Ace Steel were in the front row, but they didn't acknowledge who they were. The match was awesome. Pretty much, it was really back and forth. Depending on the time of the match, it looked like Punk was about to win, or that Cena was about to win. Cena had Punk in the STF three times. On the 2nd time, he countered it into the Anaconda Vice. Cena also countered an GTS into the STF the 1st time. Cena gave Punk either 2 or 3 AA's and he kicked out of all of them. I don't think Cena ever kicked out of the GTS. I think the only one Punk hit was it. Near the end, Mr. McMahon and John Laurenitaus came out. When Cena had the STF for the 3rd time, McMahon yelled "ring the bell", which no one saw, so Laurenitaus ran to tell the timekeeper, Cena let go of Punk, got out of the ring, punched Laurenitaus and then went closer to McMahon, who was in the middle of the ramp and said "not this way." When Cena went back in, Punk hit the GTS and it was over. There was celebration, and lots of it, but Punk stayed in the ring, intertwined with McMahon stunned. No over the top McMahon, but stunned silence McMahon. Afterward, McMahon went to the announce table and called out Del Rio to cash in. Del Rio came out, ran in the ring, was about to cash in, then gets kicked in the head by Punk. Punk leaves the ring and leaves through the crowd. And the commentators made sure to mention the bell didn't ring, so Del Rio didn't actually cash in. I wish I could've seen this! I'm all pumped up just from reading this!

I hope Cena legit punched Johnny Ace in the face. That would be so deserving.

When do we find out how many people bought the ppv? WEEKS! But in like one week, watch stupid-ass Dave Meltzer put out his own number.

I love the lack of updates to WWE.com. It's like they're legit panicking.
Didn't Punk say he was going to get rid of the ugly belt?

I think this may be the best PPV I have ever seen live. Literally, EVERYTHING was perfect.
- Bryan wins: I say to myself 'amazing, you know what? they could drop the ball with the rest of the show and I'll still be content'. finally (arguably) the best pure wrestler in the industry right now gets what he deserves. - Del Rio wins: perfect. needed some steam after RR. Kinda expected, but this was the best outcome. 2/2. - CHRISTIAN WINS?!? Totally unexpected. and no post match cash in? perhaps there is a god after all. and he must have great taste in professional wrestling booking! either way, you could end the PPV here and I'd say PPVOTY. like I am blown away. - PUNK FACES CENA IN A 45 MINUTE MATCH, WINS AND KEEPS THE WWE TITLE!?!? you've gotta be kidding me. Un-be-lieveable.
I said it when Del Rio won RR, I said it when Rock returned, and I said it when Christian won the WHC. but none of those times did I mean it as much as now. That is why I'm a wrestling fan. The suspense of seeing Cena secure his second FU, Punk hitting a crisp GTS, Vince coming out, Punk winning the title with the potential to lose it ANY second!? unmatched with any other form of entertainment.
Hats off to you WWE.

When do we find out how many people bought the ppv? Month or two for official totals, I think. But they could have initial estimates as early as tomorrow probably.

Tonight was a slap in the face, a defiant wake up call to anyone who was perfectly content with the way this company had been running up until now.
My god that was unbelievable. For the first time in years, an angle PAID off. And boy, did it pay big.
I'm so damn excited I can hardly sit here and type this, but I'm going to attempt to work my way through the show.
An absolutely stellar Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Going into tonight, I was looking forward so much more to Raw's, but Smackdown pulled out all the stops tonight. Excellent spots, some interesting scenarios presented, and a COMPLETELY unexpected result. I never, in a MILLION years saw Daniel Bryan walking out with the Money in the Bank briefcase tonight, and I loved it. I was one of the few in the camp of thinking Barrett simply didn't deserve it at this time. My pick would have been Sheamus or Cody Rhodes, but good god Bryan came out of left field. Great match, great way to kick things off.
Throwaway divas match that was harmless, clocking in at just over four minutes. No harm, no foul.
I enjoyed Henry/Show for what it was. Granted, it wasn't a great match but I love what is being done with Henry and this just served the purpose of establishing his dominance. He needed the clean win over Show.
Raw Money in the Bank match was slightly disappointed, and rather short quite frankly (clocking it at 15 minutes and change as opposed to Smackdown's 25). I didn't feel like everyone really got a chance to establish themselves. Just seemed to be over before it really got started. Still, some decent spots and a relatively predictable ending. Couldn't believe Del Rio took of Rey's mask, though.
Fun match between Christian and Orton. A shorter bout than I expected, but great while it lasted. Certainly better than last month. Interesting finish, and I loved the fact that Christian walked out with the belt, even if it went down the way it did. Crazy that they're going to actually let these guys have four matches on Pay-Per-View. Both have done a hell of a job with this program, they deserve it.
Then there's the big one. Where do I even begin? From the moment Punk's music hit I knew we were in for something special. I can't recall a time that a match felt that big. Not Wrestlemania, not in years.
But could it deliver?
I will say this, before anything else. John Cena proved the world wrong tonight. For every person that has chanted "you can't wrestle", for every individual around here who has slammed him time after time after time, Cena went out tonight and had the absolute best match of his career. I'll argue until I'm blue in the face that this was better than any match he had with Michaels, Triple H, anyone. As much as Punk had on the line tonight, Cena was just as integral, and he played his part to a T.
I can't say enough about this match, about this angle, about the WWE for allowing those two guys to go out there and for THIRTY THREE minutes, give one of the greatest back and forth roller coaster matches that company has seen in years. Absolutely brilliant. Anyone looking to earn a match of the year title after tonight has got a mountain to climb.
There's nothing I can say to put into my words my elation with the result. It was picture perfect. WWE knew what they had on their hands and for once, they capitalized on it.
I spent $50 on this show, and WWE earned every last penny. I don't think I've ever been able to say that and wholeheartedly mean it.
