Decent enough start to Heat with Oddities vs. Kurrgan and The Headbangers. Makes sense that the Oddities go over seeing as they were the experienced and more cohesive unit. HBK now the heel in the feud right? I like that. Should be a good matchup. I like that you are pushing the loner thing with Edge, its good, and I liked the promo because it explained his actions on RAW well. Don't know whether he'll going over tonight, it'll be fun finding out. Don't care much for the MMA fight, it'd be a draw in today's wrestling world, but not back here I don't think. Major upset for X-Pac against Henry, but that used to be his career, haha. I do like the small brawl that broke out afterwards, and how you keep reminding us of the matches people are in later in the night. Excellent HHH interview, he's seeming like a big time player this year and if he goes over tonight he could well be by this time next year. Don't think this corporation is up to much, but if Taker does turn tonight, it'll have that big talent it needs. Regal vs Vader could be good, great way to get both guys on the card. Abismo Negro getting the Light Heavyweight title was inevitable to me, good to do it now rather than later. Closing the show with a promo for the main event and a final bit of build for Jarrett / Owen was good stuff, and I'm really looking forward to Summerslam now!

I don’t know why Heyman would be mad at McMahon for signing his guys. I’d imagine he would be more upset that RVD and Sabu aren’t loyal to him and all that. I decent opening segment, but I just want to see the ladder match end this feud that shouldn’t have been brought back in my opinion. Fine opening contest, nothing wrong with how that played out. I’m not all that interested in Edge/Brown feud. I’m sure it would be a fun match, but from an angle issue I don’t have much interest in it. The Bossman/Austin segment reminds me of the Bossman/Hogan feud from 89, which is random I know. I hate that Runnels went over Brown here. I don’t like the champion being treated so weakly even if he is going to lose the title at the PPV, which I can only assume to be the case. Fine segment between HBK/HHH. I hope HHH wins and takes HBK off television. Negro was the worst of the three to win the number one contenders match, I never liked him and thought he was really mediocre in the ring from what I saw. Alright main event, I hope Jarrett gets some kind of push after getting the pin despite Taker making that happen. Only six matches, but a few angle advancements for the go home show for SummerSlam, not bad.
Not going to comment on HEAT other than I hate Negro winning the Lightweight Championship.

| WWF SummerSlam - Sunday 30th August 1998 |

New York City, New York - Madison Square Garden

A video package set to AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" kicks off the pay-per-view, focusing on how big tonight is for four men, all of which poised by the same destiny, to have the WWF Championship. Stone Cold Steve Austin, a fighting champion fighting off the odds of a corporate mastermind by the name of Vince McMahon and his empire. But also with the deranged Mankind, a former corporate member of McMahon gone insane. Kane, also formerly allied with McMahon now in the midst of speculation to be allied with the Undertaker. And the Undertaker, a veteran that wants the WWF Championship more than anything, and he has been the centre of attention for being the next man to join the Corporation. Tonight, many revelations will be revealed!
The opening graphic for SummerSlam aired, and we cut to the steaming Madison Square Garden where pyrotechnics went off in the ring, the entrance annotating to being the gates to Hell. And tonight, we are on the Highway to Hell! Jim Ross and Jerry "the King" Lawler introduce us to the show, and what an amazing three hours in store!
1) WWF Intercontinental Championship D-Lo Brown (w/The Godfather) (c) vs Edge |

A smoking match to kick off the show, as Edge has been on the uprising since his debut only two months ago, the mysterious Edge, entering through the crowd of the Garden had a lot of momentum and potential as this rookie from the rough streets of Toronto, Canada was here to do battle with the member of the Nation. D-Lo Brown however, also an uprising star. Bred under the wing of The Rock, the Nation brought Brown up to be the opportunity-seeking Intercontinental Champion. Brown used his chest protector as a weapon, and the Godfather at ringside as Edge fired lefts and rights at Brown, seemingly targeting the head of Brown. Edge downed Brown and had him scrambling for ringside, and just at that moment he came flying through the ropes, suicide dive spearing Godfather down! Edge remained all over Brown until Godfather had the challenger distracted, D-Lo with a low blow and he started working over the shoulder of the Godfather. Brown attempted to go for the Sky High early, almost splashing Edge repeatedly using the chest shield as a weapon logically. Brown soon had Edge in the abdominal stretch, the fans cheering Edge on until he finally got the hang of it, Edge hiptossing Brown and nailing him with the spinning heel kick! Edge set up in the corner for a Spear, but Godfather tripped him from ringside! The official had Godfather ejected as the fans applauded, D-Lo irate! Brown went back after Edge, Edge suddenly connecting with the Downward Spiral just for Brown to get his foot on the ropes! Brown slowly got up and fired more blows on the challenger, both young men lighting up the MSG in only the first of eight action packed matches tonight. Brown had Edge down with an inverted atomic drop, then going for the Frog Splash, but Edge moved! The challenger took the chest protector off and kicked D-Lo in the gut, going for the spear but Brown launched his protector in the face of Edge! D-Lo followed with the Sky High for the unprecedented three!

Winner and STILL WWF Intercontinental Champion: D-Lo Brown @ 11:36 [***]

D-Lo Brown celebrated his win to loud boos, Brown soaking up the atmosphere in the Garden, the Godfather celebrating with Brown and handing him his WWF Intercontinental Championship. The two Nation members started to leave, but still expecting more as The Rock still yet to face Dustin Runnels later tonight. We cut to the backstage area as Michael Hayes was standing by with Mankind as the deranged one was shown pulling at his hair, Hayes asking about how he thinks tonight will go down for him. Mankind tells Hayes that he's put on his best duds, a full suit and tonight when he's leaving, whether it's his suit in shreds, his mask ripped and his face covered in blood, he will have the WWF Championship still in his hands. He doesn't care for these conspiracies, the insanity drives him on! He was born in the Foley family and taught not to care. He wants to put Kane and the Undertaker through hell for all of their atrocities in the past, and he wants to make Stone Cold Steve Austin see that he is the better, more devilish son of a bitch! He tells Hayes to have a nice day before wandering off. In the backstage area, Bill Alfonso is with Rob Van Dam and Sabu, and Alfonso is talking the two challengers through how tonight is about how they are now WWF superstars and they need to prove to these fans and New Age Outlaws how truly extreme they are! The "Whole F'N Show" tells Alfonso not to worry, because tonight they will see, all twenty thousand fans out there in the world's most famous arena that they are extreme, and Billy Gunn and Road Dogg will wind up with their asses in the hospital, courtesy of Van Dam and Sabu! A vignette of previous occurrences between Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock air, showcasing what these two men have put each other through, dating back to the days of their UFC run, dragged over to the World Wrestling Federation where these two have fought all over the arenas across the United States, but tonight the two compete in a Shoot fight, as officiated by the "Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman, who is bound to take no crap from either competitors. 2) Shoot Fight Match Ken Shamrock vs Dan Severn Steve Blackman is the Special Referee |

The rules to this one was that this one could only take place in the ring, and if either mixed martial-artist fell out of the ring, they'd be given five seconds to get back in. If actually thrown out of the ring purposely, it would give the victim the disqualification victory. The only way this could end was by submission, and these two definitely wouldn't hold back. The "World's Most Dangerous Man" took on the "Beast" in a grapplefest, neither men wanting to leave their feet, and both of these were fighting strictly for the title of the better man to finish off this grudge. Dan Severn had the power advantage, tossing Shamrock down with the front-facelock and keeping him applied, dropping some knees on the head of Shamrock. Shamrock slid out, using some agility and managing to apply an armbar on Severn just for Dan to reach the ropes. Shamrock broke it and dropped Severn with the belly-to-back suplex, Shamrock with another armbar, refusing to let go and Severn rolled out of it, driving Shamrock to the floor with another front facelock, almost like a DDT. Severn applied the guillotine, almost a modified version of the Beast Choker. Severn applied the Dragon Sleeper and Shamrock struggled, refusing to let Severn lock his legs around the waist, and Shamrock tangled his feet on the bottom rope. Shamrock got up slowly as Severn got in the official, Blackman's face and Shamrock ran and tackled Severn down! He applied an STF on Severn but Severn rolled through and locked in the triangle choke, Shamrock rolling through again and the Ankle Lock was applied! He locked the legs around the leg of Severn and Dan struggled, the "Beast" seemingly tamed, and Blackman rang the bell!

Winner: Ken Shamrock @ 4:48 [N/A]

Ken Shamrock's music sounded as Dan Severn backed up into a corner clutching his ankle. Steve Blackman attempted to raise the hand of the "World's Most Dangerous Man" as victor but Shamrock threw it down, getting in his face and claiming to the "Lethal Weapon" that Severn did not tap to the Ankle Lock! Shamrock looked annoyed as he left, Dan Severn rolling out of the ring in annoyance, mouthing that this wasn't over. Blackman shrugged and remained in the ring. We cut to the backstage corridor where Vince McMahon was shown with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco, the Chairman discussing about how they were meant to be meeting Jim Cornette over a half hour ago, and they don't understand where he is. Suddenly a stage hand appeared to them, telling Vince that he saw Cornette in the parking lot waiting for somebody to arrive. 3) WWF European Championship Owen Hart (c) vs Jeff Jarrett |

This one has been brewing since June, as the "Black Hart" was once a target of the South, Jim Cornette and Jeff Jarrett being in the faction with Dan Severn and the Mid-South Connection, but after last month at Fully Loaded: In Your House, Jarrett's NWA North American Heavyweight Championship was merged with the European Championship and Owen came out victorious, killing the NWA title's existence in the World Wrestling Federation. "Double J" having been a member of the Corporation ever since, Jarrett got in plenty of shots as the match began, not giving the champion a chance to get his energy up, keeping Owen grounded. "Double J" worked over the leg, Jarrett attempting to make it the first win for the Corporation tonight, a big night for McMahon's faction as Stone Cold Steve Austin may lose the WWF Championship tonight, and the Undertaker is expected to join them. Jarrett using the ring post, locking Owen's knee around the ring post and going right to work, the figure-four leglock applied on Owen through the ring post, in the shadows of Owen's older brother Bret! Jarrett soon tried to go for it inside of the ring, Owen managing to reverse it and he gave Jarrett a massive enziguri! Hart got in several half-crescent kicks and clotheslines, Owen preparing for the finish, the tombstone piledriver positioned just for Jarrett to rake the eyes of Owen! Jarrett gave Owen a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and went back for the figure-four leglock just for Owen to flip him around! Owen applied the Sharpshooter as Jarrett was in pain, Jarrett managing to make the ropes! Owen went for the tombstone again, Jarrett landing on his feet and kneeing Hart in the head! "Double J" tried the DDT just for Owen to shove Jarrett down, going up and giving Jarrett a crossbody for a near fall! Owen slowly got back up and tried the enziguri, but Jarrett turned it into a leglock! "Double J" refused to let go before Owen once again turned it over, applying the Sharpshooter again! Jarrett scrambled but finally, Jarrett tapped!

Winner and STILL WWF European Champion: Owen Hart @ 13:14 [***1/4]

Owen Hart celebrated his win as the crowd cheered, the "Black Hart" standing tall. He was handed the WWF European Championship by the referee and Owen had done it, defeating Jarrett once again. Jeff Jarrett slowly got back up, "Double J" tempted to attack Owen from behind, instead rolling out of the ring and going to ringside to leave. But as Owen went to leave up the aisleway, Jarrett slammed the guitar over Owen's head! Jarrett shrugged Owen off, citing the end of his want for the WWF European Championship, but we all knew that this one wasn't over! In the parking lot we see Vince McMahon and the Stooges, as McMahon, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco called out for Jim Cornette, not managing to understand where Jim Cornette was. He told Patterson that it was important they see him because he has the plan for tonight! We then saw McMahon look left, as the pickup truck of Stone Cold Steve Austin was there, and McMahon told his Stooges that he knew exactly where to look for Cornette next! A clip from earlier tonight on HeAT was shown, reviewing the interview with Al Snow and how he wanted retribution on Val Venis for everything Venis put Head through. Michael Cole was shown standing by with The Rock as he asked about the Nation's business with D-Generation X, Rock telling Cole to shut up or he'd knock the yellow off of the teeth on Cole. Rock mentioned that it's none of his damn business why the Nation wanted to beat up on DX, if they wanted to beat up on Kai En Tai, the Nation damn well would! It's what makes things entertaining, and he can't think of another thing more entertaining that kicking Dustin Runnels' candy ass around Madison Square Garden tonight! 4) Grudge Match Al Snow vs Val Venis |

This one was bound to be interesting, Al Snow still getting cheered because of his insanity being highly hilarious to some. Snow got in several lefts and rights, Al positioning Head at ringside and just interrupting Val Venis whenever he tried to taunt, in fact he interrupted the "Big Valbowski" before he had the chance to cut an in-ring promo. And somewhat, this was a big deal to Al Snow that he avenged Head's 'humiliation'. Snow used some dirty tactics, low blowing Venis whenever he saw fit, Snow then going to work on the arm of Venis, keeping Venis at his will with the wristlocks and hammerlocks, Snow then surprising many with a hurricanrana to the outside. Venis managed to fight back, being slightly larger than Snow and more well built, the "Big Valbowski" managing to give Snow a clothesline as he tried to come off of the top rope. Venis taunted the fans and pointed to Head just to irritate Snow, and Snow ran at Venis for Venis to powerslam him! Venis went to the top for the Money Shot but Snow shoved the official into the ropes, going up and giving Venis the top rope hurricanrana! Snow then grabbed Head and slammed Venis in the skull causing the random disqualification!

Winner: Val Venis @ 7:11 by disqualification [**1/4]

Val Venis was unconscious as Al Snow cuddled with Head, Snow raising Head high above his head and headbanging. Snow started to leave when suddenly Vader's theme hit, and the pyrotechnic blast caused Snow and Head to dive into the front row! Snow and Head scurried away through the crowd. An advertisement aired, promoting WWF Breakdown: In Your House, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, September 27th 1998 from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. 5) Grudge Match Vader vs Steven Regal |

This match was only signed for earlier tonight, but these two men have been in a series of matches involving the other man in the past month. The "Lord of Lords" debuted on July 27th defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin, instantly joining Mr McMahon's evil Corporation and has proved to be a big threat to any opponent regardless of size. And this proved tonight as the mastodon, Vader tried to pound away at Regal, but Regal combined his agility with roughneck style, some hard knees bouncing off of the cranium of Vader, Regal managing to take Vader down and from there keeping him there, several lefts and rights stunning Vader. Regal attempted his Regal Stretch but Vader shoved him off, the mastodon one of the men on the frontline against the Corporation in the past several weeks. Vader overpowered Regal as he came off the top, big spinebuster connecting. Vader roared as the fans were loving it, the mastodon preparing for a splash in the corner just for Regal to dodge at the last second. Regal chop blocked Vader's leg and went after it, leglock applied just for Vader to get to the ropes. Vader soon got back up, managing to give Regal a massive scoop slam, splashing the "Lord of Lords"! Vader soon attempted the powerbomb on Regal but Regal managed to slip out, the Regal Cutter prepared, but Vader's strength lifted Regal by the arm over the shoulder, and set him up for the massive powerbomb! Vader went up and nailed the Vader Bomb for the three!

Winner: Vader @ 7:40 [**1/4]

Vader celebrated his win as the crowd cheered, the mastodon victorious once again tonight in this outing. Steven Regal remained down, the "Lord of Lords" coughing up blood. Regal stumbled up the aisleway as Vader stood in the centre of the ring, his hands raised. Suddenly, a man with long black hair appeared wearing trunks, amazing physique, and he clotheslined Vader right off his feet! He then picked Vader up and gave him a massive powerbomb, the ring shaking! The crowd chanted ' awesome' as this stranger stood dominantly in the middle of the ring. We return to the backstage area as Vince McMahon and his Stooges knocked on the door of the "Texas Rattlesnake", Stone Cold Steve Austin opening the door and giving Vince the finger! McMahon told Austin that this was serious! Austin tells Vince not to distract him, because tonight he was gonna go out there and kick three of his corporate stooges asses, he doesn't wanna make that six right here and now! McMahon asks Austin if Jim Cornette was around, and Austin tells him he hasn't seen him, but he might wanna go bother Kane, in fact he should, because otherwise he'd get the steel chair and start beating the crap out of the boss right here and now! McMahon sarcastically wished Austin luck, telling him to watch his back before continuing to walk up the corridor, trying to forget the disrespect just received. In the room of the Corporation we see John Tenta and Big Bossman watching SummerSlam on a monitor, Bossman mentioning how tonight's not going the boss's way. Maybe they should take matters into their own hands! Tenta agreed, because the last thing anybody wanted was for Stone Cold to leave still the WWF Champion! Bossman stated how they were the corporate guards of McMahon's safety, Bossman told Tenta that he would keep care of McMahon, and Tenta can go and cost Austin the WWF title! 6) Grudge Match The Rock vs Dustin Runnels |

Dustin Runnels has wanted to lay his hands on the Rock for several weeks now, as the "Brahma Bull" has been riding a massive ego for several months, perhaps pulling off a short straw this time around as Runnels brought his patented crowbar to ringside with him, Runnels firing right at Rock in the ring, Rikishi Phatu darted for ringside to confiscate the crowbar from Runnels and keep on eye on his Nation leader, Rock. Rock was dominated by Runnels as Rock was nailed with several clotheslines and bulldogs, the King of the Ring 1998 winner set up for the Curtain Call extremely early on just for Rikishi to distract Runnels! Runnels targeted Rikishi and shoved him off the apron, Rock striking Runnels with a cheap low blow from behind, Rock with a spinebuster and the "Brahma Bull" prepared the People's Elbow. He bounced off the ropes and prepared the elbow just for Runnels to move out of the way. Runnels gave Rock a big DDT, Runnels motioning for the Curtain Call again. Phatu got into the ring and Runnels dropkicked him away, Runnels turning around to get the Rock Bottom! Rock covered for the three.

Winner: The Rock @ 7:11 [**1/4]

The Rock celebrated his win to boos, Rikishi Phatu joining Rock in the ring as the King of the Ring winner had taken out the sidekick of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rock definitely still targeting fame in the main event. Suddenly, the theme of D-Generation X hit, and the New Age Outlaws and X-Pac darted out to the ring, the trio of DX clearing house of Rock and Phatu, and up next it was time for the first ever tag team ladder match! A video package aired, recapping the history of the New Age Outlaws and their dominant two title reigns as WWF Tag Team Champions, proving to be the greatest tag team in the World Wrestling Federation, the United States, and the world. However in between reigns they were challenged by Rob Van Dam and Sabu, who defeated the Outlaws at WrestleMania XIV to win them whilst contracted to ECW. They held the titles for a month before losing the belts back to Billy Gunn and Jesse James, the Outlaws later challenged by the Dudley Boyz, also ECW wrestlers. But last month Sabu and RVD returned to television and showed they wanted another shot, now WWF superstars officially, and the Outlaws showed them a beating last Monday on RAW is WAR, destroying the challengers with ladders! A homage for tonight perhaps? WWF Tag Team Championships - Ladder Match The New Age Outlaws (c) vs Rob Van Dam and Sabu |

X-Pac chased Bill Alfonso away from ringside in this one, as this one was between four wrestlers that could get extremely violent and hardcore, the New Age Outlaws getting a massive ovation from this capacity crowd, but so did the tri-state area regulars, Rob Van Dam and Sabu. Sabu was the one to watch, as his unpredictable nature caused him to allow RVD to go after both members of the Outlaws, Van Dam suffering a neck injury thanks to Gunn and Road Dogg last Monday on RAW is WAR, whilst Sabu grabbed a ladder. Sabu took out both members of the Outlaws before setting it up in the centre, the Outlaws managing to circle the ladder and they took Sabu down. Sabu took a quick fall off of the top of the ladder down to the ringside floor, Road Dogg with several heavy shots to the head of Van Dam, Road Dogg really targeting the neck of the "Whole F'N Show". Billy Gunn brought in another ladder as "Bad Ass" laid it out and attempted to give Van Dam the Piledriver on it in reference to last Monday night on RAW, luckily Van Dam reverse and backdropping Gunn on it! He gave Gunn the Rolling Thunder on Gunn whilst on the ladder, Van Dam tossing Dogg right into the ladder. Van Dam sprung up and gave Gunn the split-legged moonsault, once again on the ladder, and RVD despite a minor neck injury risking severity was pulling out all the stops in this encounter. Sabu re-entered the battlefield, tossing a steel chair into the spine of Road Dogg! Sabu then set the ladder up in the corner and tossed the two Outlaws into it, RVD climbing up and diving off of it with a crossbody on Billy Gunn! Road Dogg followed, trying to go after Van Dam just for Sabu to climb up and spring off with a moonsault! The ladder fell on its side, as Billy Gunn was sat in the corner, Van Dam and Sabu then with a baseball slide into the ladder, and the ladder went right into the crotch of Gunn! Gunn rived in pain, the hardest WWF Tag Team Championship defence for the Outlaws ever perhaps! Sabu climbed a ladder in the center and grabbed the titles, but Road Dogg butted it and Sabu got crotched on the top! He flipped upside down in a tree of woe stuck in the ropes, shades of Shawn Michaels in this very arena at the first Ladder match back at WrestleMania X. Road Dogg went up and grabbed the belt, Rob Van Dam springing off the top rope and rappelling right onto the ladder! RVD and Dogg traded blows over ten feet in the air, RVD with a sunset flip on Dogg to the canvas below! Sabu broke free and was laid out to the ringside area by a big chair shot from Gunn, Gunn bringing the second ladder with him to ringside as well as a chair. Gunn set the ladder up between the announce table and the ring apron, Gunn with another steel chair shot to the spine of Sabu, and Gunn went to the top rope, looking back at Sabu and dropping an elbow on Sabu! RVD was tossed out on top of Sabu as both challengers were on the ladder held up by the announce table and the ring apron. Gunn grabbed Van Dam and set up for a piledriver from the apron onto the ladder, Van Dam with a backdrop and Gunn landed bare spine first on the ladder! Van Dam and Sabu then gave Road Dogg a double hiptoss over the ladder onto the announce table, it not breaking! RVD went for the gold in the ring whilst Sabu came off the middle rope with a springboard moonsault on the Outlaws. Van Dam climbed up and went for the belts, Road Dogg managing to get back in the ring, and Road Dogg traded blows with RVD! Suddenly, Mark Henry and The Godfather ran into the ring, more for D-Generation X from the Nation!? "Sexual Chocolate" grabbed Road Dogg in the electric chair position but Van Dam dove onto Mark Henry! RVD wanted a fair fight in this one, as did Sabu who took out the Godfather, the Nation tossed to ringside. RVD made the mistake of being too kind however, Road Dogg with a snap-fast pumphandle slam out of nowhere! Jesse James crawled up the ladder, finally managing to take the WWF Tag Team Championships!

Winners and STILL WWF Tag Team Champions: The New Age Outlaws @ 17:39 [****1/2]

The New Age Outlaws' theme hit as the crowd erupted, Road Dogg collapsing from the ladder, Billy Gunn crawling into the ring, all four men having put on such an amazing job tonight. The New Age Outlaws celebrated, almost unable to stand in victory with their WWF Tag Team Championshp belts, just about proving their quest as being the best tag team in the world. Rob Van Dam stirred as Sabu tried getting back into the ring, RVD a bloody mess, Gunn cut from the forehead, Sabu caked in blood. The four men stood still, RVD and Sabu finally offering the Outlaws a handshake, and Gunn and Jesse James accepted! The four men hugged, and what an amazing show this was at Madison Square Garden. In the backstage area Mr McMahon and the Stooges were once again on their quest for Jim Cornette, now accompanied by Big Bossman, McMahon about to knock on the door of Kane and Paul Bearer, Bossman guarding the way with his nightstick, gently knocking on the door. Paul Bearer came to the door, asking McMahon what he wanted with his Corporation. McMahon asks if Bearer has seen Jim Cornette. And it seems suspicious, since Cornette is a member of the Corporation, and the Corporation whooped the "Big Red Machine"'s ass last Monday night on RAW. Bearer reacts negatively, telling Vince to keep it down because Kane was motivated for the main event and they couldn't stop him. He tells Vince that they wouldn't want that nerd anyway! Bearer threatens to get Kane to kick their asses, Bossman not backing down but Vince told Bossman to leave as well. Bossman glared at Bearer before leaving. A video package aired, showcasing the rivalry between Shawn Michaels and Triple H, this rivalry escalating from their friendship and the origins of D-Generation X last Fall. The "Heartbreak Kid" was a dominant leader as WWF Champion, offering Hunter the finest in life, the lifestyle of a champion. He gave him the WWF European Championship and were best friends with Chyna for months, until Shawn left for a spinal surgery. Hunter took over DX and took Chyna, Hunter starting to make a rise for the top, Triple H almost winning the WWF Championship at King of the Ring had it not been for Shawn Michaels! HBK returned and wanted an explanation out of Hunter, Triple H no showing week in and week out, getting X-Pac to answer his calls, and Chyna. Shawn finally met Hunter at Fully Loaded and the two engaged in a heated discussion, revealing HBK's prior drug use. The fans slowly turned on Shawn as DX's new found popularity grew, Triple H and Shawn Michaels at each other's throats, and tonight they fight in a Street Fight! Street Fight Shawn Michaels vs Triple H (w/Chyna) |

These two had a lot to fight about, so much history between these two former friends in the past two or three years. The "Heartbreak Kid" wore jeans as Shawn Michaels was all hyped up for this war. Triple H gave Shawn several clotheslines and a spinebuster, Hunter managing to get the better of the former WWF Champion, Shawn finally managing to get in several scoop slams, dropkicking Triple H out of the ring. The leader of D-Generation X went over to discuss something with Chyna, which led to Shawn diving over the top rope with a suicide dive, landing on both DX members! Then moments later, Shawn blatantly clotheslined his former valet in the original DX, Chyna! The crowd booed the "Showstopper" as he shrugged sarcastically, then tossing Hunter into the ring post. Michaels tossed Hunter into the gates to Hell entrance set, chopping him before opening the gate right into the face of Triple H! Shawn grinned, happy with this before going under the apron to pull out a steel chair, slamming it across the spine of his former protegé. Triple H was in a bad way as Shawn slammed it into the face of Hunter, Michaels retreating to lefts and rights, burying Hunter with tape-fisted punches. Michaels then picked Hunter up and tossed him into the steel steps, Shawn motioning for the vintage piledriver on the bottom section of the steps, but Hunter backdropped him onto the steps! Hunter followed with a high knee to the face of Shawn, Michaels falling into the front row. Hunter and Shawn fought through the crowd of the Madison Square Garden, Michaels and Hunter trading offence, Shawn dropping Triple H with an inverted atomic drop, then pushing him down several steps in a tier of the audience, fans surrounding them! Triple H fought back, headbutt to Shawn and then giving HBK the DDT on the concrete! Hunter and Shawn fought to the death in the tiers of the Garden, but the only way to win was to have the deciding fall inside the ring! Hunter and Shawn fought back to ringside, Michaels with a hip toss over the barricade, HBK then picking up a set of steps and slamming them into the skull of Triple H! The fans chanted 'holy sh*t' as Hunter didn't move, Triple H motionless! Chyna then had a steel chair, slamming it over the head of Shawn Michaels! The "Ninth Wonder of the World" proved that she wasn't taking HBK's crap, and she then started to leave, deciding to keep out of this match! Triple H slowly got back up, covered in blood as Michaels' face trickled blood down his forehead. Hunter gave Shawn the Russian legsweep on the floor, then picked up the ringside mats and exposed the concrete, Triple H pulling a sledgehammer out from under the ring, Shawn knocking Hunter right out with a Sweet Chin Music! Hunter was down as Michaels went for the piledriver on the concrete floor, Hunter again managing to backdrop Michaels onto the floor! Hunter pulled a table out from under the ring, preparing Michaels on it before going up to the top rope and crotch chopping HBK! He went for the elbow but Michaels moved, Hunter getting table! Michaels breathed out of desperation, picking Triple H's carcass up and chopping him, both men trading blows near the Spanish announce table. Shawn clotheslined Triple H, removing the table cover before putting Triple H on it, then going up to the apron and crotch chopping Triple H! He springboard and nailed a moonsault right through the table! The fans again chanted 'holy sh*t', Shawn and Triple H motionless! No DX members around for this one, as Michaels stirred first, Hunter following, both men back in the ring for a final trade of blows, Triple H kicking Michaels in the gut and going for the Pedigree but Michaels got out of it and tried the Sweet Chin Music, Hunter catching him and nailing the Pedigree! Triple H covered, and got the three!

Winner: Triple H @ 14:45 [***3/4]

Shawn Michaels remained unconscious as Triple H celebrated his win, the fans cheering with great motivation, applauding Hunter for that amazing match. The leader of D-Generation X was covered in blood, but had defeated his former friend turned enemy in the most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. Affection for Triple H had just risen from this tremendous crowd! The video package for the four-corner elimination main event aired, reminiscent of the opening video package, and the main event for the WWF Championship was up next! We see Jim Cornette lying unconscious on the floor backstage, and Vince McMahon, the Stooges and Big Bossman approached him. Bossman helped Cornette up, the Chairman demanding who did this to the member of the Corporation. He says that it was a man in black. Pat Patterson states that it was The Undertaker, but McMahon still says that it was Stone Cold Steve Austin! Patterson looked questioned by this claim, McMahon telling them that they were going to get Austin back for this. WWF Championship - Four-Corner Elimination Match Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs Kane (w/Paul Bearer) vs The Undertaker vs Mankind |

This was it, after so many months of anticipation, these four men were about to get it on for the WWF Championship. All four men in at all times, this match could only end with pinfall or submission, no such thing as disqualification or count out in this one! Stone Cold took it to the Undertaker, the "Deadman" having walked out on the "Texas Rattlesnake" last Monday night on RAW is WAR against the Corporation. Austin took Kane out of the equation, giving him a Stunner as soon as the match began, Mankind then trying to cover Kane for a near fall. The "Big Red Machine" was hyped from this situation, Kane pounding well away at the deranged Mankind, Mankind not yet yelling opportunity slip away from him though! Mankind low blowed Kane several times and gave him the double arm DDT for a near fall. Mankind then tried giving Kane a steel chair shot, Kane absorbing and knocking Mankind out with a Chokeslam! But when covering, Mankind kicked out! Steve Austin and The Undertaker meanwhile went at it, Austin soon becoming victim of the Brothers of Destruction, again to rumours of Kane and Undertaker being in cohoots! Kane and Undertaker gave Austin a double Chokeslam, covering but Austin kicked out! Mankind then came out of nowhere, steel chair to the skull of the Undertaker! Mankind gave Kane two steel chair shots, then giving the "Big Red Machine" a pulling piledriver! Mankind covered but Kane benchpressed Mankind away! Kane grabbed Mankind upon getting back up, giving Mankind the Tombstone Piledriver! Austin then gave Kane the Stunner, getting a near fall! Undertaker soon gave Austin the Tombstone Piledriver, 'Taker clotheslining his brother to the floor! Perhaps no union in the Brothers of Destruction! Undertaker gave Mankind a second Tombstone Piledriver, finally putting Mankind away!

Mankind has been eliminated @ 8:30

Now three men left, Mankind remained unconscious as his destiny was gone! The Undertaker and Kane were left against Stone Cold Steve Austin, this had to be going perfect for the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation, the "Texas Rattlesnake" left against this conspiracy of Undertaker and Kane being united as one alliance! And both of them were hungry for the WWF Championship Austin's holding. Austin tried to fight them off, using the steel chair as Kane didn't manage to absorb a chair to the skull this time, Austin with a DDT to Kane, Austin then being given the clothesline by 'Taker. The "Deadman" set up the Old School for Kane, Kane however being too strong and lifting 'Taker off the ropes, 'Taker turning it into the tornado DDT! Undertaker covered but Kane kicked out! Austin got back involved, Lou Thesz press to Undertaker! Austin gave Kane the flapjack into the top rope, then clotheslining him to the floor. Undertaker tried the snake eyes on Stone Cold, Austin slipping out and picking up the steel chair! Austin slammed it into the cranium of 'Taker, the "Lord of Darkness" stumbling! Paul Bearer got on the apron, another sign of conspiracy, Austin knocking him off! Austin kicked 'Taker in the gut getting ready for the Stunner, Stone Cold's attempt turned into a bounce off the ropes, 'Taker picking Steve Austin up in the Tombstone position, Austin slipping out and going for the Stunner again, 'Taker picking Austin up for a Chokeslam! Kane then climbed back into the ring, grabbing 'Taker by the throat as well as Austin! Kane drove 'Taker down with a Chokeslam, then giving Austin one too! Kane covered the WWF Champion for a near fall, 'Taker then grabbing Kane by the throat as he got back up! Undertaker went for the Tombstone Piledriver, Kane flipping 'Taker over and dropping him with a Tombstone of his own! Kane covered and that was it!

The Undertaker has been eliminated @ 14:11

The Undertaker slowly rolled out of the ring, Kane and Stone Cold Steve Austin remaining as the "Texas Rattlesnake" traded blows with Kane, trying to get an advantage over the "Big Red Machine", Austin clotheslining Kane and fatigue had set in on the once thought to be invincible Kane with no feeling. Austin gave him the middle fingers but Undertaker came in, the Tombstone Piledriver to Austin! The crowd booed as 'Taker had perhaps just turned his back on the WWF for the Corporation! 'Taker started to leave, Vince McMahon and Big Bossman making their way out to ringside, Kane preparing for the Chokeslam on Austin, Austin managing to fight out, the Stunner to Kane! Austin went for the cover but John Tenta climbed in, Tenta trying to toss Austin into the corner and prepare the Avalanche just for Austin to send Tenta into the corner! Big Bossman ran at Austin with the nightstick, the "Texas Rattlesnake" sending Bossman into his teammate, Tenta! Austin clotheslined Bossman out of the ring and Tenta bailed, Vince McMahon picking up the steel chair and swinging for Austin! Vince got Kane and Kane stumbled, Austin with the Stunner to McMahon! Austin covered, but Bossman and Tenta knocked out the referee! The WWF Champion was irate, Austin preparing another Stunner on Kane when Shawn Michaels got into the ring, Sweet Chin Music to Austin! HBK grinned at Vince and joined them at ringside hugging, Kane recovering as he picked up Austin, Austin went for the Stunner but Kane spun Austin around, giving Austin the Tombstone Piledriver for the shocking three count!

Winner and NEW WWF Champion: Kane @ 19:50 [***1/2]

The crowd exploded into fury as the "Big Red Machine" celebrated his win, Kane and Paul Bearer taking the WWF Championship and standing tall in the ring! Kane had done it, after ten months in the World Wrestling Federation! Vince McMahon shook Paul Bearer's hand, as Big Bossman, John Tenta, Jeff Jarrett, Steven Regal, the Stooges excluding Jim Cornette and new member Shawn Michaels stood in the ring. So many questions to be answered! Why did Shawn side with the devil? Are 'Taker and Kane on the same page? Are Kane and Undertaker now members of the Corporation? SummerSlam goes off the air!

Summerslam 98:
- Been waiting for this one. Good job opening with D'Lo/Edge; was anticipating this one. Chest protector comes through for D'Lo again! Good to see him retain man. Nice Mankind promo; definitely captured the deranged one. Not sure how I feel about RVD/Sabu being full time WWF superstars. Next match bores me honestly. I guess its good Shamrock won. Oh great, I guess this continues then. Good to see Owen retain but I feel he is over the European Championship honestly. More from this feud too? Ugh, another feud I really don't like. Just end it please; good to see Vader make an appearance too. Holy moly; Vader went over Regal?! Good to see this man. Mike Awesome?! What. Obvious Rock win over Runnels here. Holy poop, everyone is everywhere in this tag ladder match and I like how you had the Outlaws retain Dan. Good job there. Not a fan of the handshake/hug though. Good job with Triple H going over as it would make no sense for Michaels too. I like this definitely. Confusing ending makes me confused haha Kane as Champ should be interesting though. Good show dan, looking for more!

D’Lo/Edge is a good opener for the show, but I don’t like Brown retaining. I felt like this would’ve been a great point to put the title on Edge and make him a star before he really ended up being one. Glad to see Shamrock went over Severn, who can’t be a big asset for this. A very good match between Owen and Jarrett. I was kind of surprised that Owen retained the championship, actually. I think its clear from the aftermath that he will win it eventually. Didn’t really like Snow/Venis. Enjoyable match between Vader/Regal. I could really get behind a push for Vader. Disappointed that Regal lost to him, making his win over Austin a distant memory. I’ll assume that was Mike Awesome debuting and all I can say is HELL YEAH. No surprise that Rock went over Runnels. Was the NAO appearance before their ladder match really necessary? Makes me think the match should’ve been on earlier. A good ladder match, but the hug was ridiculous. As soon as I read that it made RVD and Sabu lose any of their hardcore appeal in this. I pictured them as rebels and misfits. They hug the Outlaws after the build up? Didn’t like that. The street fight was obviously done well and HHH going over is marvelous. I’m kind of surprised that Kane won the title as I was expecting Taker to walk out the champion. I don’t like Michaels coming back out so soon and costing Austin the championship. Was HHH’s beating not that vicious? Should’ve but the street fight closer to the middle of the show so that HBK would realistically have some recovery time to make another appearance if at all. Overall, pretty solid pay per view. Didn’t like the decision for the opener, ladder match and the Michaels run in for the main event but the matches were all pretty entertaining, I suppose.

Brown/Edge was a great way to kick SummerSlam off. I was fully expecting Edge to walk away with the championship, however, I like Brown retaining and gaining even more momentum. Doubt the WWF would be allowed to use UFC footage, but whatever. Shamrock going over was the correct call and now I'm expecting a Shamrock/Blackman feud. Owen Hart retaining over Jeff Jarrett was the right call. Venis/Snow doesn't interest me in the slightest and the fact Venis lost via Disqualification can only mean this one isn't over. Vader/Regal sounded great. Glad that Vader got the victory and Awesome debuting post-match was superb. Rock over Runnels was obvious. Actually quite surprised to see the New Age Outlaws retain. Not a fan of them all hugging afterwards. The HBK/HHH match sounded amazing. Kane walking out of SummerSlam as champion is surprising, yet I really like it. Interested to see where you go from here especially with the big ending to the WWF Championship match and all the confusion surrounding Michaels appearance, etc.

WWF SummerSlam; Very shocked at D-Lo Brown defeating Edge. I was totally expecting Edge to take the belt, but I'm sort of pleased he didn't as I've always been a fan of Brown. I don't see Mankind winning tonight, I'm hoping for The Undertaker to win, personally. Glad that Ken Shamrock won, but unusual finish with him claiming that Blackman made the wrong call because Severn never tapped. Glad to see Owen Hart retain the European Championship, he deserves this reign. The post-match guitar attack simply says that this isn't over. Again, the disqualification finish can only mean it isn't over between Val Venis and Al Snow. A good victory for Vader, and the debut of Mike Awesome is even better! An obvious victory for The Rock, and I can't wait to see where you take his rise to the Main Event. I was hoping for Rob Van Dam and Sabu to take the WWF Tag Team Championships here, but never mind. Didn't like them hugging, I thought The New Age Outlaws were heels? A good victory for Triple H, but this sort of snubs Michaels' recent heel turn for me. Hopefully he can do something good with it. Shocking victory for Kane in the Main Event, and the interference from Shawn Michaels is very interesting. It'll be good to see where this goes from here, with Michaels potentially joining The Corporation. A good show overall.

Summerslam:
- Right choice to open the show, I'm really liking the way you've built Edge up into a legitimate challenger. A little disappointed that he didn't get the win, it would have been massive for him to take the title at such a big show, but the cheap finish hopefully sets up a rematch. - Interesting idea to have these two have a 'shoot fight', it would certainly be entertaining to watch. I don't think you needed to finish it like that though, it just ruins the whole shoot aspect to it, I'd have much preferred a legit finish to this one. - Hart/ Jarrett was one of the matches I was most looking forward to, and it didn't disappoint. For me you've done a better job of building up the European title than you have the Intercontinental. Good to see Hart taking the victory, although I'm not so sure on the idea of this feud continuing. I really think it would benefit both men to move on to something new. - The cheap finish for Snow and Venis was a good choice, and I rarely think that for midcard feuds. It plays up Snow's insanity but also sets up a continued feud between the two. It might just be me but I'd really love to see an Owen Hart/ Al Snow feud for the European title. - I'm really enjoying how you've used Regal since bringing him in and while I'd have liked to have seen him take a big victory here it made more sense for Vader to come out on top. Hole crap, bringing Mike Awesome in is amazing. Admittingly I doubt enough people would know him to get an 'awesome' cant going, especially when he's just taken out a fan favorite, but hell, it's Mike Awesome! -The Rock was obviously going over here, but you did it in a way that keeps Runnels looking strong. Rock seems to have been stuck on the verge of breaking into the main event for a while now and I really want you to pull the trigger. I still don't think this DX/ NAO feud makes any proper sense. - I was liking everything about the tag team ladder match until we got to the result. My first problem is that this should have been Van Dam and Sabu's night. You've built them up as extreme so this was their match, they should have taken the titles. And then they hug? It makes no sense and for me you've just stripped Van Dam and Sabu of all of their 'extreme' credibility. By far the worst booking decision you've made on this show and a big negative for me. - Solid street fight, the physicality of the whole match was great. I do think that it was overkill putting it on immediately after the tag team ladder match, the crowd would be burnt out watching both of them. I'm split on Triple H winning since I'd have liked the feel good moment of Michaels taking the victory, but of course you have to push the guaranteed future main eventer. -I always enjoyed the elimination aspect to four way matches, it adds an extra level of complexity especially in the later stages. You did that well by having Austin up against both Taker and Kane. I honestly was expecting Taker to take the title here but I actually like the idea of Kane as champion a lot more. However I didn't like the way Michaels joined the corporation. He's just had a physical street fight, it reduces the impact of that match to have him appear twenty minutes later looking fine. - A good show overall but some of the booking was just poor. The result and aftermath of the tag title match really brought things down for me and Michaels appearance was simply badly timed with the street fight. Despite that you've got a good building block now with Kane as champion and The Corporation angle in full swing.

THE BRIT REPORT Presented by Mike Potter on Thursday 3rd September 1998
-- You can see my review of Sunday Night HeAT and SummerSlam here.
-- WWF RAW is WAR has been pre-empted for the next two weeks due to the US Tennis Open taking over its' timeslot on USA Network. Instead, two Saturday Night RAWs will air from 8/9 CT on Saturdays. In addition, WWF.com has added a feature which shows two or three matches online exclusively which was unable to air on WWF television. This could very well make and develop some decent characters.
-- Apparently the Pitbulls of ECW fame had a tryout at the RAW tapings on RAW. In addition, it was rumoured that they blew their opportunity and blew various spots.
-- WCW Monday Nitro drew a 6.0 rating unopposed. Nitro may very well have the edge in the Monday Night Wars due to RAW's pre-emption in the next two weeks.
-- Several dates have been added to the WWF pay-per-view calendar, as you can see below: WWF Breakdown: In Your House - 09/27/98 WWF Judgement Day: In Your House - 10/18/98 WWF Survivor Series - 11/15/98 WWF In Your House - 12/13/98 WWF Royal Rumble - 01/24/99 WWF In Your House - 02/14/99 WWF WrestleMania XV - 03/28/99 WWF In Your House - 04/25/99 WWF In Your House - 05/23/99 WWF King of the Ring - 06/27/99 WWF In Your House - 07/25/99

Would've loved an Edge victory as he's my favourite superstar of all the times, but he is a huge rookie at this point and D-Lo makes for a better champion. Glad you had him go over. The finish was clever too btw. I fully expect Undertaker to win tonight, so honestly I think Mankind's an outsider, and one with no chance at that. Good promo by him, but I don't rate his chances. I would've liked you to have stuck with Owen vs Shamrock over Severn vs Shamrock. Just feel like this feud wouldn't be well recieved in this era. However, do something like this in 2011, results would be waaaay different! Like the screwy finish, kept both guys looking strong, and set up potential feuds with Blackman for both guys. Owen and Jarrett would have good matches I'm sure, friends always seem to. Would've liked Double J over, but Owen remaining champ works for me! Do like how it evolved into a bigger feud with the aftermath, I like it! Snow is a waste of time on PPV, I don't know how over he is, but he just never seems to win, haha. Seems a bit pointless featuring him so heavily. Regal vs Vader, holy battle of the hard hitters that'd be. Glad Vader went over corporate Regal. Glad you put it on PPV, good stuff. MIKE AWESOME?! TOO ING AWESOME! Woooops made that mistake, aha :') Rock had to gover Dustin really, wouldn't have helped anyone had he lost. DX inadvertantly costing Sabu and RVD the titles? Wow, good finish. If that set up some kind of ECW vs. DX feud I'd cream, aha. Genuinely surprised NAO went over as well. Good stuff! Triple H completing his face turn here in a big way, needed to beat HBK in all honesty. I would like HBK to dissapear again now, but if he doesn't, that works as well. Not sure if its wise to have a four way now when Final Four is in December, right? Don't get me wrong, its a good main event, haha. Mankind out first, as expected. TAKER ELIMINATED?! Shocked/10! Wow, HBK joining the corporation?! A big shocker there, though so soon after the street fight with HHH, not sure about the match placement. Kane as the Champ, man, unexpected for sure! Excellent close to a well booked ppv, keep rolling like this Dan!

| WWF RAW is WAR: Saturday 5th September 1998 |

New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven Coliseum

A replay from last Sunday's SummerSlam aired, as it was the epic four-corner elimination match for the WWF Championship, Stone Cold Steve Austin putting it all on the line for his title against Kane, Mankind and the Undertaker, three monsters in the ring. It finally came down to Austin and Kane, as the "Big Red Machine" managed to beat Austin after interference from the Corporation as well as the newest member, Shawn Michaels! So many questions answered tonight! The opening video package for RAW is WAR aired, and we are here for Saturday Night RAW! Pyrotechnics went off, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler at ringside.
The crowd booed loudly as the Corporation made their way to the ring, Vince McMahon leading Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, Shane McMahon, Jeff Jarrett, Steven Regal, Big Bossman and John Tenta out to the ring. Every member of the Corporation was here excluding Shawn Michaels and Jim Cornette surprisingly. McMahon talked about how last night was a night of surprises, as nobody before last night expected several members of the World Wrestling Federation roster to join his Corporation. The idea of his corporate empire is to prove that they are above everybody else in the WWF locker room. All that defy will be isolated by the Corporation. It's that simple. Shane McMahon took over, talking about how they promised to make new stars in their corporation and bring in only the best, and that is why tonight we have the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels! The crowd booed louder as the theme of Shawn hit, Michaels making his way out to the ring with some stubble, the "Heartbreak Kid" prancing to the ring in a suit as HBK talked about how last night was not a good night for Shawn Michaels. He got his ass kicked by Triple H, and he's man enough to admit that. But he does not believe that he could do it again! So he sold his soul for a better cause. And look what he has now? Vince then tells Shawn that he hasn't done that part yet. Shawn reacts strangely, McMahon then deciding that in the advent of Commissioner Slaughter's leaving of the company, our new Commissioner is Shawn Michaels!
Suddenly, the theme of the "Texas Rattlesnake" hit as the crowd erupted, Stone Cold Steve Austin storming down to the ring, Austin face to face with the Corporation! The fans cheered loudly as Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon stood behind the "Lord of Lords", "Double J", Big Bossman and John Tenta, Austin asking what the hell this was all about before he starts kicking these corporate asses! The fans cheered as McMahon told Stone Cold that after his performance act as WWF Champion this past few months, McMahon doesn't have to give Steve Austin a damn thing! Austin laughs, telling Vince that this was a funny joke, because if McMahon doesn't give him another WWF Championship opportunity, then whenever the Chairman is alone without any of his suckups around, he is going to find himself a big can of whoop ass! The fans cheered as Shawn Michaels then cuts in, telling Austin that as his first act as Commissioner of the World Wrestling Federation, Stone Cold will face Kane for the WWF Championship in tonight's main event! McMahon asked Shawn what the deal was, Michaels then telling him that he was only doing what's right. He smirked before John Tenta went after Austin, Stone Cold with the Stunner on him immediately! Austin rolled out of the ring wisely, Stone Cold getting what he wanted, the Corporation fuming!
-- Commercial Break --
We return to see Mr McMahon and Shawn Michaels walking, the Chairman asking the Commissioner what his logic was in that, the "Heartbreak Kid" telling Vince that he has a lot in store for Stone Cold Steve Austin. He wanted his first act as Commissioner to be big, and believe him, it will be when he sees what he has in store later tonight.
1) Dan Severn vs Ken Shamrock |

A rematch from last Sunday night, as the "Beast" Dan Severn was bettered by the "World's Most Dangerous Man", unfortunately the match ended controversially as the official for the match, "Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman rang for the bell without Severn actually tapping out to the Ankle Lock. Severn was here to redeem himself in standard ruling tonight as Severn forced Shamrock around, the "Beast" pounding on Shamrock and going to work on the shoulder of the "World's Most Dangerous Man", Severn managing to pin Shamrock down and drop several knees across the right shoulder. Shamrock soon fired out, belly to back suplex connecting, and the Ankle Lock was applied! Shamrock had Severn on the verge of tapping, Severn scrambling to the ropes. Shamrock continued the fight with Severn until Steve Blackman appeared at ringside, Shamrock somewhat distracted and Severn came out of nowhere with the Beastchoker! Shamrock passed out as the "Lethal Weapon" watched on.

Winner: Dan Severn @ 4:43 [**]

Dan Severn celebrated his win to boos, the "Beast" having avenged the screwjob finish from last weekend's SummerSlam. Ken Shamrock slowly regained consciousness, the official aiding him but the "Lethal Weapon" knocked Shamrock out with the Martial Arts Kick! Blackman left, what is the deal with Blackman!? In the backstage area we see Kane and Paul Bearer arrive at the arena, the "Big Red Machine" carrying the amazing WWF Championship on his shoulder, and we are expected to hear from Paul Bearer and the WWF Champion later tonight, Kane also expected to defend the title against former champ, Stone Cold Steve Austin! -- Commercial Break --2) Rob Van Dam and Sabu (w/Bill Alfonso) vs The Oddities (w/The Jackyl) |

The two former ECW wrestlers were officially WWF superstars, and fought several days after the biggest match in their career, and a match of the year candidate against the New Age Outlaws at SummerSlam. RVD and Sabu were sore and Sabu was still bandaged at the ribs, the "Whole Damn Show" with a bandaged wrist and arm, as they went into this battle with Prince Albert and Darren Drozdov expecting trouble. Drozdov and Albert worked over Van Dam, keeping the athletic Van Dam from Michigan down, going after the weak arm of RVD. RVD soon finally fired back, managing to escape a shoulderbreaker by Albert and he spin kicked Albert down! Sabu got the tag and he ran in, hurricanrana to Albert and then managing to take Droz down with a tornado DDT! The Jackyl tried getting involved but Bill Alfonso took Jackyl down, the two fighting on the floor! Sabu nailed the Arabian Facebuster on Albert for the win!

Winners: Rob Van Dam and Sabu @ 5:16 [**1/4]

Rob Van Dam and Sabu celebrated their win, the sky being the limit for the newest tag team in the World Wrestling Federation officially, Bill Alfonso raising their hands high. Where will these two phenomenons go next? In the backstage area we see Al Snow carrying Head, as he walked into Mankind, Mankind getting a great ovation from the crowd. Al complimented him on his win last night, Mankind complimenting Snow on his loss! Snow told Mankind that that hurt his feelings, but it's alright because Val Venis had it coming! Mankind laughs, telling Al that Val definitely did, but he's going to go and get ready for his match tonight with Steven Regal. Snow wishes Mankind luck, telling Mankind he's going to go and get ready for his match on Shotgun. Mick laughs, telling Al that that was a good joke. The Undertaker was shown, the "Lord of Darkness" putting on his gloves when suddenly Michael Cole approached 'Taker, asking him how he feels about the rumours circulating in the World Wrestling Federation about him joining the Corporation. Undertaker calls it all pure speculation. The "Deadman" has turned his back on these fans, why? Because being so nice hasn't got him WWF Championship gold. And his baby brother gets a title shot? 'Taker tells Cole that he does everything because he is the Undertaker. For him. And he will not rest in peace until he has destroyed his brother Kane, and taken the WWF Championship back to Death Valley. -- Commercial Break --We return to RAW is WAR as the New Age Outlaws were in the ring, Billy Gunn and Road Dogg Jesse James talking about how they won their amazing match with Rob Van Dam and Sabu last Sunday and made history, in the first ever tag team ladder match. Gunn talks about how RVD and Sabu definitely proved that they were as good a tag team as the New Age Outlaws. The fans cheered them as Road Dogg brings up an order of business, that being the Nation! Billy mentions that last Sunday they tried to get involved in D-Generation X's business, in X-Pac's match and then their match. The Outlaws call the Nation out. 3) Non-Title Match: Rikishi Phatu and Mark Henry (w/The Godfather) vs The New Age Outlaws |

This was expected to be quite a hard-hitting match as Billy Gunn and Mark Henry started, the New Age Outlaws of D-Generation X taking on two of the largest members of the Nation (accompanied by third largest member of the Nation, the Godfather). "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry has shown a mean streak as of late, Mark pounding away at Gunn, Henry with somewhat a fond interest in DX's valet, Chyna. Road Dogg got the tag though, the WWF Tag Team Champions assembling and double-teaming Rikishi Phatu! Mark Henry got in as well, all four men going at it, the New Age Outlaws with stereo dropkicks to the Nation members, Mark Henry set up for the Fame-Asser! But suddenly the Nation's theme hit, and The Rock, D-Lo Brown and The Godfather all got into the ring, attacking the New Age Outlaws!

Winners: The New Age Outlaws @ 3:46 by disqualification [*3/4]

The crowd booed as the Rock planted Road Dogg with the Rock Bottom, the Godfather and Mark Henry stomping away at Billy Gunn! Mark Henry and D-Lo Brown then joined in, Frog Splash with the chest protector from the WWF Intercontinental Champion to Gunn, Big Splash by Mark Henry to Road Dogg! Rock took a microphone, as he began to talk about how bullsh*t has occurred in the World Wrestling Federation, and its name is Hunter Hearst Helmsley! The crowd booed, Rock talking about how D-Generation X are a force that has been claimed to be more popular than the Outlaws, and the Nation don't see it. They don't see it whatsoever! Rock challenges Triple H to bring his A-game, because the people want to see DX get their asses handed to them! The theme of D-Generation X hit as Triple H, X-Pac and Chyna made their way out to the ring, Hunter talking about how he wasn't ready for a fight tonight, but X-Pac might be interested! X-Pac took the microphone, telling the Nation that they have been up his ass for weeks now, and he is not going to let these mofos get him down and get in his way! X-Pac tells Rock to get his cronies out of here, because he was about to show him a lesson! -- Commercial Break --An advertisement aired, promoting the next pay-per-view, Breakdown: In Your House, live on Sunday, September 27th, 1998 from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

We saw clips of during the commercial break as the New Age Outlaws managed to recover, Triple H and X-Pac also joining the fray, DX managing to rid the ring of the Nation excluding the Rock! This match was full on intense, as X-Pac was here to get retribution after two Nation attacks in previous weeks, X-Pac originally only interested in avenging Chyna after Mark Henry tried it on with her. The Rock got in several lefts and rights, the "Brahma Bull" fresh off of defeating Dustin Runnels last Sunday at SummerSlam. Nobody was permitted to be at ringside for this, and X-Pac was all over Rock as he fired away with kicks left, right and center. Rock almost suffered defeat to the X-Factor, but Rock managed to shove him away, planting the DDT on X-Pac. Rock went for the People's Elbow, managing to connect and he covered for the three!

Winner: The Rock @ 6:58 [**1/2]

The crowd booed as the Rock celebrated his win, D-Lo Brown soon wandering down to the ring, the WWF Intercontinental Champion raising the hand of the "Brahma Bull" when suddenly Triple H darted to the ring, Hunter clotheslining Rock and planting D-Lo with the spinebuster, and Triple H had ran off the Nation, attending to X-Pac. We cut to the backstage area where we see "Double J" Jeff Jarrett walking down the corridor with Steven Regal, Jarrett asking where the hell Jim Cornette was, the "Lord of Lords" responding by saying that he hasn't seen him since last Sunday when he was attacked by someone. Jarrett tells Regal that he needs to watch his back when he goes out there and faces Mankind. Regal laughs, telling "Double J" that he'll be fine. Jarrett tells Regal that that's what they all say, Jarrett mentioning that he'll have his back no matter what. -- Commercial Break --An advertisement for Sunday Night HeAT airs, and it promotes the first WWF Light Heavyweight Championship of Abismo Negro, WWF European Champion Owen Hart meeting WWF Intercontinental Champion D-Lo Brown, plus the Undertaker will be in action with John Tenta! All this Sunday from 6PM on USA. Sable was shown making her way to the ring, and the luscious blonde was here to address the WWF audience. Sable talks about how she's happy to say that she has been trying to persuade Vince McMahon and the Corporation heads for months, and it has finally been announced that we will crown a WWF Womens Champion in three weeks at Breakdown, in a womens battle royal match! Sable talks about how she can't wait to claim that belt and put it around her beautiful waist, because when she gets that title, she will flaunt around on TV in it, maybe wearing nothing BUT that title! Suddenly, the theme of Jacqueline hit, and Jacqueline came out angry, talking about how she was the better wrestler, not Sable! Sable asked if that was so, inviting Jacqueline to a match right here and now!

This was an interesting match as Sable and Jacqueline, rivals for most of 1998 fought in a catfight style bout, the blonde managing to outwrestle Jacqueline in the opening minutes, winning the rumble around the ring until Jackie finally fired back, kick to the spine of Sable, and Jackie continued, tossing Sable shoulder-first into the ring post. Jacqueline continued with a reverse DDT, Jackie calling it for the finish with the tornado DDT just for Sable to toss her through the ropes out of the ring! Luna Vachon walked to ringside, but Sable nailed her with the baseball slide! Sable went for the Sable Bomb, but Jacqueline turned it into a DDT, capturing the three!

Winner: Jacqueline @ 2:48 [3/4]

Jacqueline celebrated her win to boos, Luna Vachon joining her until Sunny ran to the ring, Sunny trying to go after Luna, Jacqueline striking her down with a martial arts kick to the ribs, Jackie then dropping Sunny with the DDT as well! Jacqueline and Luna left together, but only one woman can win the WWF Womens Championship! Michael Hayes is in the backstage area with Owen Hart, and Hayes asks the WWF European Champion about his experience of being in Madison Square Garden. The "Black Hart" told Hayes that he's been in the limelight at MSG before, defeating his brother, Bret, but he's on his own and he hopes to be up there again very damn soon! Because the sky is the limit for Owen, and nobody can stop him. Suddenly, Edge appeared, Owen asking who he was. Edge tells Owen that he doesn't know him, then leaving. Owen was left confused, the "Black Hart" not knowing who he was. -- Commercial Break --

Vader easily managed to get through these two, Too Much, the flamboyant duo of light-heavyweights, Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor managing to get in a fair bit of offence, lefts and rights digging at the mastodon, Vader but Vader tossed Taylor and Christopher away, then following up with the splash in the corner to both men, sidewalk slam to Christopher and then a pumphandle slam to Taylor, as Vader proved how dominant he was in the World Wrestling Federation. Vader followed up, massive powerbomb to Taylor, and then he followed up and tossed Christopher right out of the ring, into the barricade! Vader went up and nailed the Vader Bomb for an easy win against Too Much!

Winner: Vader @ 1:45 [N/A]

Vader celebrated his win, as Scott Taylor was down and clutching his ribs whilst Brian Christopher got up, yelling at Jerry the "King" Lawler what kind of Dad he was! Christopher got up in the color commentator's face, Christopher having acknowledged Jerry as being his father for the first time on WWF television! Lawler got up as Christopher slapped Jerry, the "King" starting to chase Brian as Christopher ran up the ringside area away from his father! In the backstage area Val Venis was shown in the bathroom when Kurrgan walked in, the "Big Valbowski" at the urinal. He looked down at Kurrgan as he was peeing, Venis telling Kurrgan that he figured it would be bigger than that. Venis laughed with Kurrgan, slapping him on the back before heading out. Steven Regal was shown nearing the Gorilla position, and the "Lord of Lords" will be in action next! -- Commercial Break --We go to the office of Shawn Michaels and Mr McMahon as we return to RAW is WAR, the Chairman of the board asking the new Commissioner what his next act as Commissioner was. Shawn talked about how Kane's scheduled to defend the WWF Championship tonight, but how about they have some fun with who the next contender to the WWF Championship is after Stone Cold Steve Austin fails tonight. McMahon laughs, telling Michaels how much he likes his confidence. He talks about next week on RAW taking a page out of their rivals' book, which he has decided to rename the "Brawl 4 All". McMahon asks Shawn to explain, Michaels telling him he'll explain on HeAT tomorrow night! 7) Mankind vs Steven Regal |

Mankind came close to the WWF Championship last Sunday at SummerSlam but to no avail, and Mankind decided that it time to regain some momentum against the "Lord of Lords" Steven Regal. Regal didn't have a good night either, as Regal came up short against the mastodon Vader. Mankind traded blows with Regal as the match began, Regal with more of a hard-hitting style. Regal managed to catch Mankind off-guard with a headlock, Mankind matching up with several scoop slams and the deranged Mankind got Regal with the inverted atomic drop. Mankind soon prepared for the Mandible Claw, Regal managing to break it, then giving Mankind a high knee to the face of Mankind! Regal followed it with a big DDT, Regal soon after applying the Regal Stretch! Mankind tried to break it up but Regal kept it applied, Mankind with the Mandible Claw locked in! Jeff Jarrett rolled into the ring though, "Double J" with the acoustic guitar slamming it over the head of Mankind!

Winner: Mankind @ 6:23 [**1/4]

Mankind collapsed on all fours as Jeff Jarrett followed up with the Stroke, "Double J" standing tall with the "Lord of Lords". The Corporation members got out of the ring when Mankind suddenly stood back up again! The fans cheered as Mankind yelled that they'd have to do more than that to get Mankind down! We suddenly cut to Kane and Paul Bearer, as the WWF Champion was stood with the title on his shoulder, Bearer talking about how there is competition for the "Big Red Machine"s title. He hears about this Brawl 4-All situation, and he doesn't like the sound of it! Then about Stone Cold Steve Austin again tonight, nonetheless the "Big Red Machine" will advance and overcome all! When Kane debuted, Paul stated himself that he would dominate and overcome all. Kane has more wins over Steve Austin than anybody else in the World Wrestling Federation, and eight months ago he said that Kane would dominate and be WWF Champion. Tonight, he proves that he is no corporate charade like his brother, the Undertaker! -- Commercial Break --Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler talked about Stone Cold challenging Kane in a few moments for the WWF Championship, then reminding everybody that next week's RAW is WAR will be pre-empted due to the US Open, and will be in this timeslot once again next Saturday night at 9PM on USA. 8) WWF Championship: Kane (w/Paul Bearer) (c) vs Stone Cold Steve Austin |

Another bout that was gripping as it was intense, the "Big Red Machine" managing to win the WWF Championship from Stone Cold Steve Austin last night, and this was the "Texas Rattlesnake"'s rematch clause at stake. Paul Bearer was at ringside to try and screw Stone Cold out of the WWF Championship at any opportunity possible, Kane working over the neck of Austin and doing it successful. The "Big Red Machine" seemed unstoppable but Austin was hell bent on taking back the title he held religiously for five months, Stone Cold catching Kane with the Lou Thesz press, pounding on Kane whenever he could. But Kane kept getting back up. Finally, Stone Cold levelled Kane with the Stunner, Austin going for the cover but a gong was heard! The crowd looked confused as lightning hit, the lights dimming. Austin got up, confused, and then suddenly Kane dropped Austin with the Chokeslam, picking up the win!

Winner: Kane @ 7:09 [**1/4]

Kane celebrated his win to loud boos, setting off his pyrotechnics. Lightning went off again, as Paul Bearer kept looking intimidated, Kane climbing out of the ring and leaving calmly whilst Bearer looked frightened, more signs of the Undertaker? Stone Cold Steve Austin tried getting back up when suddenly the same man that attacked Vader at SummerSlam, the long black-haired built up man in black trunks giving Austin the powerbomb! He stood tall as Shawn Michaels came out to the rampway, thumbs up and happy, RAW is WAR goes off the air!

RAW September 5, 1998: It was a good show, enjoyable read with lots of good action. I'm very intrigued to see who attacked Austin (and Vader at SummerSlam). Michaels seemingly approving of the "mystery" guy makes things interesting, so should be fun to see what happens there. Good work.

WWF Raw Saturday Night Good opening segment. Slandered promo from the Corporation. Shawn as the Commissioner is alright, we've both taken things my real life. Good involvement from Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the title match against Kane tonight should be great. Good win for Dan Severn to remain credible. Blackman laying Shamrock out is interesting, but I can't see good matches between these two. Obvious win for Rob Van Dam and Sabu over The Oddities. I liked that little segment between Al Snow and Mankind. Good to see a Nation versus D-Generation X feud here. X-Pac versus The Rock up next should be a great match. Nice victory for The Rock over X-Pac. I hope to see some great matches with Triple H and Rock, and D-Lo Brown and X-Pac. Those four had some of the best wrestling matches of 1998. So glad to here you're bringing in the Women's Championship. It is needed to keep them relevant. I hope you bring in some new talent. Funny little segment with Owen Hart and Edge. Match at Breakdown: In Your House? I sure do hope so. Predictable win for Vader of the team of Too Much. Christopher slapping his father, Jerry Lawler is interesting and I wonder where this storyline will lead to. I'm guessing "Brawl 4 All" will be a huge battle royal. Nice DQ victory for Mankind, but I hope this all leads to a feud between Jeff Jarrett and Mankind. Ha, I knew Kane would retain, but The Undertaker possibly helping Kane is great stuff. OH SHIT IT'S MIKE AWESOME AGAIN. Awesome, no pun intended, ending. Good show, Dan.

Saturday Night RAW; Commissioner Shawn Michaels? I dig that. Stone Cole Steve Austin taking on Kane for the WWF Championship tonight? Hopefully you don't rob Kane of the title like in real life. Shocked to see Dan Severn go over Ken Shamrock in their rematch, but Blackman's involvement makes sense. Blackman knocking out Shamrock after is big. I'm glad that you gave Rob Van Dam and Sabu a victory to make up for their loss at SummerSlam. I hope you have big plans for them. Interesting situation you have with The New Age Outlaws and The Nation. A DQ finish is the right way to go, really. The Rock versus Triple H? The rise to superstardom has begun it seems. An obvious victory for The Rock over X-Pac, but I liked Triple H's attack afterwards. A good win for Jacqueline, but the divas didn't even interest me back then, let alone now, haha. Interesting stuff with Owen Hart and Edge. Big win for Vader in that Handicap Match. Good stuff with Brian Christopher and Jerry Lawler. Glad to see Mankind go over, and then Jeff Jarrett attacking afterwards to keep The Corporation on top. Very happy to see you kept the WWF Championship on Kane, and the messages from The Undertaker are always good. Mike Awesome attacking again? I love it. A good show overall.

I don’t get why Michaels is the Commish. Vince has the power as the owner, and not having a babyface commish to combat that doesn’t make much sense to me. Severn over Shamrock is a shame. I hope Shamrock destroys Severn to send him packing sooner rather than later. Not a fan of RVD and Sabu working for the WWF after losing at SummerSlam. I was under the impression it was a one shot deal and now they are back fulltime after a loss. Glad to see the Nation/DX feud going on. Owen/Edge should a be fun program. Vader winning the handicap match was fine and I really liked the way you may have turned Lawler into a babyface, or at least trying to. Decent match between Mankind/Regal, I could get into a Mankind/Jarrett feud. Okay main event between Kane and Austin. I’m just happy Kane got a pin fall victory as champ. Mike Awesome being treated as a main event guy is great, too. Once it got past the first hour it became a solid show, I thought.

| WWF HeAT: Sunday 6th September 1998 |

New Haven, Connecticut - New Haven Coliseum

The opening video package aired, and we cut to the New Haven Coliseum for Sunday Night HeAT! Jerry "The King" Lawler and Shane McMahon welcome us to the show, and review what happened last Sunday at SummerSlam, as well as last night on Saturday Night RAW.
The theme of Shawn Michaels hit to kick off the show to loud boos, the "Heartbreak Kid" then strutting out in a suit, Shawn having converted to the Corporation, revealed as the new Commissoner of the World Wrestling Federation last night on RAW is WAR. HBK stood before the crowd as they booed him, Shawn telling them to calm down, he's not on crazy drugs and hasn't been in months! Shawn talked about how last night we suffered to distinguish a number one contender to the WWF Championship, and so the new Commissioner of the WWF had an amazing idea! And it is the Brawl 4-All tournament. Perhaps inspired by an outsider promotion, this features twenty superstars positioned into teams of two. These will be randomly arranged, and only five teams will be victorious in these. The ten superstars in the five teams that win will fight it out in a mini Rumble match, and the winner will go to Breakdown to face Kane. Suddenly, the glass shattered, and Stone Cold Steve Austin started storming down the rampway, the fans cheering loudly as the "Texas Rattlesnake" climbed into the ring and took a microphone, Austin telling Michaels that he better damn well have a position in this Brawl 4-All bullcrap! HBK laughed, telling Austin that he has, then telling Austin that he can't believe that he thought he wouldn't! Austin then warned Shawn, telling him that he won't let go of the fact that he cost him the WWF Championship until HBK's ass is impaled by Austin's boot, and that's a fact! Shawn tells Austin to cool down, after all, if he does do that, he DEFINITELY won't get through the tournament. Why? Because Stone Cold Steve Austin...will be paired with Shawn Michaels! The fans boo loudly as Austin asks Shawn if that is so. Michaels tells him that is the absolute truth.
Suddenly the man that cost Austin the title match last night appeared, walking to the ring with Mr McMahon to even louder boos. Vince told Stone Cold that he wanted him to meet Mike Awesome, the newest addition to the Corporation! Stone Cold tried to go after him, but Awesome blocked it, then tossed him down! Austin rolled back up, eating a big clothesline! The crowd booed as Austin endured the third beatdown in the past seven days. Vince McMahon, Mike Awesome and Shawn Michaels left, the Corporation getting stronger!
-- Commercial Break --
1) Non-Title Match: Owen Hart vs D-Lo Brown |

This was a champion vs champion match, as the "Black Hart" took on the confident second hand man in the Nation, D-Lo Brown having gained so much confidence since winning the WWF Intercontinental Championship back in June. Owen caught D-Lo off-guard, using his experience as the major key factor to outwrestling Brown. Owen soon took Brown out with an enziguri, continuing with hurricanranas. D-Lo soon fought back though, as Brown used his slower pace to keep Hart tamed. D-Lo had Owen locked in a Boston crab, Owen struggling to escape but he started fighting back, Owen slowly regaining momentum after Brown had worked on the back, and the WWF European Champion was getting back in the game. Owen reversed the Sky High and flipped D-Lo around, trying the tombstone piledriver, just for D-Lo to slip out of it and roll up Owen with the tights for three!

Winner: D-Lo Brown @ 5:11 [**1/4]

Owen Hart celebrated his win to loud cheers, the theme of Edge then hitting, the "Black Hart" looking around, and Edge suddenly jumped a barricade! Owen looked at him again, wondering who he was because turning around to receive the Sky High! D-Lo Brown left, the crowd booing. An advertisement aired, promoting the next pay-per-view, Breakdown: In Your House, live on Sunday, September 27th 1998 from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. -- Commercial Break --In the backstage area we see Edge sitting down, as Michael Cole sat next to him trying to get a word. Edge told Cole that he didn't know him, and nobody knows him. Only his brother. Cole asks Edge who his brother is, as Edge seemed distant. Cole continued to try and get a word with him, but to no prevail. 2) Big Bossman vs Dustin Runnels |

The Big Bossman returned several weeks ago as a part of the Corporation, and has only fought one match to date, this being his second match against a rival of the Corporation, Dustin Runnels. Runnels got in several shots as he was determined to get back on track with a win against the enforcer of Mr McMahon's empire. Bossman got in several shots though, Bossman with several bodyshots not giving Runnels much time to catch his breath. Runnels tried to go for the win with the running bulldog though, Bossman blocking it and Runnels ate turnbuckle. Bossman dropped Runnels with a sidewalk slam but rolled out of the ring! Bossman grabbed his nightstick and rolled back in, Runnels recovering and managing to tackle Bossman to the canvas! Runnels reached for his crowbar next to the ring steps and he swung for Bossman, Bossman knocking Runnels down with the nightstick at the exact same time!

Winner: Double Disqualification @ 4:47 [*3/4]

Both men slowly recovered from their weapon shots before Dustin Runnels kicked the nightstick out of the ring! Runnels had the crowbar, bashing Big Bossman over the head with it! Bossman fell out of the ring through the ropes before Runnels celebrated, starting to leave. Kevin Kelly was shown standing by with Yoshihiro Tajiri, Shoichi Funaki and Yamaguchi of Kai En Tai, as Kelly asked Yamaguchi for his thoughts on Abismo Negro taking the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship away from him last Sunday on HeAT. Yamaguchi called Negro an imposter fake, calling him a fraud and a fluke. He says that Negro is not one single person under the mask, and Tajiri will expose him and regain the title in time. The Undertaker was shown in a dark passageway, the "Lord of Darkness" barely visible as his voice echoed, the "Deadman" discussing the Corporation and how much he'd be selling out if he sided with them. They are infinite light. But he cannot join them. He is on a higher platform. The higher power enables him to keep fighting for what he wants. And nothing else. He tells us that tonight, John Tenta will rest in peace, and his quest for the WWF Championship is not over yet. -- Commercial Break --We return to HeAT to see Tom Brandi in the ring, the "Sincere One" talking about how his Open Challenge has not gone down too well with many people. Apparently they don't want to see him in matches, but he still shows up week after week after week. Brandi talks about how he wants to be in the Brawl 4-All tournament, because he is a worthy WWF Champion misguided. But tonight, he will challenge for the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship. One step up in the world for the "Sincere One"! 3) WWF Light Heavyweight Championship: Abismo Negro (c) vs Tom Brandi |

Abismo Negro wasted no time getting into this one, as the "Sincere One" desperately tried to keep involved with this match. Tom Brandi tried a few armdrags but Negro was too damn fast and athletic, knowing the reversal for whatever Brandi had prepared. Negro finally caught Brandi off-guard with a tornado DDT, serious headplant on the DDT, Negro then going up and nailing the frog splash for the victory.

Winner and STILL WWF Light Heavyweight Champion: Abismo Negro @ 2:12 [**1/4]

Abismo Negro celebrated his win to cheers, the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion now knowing however that he was forever to be watched by other light heavyweight wrestlers. Negro however, had just made his first title defence, and remains undefeated! Jerry Lawler and Shane McMahon talked about WWF.com and how much a success it is, revealing that there will be new and exclusive matches to be uploaded on their website every Sunday following HeAT, and usually consists of matches edited out of HeAT, Shotgun Saturday Night and RAW is WAR tapings. We return to the arena as Too Much arrives at ringside, Scott Taylor and Brian Christopher confronting Jerry Lawler. Brian Christopher had a microphone as "Too Sexay" talked about how bad a father he was, and how much he doesn't believe in him. "The King" snatched the microphone and told Christopher that they are not related at all, Christopher is making it up, and he really needs to blame his queer partner "Too Hot" if anybody. Christopher punched Lawler around the face, Jerry getting ready to fight as he got tangled in his headset, Too Much stomping away at Lawler between the barricade and the announce table! Shane McMahon made no effort to help, as Too Much left Lawler on the ground! -- Commercial Break --Michael Hayes came out to replace Jerry Lawler after "The King" was savagely beaten up by Too Much before the commercial. They discussed the situation, then reminded us that RAW is WAR tomorrow is pre-empted, Saturday Night RAW on again this Saturday from 8/9 CT only on USA. 4) John Tenta vs The Undertaker |

John Tenta put up a fight against the "Lord of Darkness", as Undertaker got in several shots but Tenta's massive size caused deficiencies, Tenta working the ribs of the "Deadman" and trying to keep him stable and tamed. The Undertaker soon started fighting back, managing to knock Tenta down with the big flying clothesline, 'Taker setting up Old School just for Tenta to pull him off and slam him. Tenta attempted the bear hug, 'Taker managing to keep conscious and awake, the "Phenom" then breaking out and planting Tenta with a massive Chokeslam! Undertaker covered, and that was all!

Winner: The Undertaker @ 4:24 [**]

The Undertaker celebrated his win, as the "Lord of Darkness" will be in the Brawl 4-All tournament with nineteen other superstars next Saturday on RAW, Sunday Night HeAT goes off the air.

-Mike Awesome joining the Corporation is interesting. His attack on Stone Cold is sure to set up a future match. -D-Lo Brown picking up a victory is cool. Nothing too major, but get's the job done. I like that you are making Heat a fairly relevant show as well. -Innovative way to end this match. I'd bet that there will be a rematch between the two though. -Negro retaining the Light Heavyweight Championship is fine I guess. I have no clue who that is, but your a WWF expert so I'd bet you made the right call. -I like the main event. The Undertaker I'd bet will definitely win the main event next week.

A decent opening segment to kick off Heat, but I don’t like the way Michaels is being written. It doesn’t seem to be his character to me. I do like Mike Awesome being involved with Steve Austin, though. A pretty good win for D’Lo Brown. I can imagine some kind of nightstick vs. crowbar on a pole match or something between Bossman and Rhodes. Tom Brandi is not a Lightweight. Unless I have forgotten, he had to be at least 230lbs but in good shape. I’m liking the Too Much/Lawler angle. A decent main event for Heat, but I don’t get the reason behind jobbing Tenta out after giving him a few big wins in under five minutes. I can’t recall, but I know he beat Austin or Taker in the first place. Sucks that he lost that steam so quickly.

| WWF RAW is WAR: Saturday 12th September 1998 |

Lowell, Massachusetts - Tsongas Arena

We kick off Saturday Night RAW with a replay from last weekend at RAW is WAR as Stone Cold Steve Austin was granted a WWF Championship rematch against Kane by new Commissioner of the World Wrestling Federation, Shawn Michaels. Austin almost came out victorious had it not been for a man later revealed as 'Mike Awesome'. HBK's actions continued as he revealed the Brawl 4-All tournament, a tournament to determine a new contender to the WWF title, and it starts tonight! The opening video package for Saturday Night RAW hit, and we cut to Lowell, Massachusetts where Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler welcome us to the show on the night of the Brawl 4-All!
1) Brawl 4-All Tournament Qualifying Match: The Rock and X-Pac vs Steven Regal and Ken Shamrock |

This was the first of ten tag team matches in the qualifying stage of the tournament, and it showed a ridiculous amount of randomness as the "Brahma Bull" teamed with the man he fought and defeated last week, a part of the Nation's rival faction, X-Pac. Steven Regal of the Corporation meanwhile teamed with the very violent Ken Shamrock, as the "World's Most Dangerous Man" had X-Pac down and he really didn't care who he was, Shamrock wanted to take this opportunity. The Rock soon got the tag, and Shamrock and Rock brawled reminiscent of their feud earlier this year. Steven Regal then got involved, the "Lord of Lords" managing to pin Rock down and pound on him, Regal going right to work on the "Great One". Suddenly Shamrock tagged himself in and quickly dropped X-Pac with the belly-to-back suplex, Shamrock locking in the Ankle Lock as Rock just shrugged and started to leave! X-Pac tapped.

Winners: Ken Shamrock and Steven Regal @ 5:10 [**]

Ken Shamrock celebrated his win by giving Steven Regal a sudden hip toss, the "World's Most Dangerous Man" roaring and yelling about how he wanted to get his hands on Steve Blackman! Steve Blackman was shown in the backstage area as the "Lethal Weapon" simply watched Ken Shamrock on the monitor before leaving. Blackman will be in the Brawl 4-All tournament later tonight! Stone Cole Steve Austin was shown arriving at the arena, the "Texas Rattlesnake" must team with Shawn Michaels if he wants to get another WWF Championship opportunity, and Austin of course had several things on his mind, as he was going to discuss all of them tonight! -- Commercial Break --Kevin Kelly was shown standing by with Al Snow as Kelly asked Snow about his involvement in the Brawl 4-All tournament, Snow talking about how he has been very underestimated by many in the World Wrestling Federation because of his relationship with Head, but they are all jealous of him anyway! Rob Van Dam and Sabu then appeared, RVD telling Snow that he really is crazy. RVD tells Snow that he's going to be teaming with him, so he's heard. "Mr Monday Night" tells Al that he better not mess things up tonight, or he would get 'Van Daminated'!

This was an interesting match as one-half of the WWF Tag Team Champions was involved teaming with a rival team in the Oddities, Prince Albert. Edge and Owen Hart have developed a strange relationship this past week, and the "Black Hart" seemed unsure whether to trust the loner Edge, Edge however managing to prove himself strong against Albert despite his smaller frame. Albert managed to pound away at Owen though, setting up for the Torture Rack Slam on the WWF European Champion just for Edge to spear Albert down and Owen grabbed the win!

Winners: Edge and Owen Hart @ 3:52 [*3/4]

Edge and Owen Hart celebrate their win to loud cheers, Edge taking the WWF European Championship and eyeing it down before handing it to the "Black Hart". Owen raises Edge's hand victorious as Edge still seemed intrigued by the title belt of Owen's. D-Generation X were shown in the backstage area with Michael Cole, excluding Road Dogg of course, as Cole asks leader, Triple H about this feud brewing with the Nation. Hunter talks about how he has had a rough month, because he's taken out his former best friend Shawn Michaels, and now has the Nation down their throats, but the thing is with the Nation is that they are in fact a bunch of crooks! Triple H talks about how X-Pac and Road Dogg weren't able to advance but it doesn't matter, because he's been talking to a higher up, and they've agreed to give D-Generation X a match with the Nation at Breakdown! Billy Gunn talks about how ticked off he is with the Nation members, and how the Rock needs a pipe shoved up his ass! DX will dominate the night from here. -- Commercial Break --An advertisement aired, promoting WWF Breakdown: In Your House, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, September 27th 1998 from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Kurrgan was in the ring as we returned to RAW is WAR, the theme of Jeff Jarrett hitting, "Double J" walking out to the ring and asking if this was really his big tag team partner. Jarrett asks if the randomizer was by any chance wrong because Kurrgan is a dumb sh*t! Jarrett talks about how he is so much superior than this imbecile and he doesn't care what Kurrgan thinks, in fact he probably isn't thinking at all! Jarrett stood in the ring with the colourful Kurrgan, Jarrett daring Kurrgan to prove himself, demanding Kurrgan not to piss him off. And Kurrgan grabbed Jarrett, giving him a one-handed Chokeslam! 3) Brawl 4-All Tournament Qualifying Match: Jeff Jarrett and Kurrgan vs Val Venis and Dustin Runnels |

Jeff Jarrett spent a large amount of this match outside of the ring recovering from Kurrgan's Chokeslam, "Double J" having crossed the massive Kurrgan but perhaps Kurrgan needed help, as Dustin Runnels and Val Venis wrestled like a well-oiled machine, teaming up to weaken Kurrgan down. Kurrgan soon regained momentum however, the big Chokeslam getting set up for the "Big Valbowski". Dustin Runnels managed to chop block Kurrgan in the leg though, and suddenly Jeff Jarrett swung his guitar and laid out Kurrgan, his own teammate! Dustin dropped Kurrgan with a running bulldog, Val Venis then climbing to the top and nailing the Money Shot for the win!

Winners: Val Venis and Dustin Runnels @ 4:21 [*1/4]

Val Venis and Dustin Runnels celebrated their win, as the "Big Valbowski" seemed quite confident as teammates. Kurrgan remained down as Jeff Jarrett rolled out of the ring, "Double J" deciding that he didn't need the big man or the WWF Championship opportunity. Kane and Paul Bearer were shown in the backstage area, the "Big Red Machine" standing with the WWF Championship on his shoulder comfortably. Bearer talked about how there are forty men competing for a shot at the WWF Champion, but what they all don't see is that no matter who wins, new enemy or old, they will all have their dreams crushed by the "Big Red Machine". Vader was shown walking up a corridor, and up next the big mastodon will team up with the "Lord of Darkness" to take on Mike Awesome, in Awesome's debut, and Tom Brandi! Next. -- Commercial Break --4) Brawl 4-All Tournament Qualifying Match: Tom Brandi and Mike Awesome vs Vader and The Undertaker |

Tonight the "Lord of Darkness" proved once again how much winning the WWF Championship again meant to him. The "Deadman" was adventurous though, taking the fight to Mike Awesome, Awesome standing quite well up against the Undertaker as the "Phenom" tried the Chokeslam early on, Awesome breaking his grip and tossing 'Taker around. Awesome showed a lot of tenacity and power, showcasing why he is in the Corporation right here. Vader got the tag and he gave Awesome many stiff lefts and rights, the mastodon seemingly indestructible as Vader wanted pay-back after Awesome debuted assaulting Vader at SummerSlam. The "Sincere" Tom Brandi tagged himself in, the Italian stereotype's big opportunity as Awesome clotheslined Vader right over the top rope with big shock, 'Taker in the ring giving Brandi a Tombstone Piledriver for the easy win.

Winners: The Undertaker and Vader @ 5:12 [**]

The Undertaker celebrated, rolling out of the ring and headed up the rampway, the "Lord of Darkness" another step towards the WWF Championship. 'Taker didn't turn back as Mike Awesome continued to hammer away at Vader, Awesome trying to set up the Awesome Bomb (powerbomb) through the announce table but many officials got Awesome off of him. Awesome took a steel chair instead and slammed it right into the skull of Vader! Awesome left, big smirk on his face. Mr McMahon was shown with Shane McMahon and Shawn Michaels as well as Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco, McMahon talking about how Mike Awesome was the man to bring the Corporation into the 21st century! McMahon continued to praise Awesome before the "Heartbreak Kid" stood up, Shawn Michaels mentioning how he had to get ready, Shane, Pat and Gerald wishing Michaels "luck" winning with Stone Cold! -- Commercial Break --The glass shattered and Stone Cold Steve Austin made his way out to the ring, the "Texas Rattlesnake" climbing into the ring and talking about how tonight's all tipped upside down, there's tag team partners that don't belong turning on each other, what is this? Austin tells us that Stone Cold came to Lowell, Massachusetts for one thing and one thing only, that is to win the match tonight, and then go to Breakdown and win the WWF Championship back! The crowd cheered, Mankind suddenly interrupting Austin. Mankind asked Stone Cold if he actually believes that Steve Austin has a better chance than he has of winning the Brawl 4-All tournament. Austin tells Mankind that he better believe, because there's not a damn in Hell that he will lose tonight. Mankind asked if that was really the truth knowing that he has an enormous partner in this tournament, and it will be damn hard for Austin to get past. And Shawn Michaels is with Austin? Mankind tells Steve to get out of dream land, because tonight will be Mankind's night and no other's! Steve tells Mankind that he can say whatever the hell he wants to say, regardless Stone Cold will always be better than Mankind, unless he manages him to prove him wrong! Austin asked Mankind if there was something he wanted to do, Mankind shaking his head, then applying the Mandible Claw suddenly! Mankind got booed as he pinned Austin in the corner, Austin fighting back out and dropping Mankind with the Stunner! Austin left with two Steveweisers, and Austin teams with Shawn Michaels in under an hour! We cut to a recorded clip from earlier tonight, as Jacqueline was shown getting out of the shower earlier tonight, wearing nothing but a towel and looking for her clothes, not being able to find them! Jacqueline started screaming for her clothes drawing the attention of various WWF staff members in the backstage area. Sable was shown standing with Sunny, the two smiling. Sable was asked by Michael Hayes if it was her that had Jacqueline angry beyond words earlier tonight, definitely taking the blame. Sunny told Hayes that they were about to introduce a new member of the WWF womens division, Starla Saxton! Saxton appeared, another blonde girl that was wearing a blue singlet and tights, Saxton introducing herself as a hard-working young woman with the ambition and the build to be a WWF Womens Champion! On September 27th, make way for Starla! -- Commercial Break --5) Non-Title Match: D-Lo Brown (w/The Godfather and Hos) vs Billy Gunn |

Billy Gunn is still scheduled for the Brawl 4-All tournament, most likely occurring next week. "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn had to compete solo tonight, but what an opportunity against the WWF Intercontinental Champion, D-Lo Brown. Brown was taken a step back by the fast, hard-hitting style of Gunn, Gunn managing to scare Brown out of the ring several times near the beginning of the match. Brown soon caught Gunn off guard, working away at the ribs, D-Lo definitely using that chest protector to his advantage throughout this match. Brown got set up for Sky High but Gunn kicked Brown in the head, following with a bit dropkick. Gunn set up the Fame-Asser, Brown avoiding it and rolling Gunn up with the tights, grabbing the win!

Winner: D-Lo Brown @ 5:23 [**1/4]

D-Lo Brown celebrated his win as the crowd booed, but it wouldn't last as Billy Gunn dropped the WWF Intercontinental Champion with the Fame-Asser, "Bad Ass" Billy then being attacked by the Godfather! Hunter and Billy Gunn stood in the ring representing DX. Meanwhile, in the backstage area we see a massive brawl as the Nation and D-Generation X members were getting right into it! Road Dogg, X-Pac and Chyna traded fists, fists flying everywhere just about as they fought with Mark Henry, The Rock and Rikishi Phatu. D-Lo Brown and The Godfather joined the fight, the equation becoming uneven! The Nation started beating down on DX, Chyna even being manhandled as Rikishi clotheslined her down! DX were left down and out, Triple H and Billy Gunn then heard yelling, the two conscious DX members running up to the scene carrying a lead pipe and a chain! The Nation had just bested DX! -- Commercial Break --Steve Blackman was shown in the backstage area, Michael Hayes asking the "Lethal Weapon" about his stand against Ken Shamrock. Blackman tells Hayes that Ken Shamrock calls himself the "World's Most Dangerous Man", but is he really? Blackman calls Shamrock a mere wannabe. He's a shell of his mixed martial artistic past, and he needs to see who the future is! Steve Blackman! Suddenly Ken Shamrock appeared, telling Blackman that he's going to approach this situation calm, because he wants to save his rage for a match between the two. Blackman smirked, Shamrock inviting him to a bout at Breakdown: In Your House on September 27th. Blackman gladly accepts, stating that he couldn't wait to ground and pound Shamrock. 6) Brawl 4-All Tournament Qualifying Match: Al Snow and Rob Van Dam (w/Bill Alfonso and Sabu) vs TAKA Michinoku and Big Bossman (w/Steven Regal and John Tenta) |

An interesting match as Big Bossman seemed incredibly out of place in this match. The sixth out of ten qualifying matches of this tournament, Al Snow and Rob Van Dam having had words earlier on tonight. TAKA Michinoku and Al Snow fought extremely well, Snow outwrestling Michinoku and slowing the pace of the bout down. Michinoku however managed to fight back moments later, Michinoku catching Snow with several hurricanranas. Rob Van Dam and Big Bossman soon went at it, the "Whole F'N Show" with a monkey flip to Bossman impressing many. RVD nailed the Rolling Thunder soon after, Van Dam preparing the Five-Star Frog Splash and connecting! RVD got the cover and grabbed the win. John Tenta dropped the Avalanche on RVD, Sabu getting in the exchange and going after the "Lord of Lords" just for Regal to knee Sabu right in the face! The Corporation stood tall as Al Snow looked scared, hiding behind the ring apron and cuddling Head. Mankind was shown in the boiler room as he was rocking himself back and forth, the deranged one talking to himself about victory tonight, and he seemed so fully motivated and obsessed with the WWF Championship. He then mentioned Triple H's name and the fans cheered, Hunter being Mankind's tag partner for the main event!? -- Commercial Break --Shane McMahon was shown in the Gorilla position, greeting Steven Regal, John Tenta, Big Bossman and Jeff Jarrett with a grin on his face, congratulating them on taking out Rob Van Dam and Sabu.

It was the War Zone, and thus it was quite clear that the women of the World Wrestling Federation would be in action. Starla Saxton bit off what Jacqueline thought the rookie couldn't chew. Jacqueline tried to underestimate Starla but Saxton just kept getting back into it and matching Jacqueline in her athletic nature. Saxton nailed a handspring elbow with perfection, but Luna Vachon got involved trying to help Jackie to victory. Jacqueline tried the tornado DDT but Sable got on the apron and pulled down the pants of Jacqueline revealing her thong, and Starla dropped Jackie with a northern lights suplex, getting the three!

This was a heated match as the "Texas Rattlesnake" Stone Cold Steve Austin teamed with his former uneasy ally in the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Michaels having cost Austin the WWF Championship back at SummerSlam. Austin and Michaels, the former WWF Tag Team Champions have also had problems with Mankind and Triple H respectively as of late, Hunter still having business with Shawn as the Commissioner was beaten by him back on August 30th. Austin stomped a mudhole in the ass of Mankind but the deranged one kept fighting back, Triple H and Shawn Michaels fighting punch and punch, HBK attempting to swipe a sneaky three count to no prevail. Hunter soon managed to gain momentum as he prepared the Pedigree, but The Rock appeared at ringside with D-Lo Brown, both of them signalling for Hunter to 'bring it'!
