A crazy Native American? I was a fan. He was such a colorful character and the talent today does not compare to 20 years ago.

so true.
WWEs cookie cutter sytem is producing a roster full of clones.its a breath of fresh air to see someone like Sheamus or Sin Cara making it through though

Thats all you ever hear in shoots from guys of the golden era, is you had to make yourself stand out to get over. So many guys from 1987 -92 did this, thats why they're so memorable.

Vince needs to remember some of his BIGGEST success came when letting guys do their own thing.

Vince needs to remember some of his BIGGEST success came when letting guys do their own thing. this is,to me,THE biggest issue with WWE right now... in the fall of 1997,Vince was a bit defeated and deflated...several wrestlers have mentioned the infamous "backstage meeting" on the Raw the night after Brian Pillman died, where Vince admitted maybe he was too old,too behind the times, and not "hip" with what's current and what people want to see... at this point,a lot of the writing and characterizations fell onto the actual wrestlers themselves...and we were blessed with the Attitude Era....wrestlers immediatelt stopped being plumbers and bluebloods, and became rattlesnakes and degenerates...they became less characters and more PEOPLE....and the wrestlers themselves had a vested interest in doing their best in promo's and in matches, because the heat was on THEM...THEY made THEMSELVES sink or swim, and had the opportunity to get themselves over... after WCW died, this art was lost, and the whole product suffered for it,as wrestlers are no longer encouraged to find their characters and get themselves over, but must follow scripts nad characterizations written for them....even their promo's...

thats whay a healthy and profitable TNA would be great for business-it would force the Macs out of their comfort zone. never gonna happen though.even though TNA is in business longer than ECW was

Characters or gimmicks are a big lack in the wrestling industry today

Pretty much if the belt didnt go around your waist, you werent going to get pushed in my fed growing up ^ That line made me LOL! That is good! Joker nailed it perfeftly - Warrior was supposed to be a superhero-type gimmick and it worked: The attire, the colors, the body, the entrance, everything fit Warrior. Warrior seemed to mesh well with some in-ring wise (Savage, Rude, Hogan). Others not so much. But I wish the original 1993 Royal Rumble Main Event of Bret Hart vs. Ultimate Warrior would have followed through. Thats all you ever hear in shoots from guys of the golden era, is you had to make yourself stand out to get over. You both just beautifully summarized why I have next to zero interest in WWE's product right now or even for the last 3-4 years.

Slaughter was just a horrible choice for champion.

He was just a savage, I think.
I liked him until he got in the ring.

A Warrior that was Ultimate?
I mean, literally thats what he was. I was a fan for sure, I mean I was only 3 to 5, but Warrior was so crazy no little kid could dislike him. Looking back on his promos, yeah they make no sense but they were so GOOD.
