I'm halfway through watching Summerslam '89 and really enjoying it. The card had some pretty special talent and my favorite match so far has to be The Hart Foundation vs. The Brain Busters and Dusty Rhodes vs. HTM. Also the start of Mr. Perfect was here.
Warrior vs. Rude is just starting now....(not sure the main event will be good - I can't remember as this is the first time I've seen it again in probably 18 years).
It made me appreciate Arn & Tully after watching the Rise & Fall of WCW and Starrcade DVDs and wondered why they didn't stay in the WWF longer.
And Tony Schiavone commentating still feels strange in the WWF.
Warrior coming to the ring now... so what are your thoughts on Summerslam 1989!?

Great show, one of the better earlier SummerSlam's in all honesty. It's a little weird though, especially with the commentary team of Tony and Jesse and the fact that the WWF Tag Team titles weren't defended in the Busters-Harts match. The main event leaves you feeling like the IC title match should've closed out though.

Always has been and always will be my favorite PPV of all time... There just aren't enuf words for me to describe how much I love Summerslam 1989... Not only is it my favorite PPV, but Warrior vs. Rude is also my favorite match ever... I think the main reason I hold the PPV in such high regard is because I was just a little tike when it came out and I had it on VHS; I'm pretty sure I watched it everyday for like a year straight haha... It's been far too long since I've sat down and watched it... I might have to do that in the very near future

LOVE 89 WWF.
and yeah Summerslam 89 is a cracker.
absolutely LOVE Demolition and Duggan vs Twin Towers and Andre.
Demolition get the second biggest pop of the night after Hogan here AGAIN.
Tully and Arn didnt stick around because they were headed back to WCW for the 4H reunion-but Blanchard failed a drug test which pushed him out of WWF quicker than planned-hence his absence from Survivor Series 89

One of the first videos i watched that got me into wrestling.
As a young kid i used to laugh so hard when Warrior escaped the cage, i didn't really realise at the time it was the way to win!
