Hey guys.
I was watching the Flair/Guerrero US title match from WCW Hog Wild in 1996 earlier. Good match too.
Anyway I was wondering, other than for the bikers, what was the thinking behind this event? Who originally thought it was a good idea?
I believe it was a free event... Not sure if I'm remembering correctly, obviously it was on PPV so they still made a fair bit.

such an awesome event idea and atmosphere. WWE should give their current PPVs more personality/gimmicks.

yeah Road Wild was a free even which was always held in Sturgis,North Dakota during the Sturgis motorcycle rally.
it was Bischoffs brainchild which Turner execs absolutely ADORED supposedly.
the name was changed from Hog Wild because of some trademark infringement or another.

One of the first events I ever watched was the Hog Wild where Hogan and Nash were in the main event. The year escapes me.

Its Sturgis, South Dakota.   I loved this event. I believe that the entire atmosphere of this show was great. Only problem was drunk wrestlers (Kevin Nash) at the show in the main event. The show definitely makes one of the best wrestling event ideas on my list. |

I enjoyed the concept. The set was usually horrendous, but I liked the look of it, as it was different from any other Wrestling show setting and for WCW, it was a look that really stood out from the rest of their events.

Haha I remember him making a comment in the Guerrero/Flair match and Schiavone saying "stop it"... I can't remember the comment but it stuck in my mind as "that didn't sound right". |

They definitely had a different feel to them. This idea wouldn't work today though.  Wrestling doesn't have adult fans like it used too. |

Two of my favorite matches came from the very first WCW Hog Wild 96', The Outsiders Vs. Lex Luger & Sting and The Main event Hollywood Hulk Hogan Vs. The Giant for the WCW Championship!
