he had some great matches against Benoit on RAW and SmackDown one week in May 2001, if you can find them vs. Benoit vs. Jericho at King of the Ring 2001 vs. Kurt Angle at SummerSlam 2001 and Unforgiven 2001 vs. Angle vs. RVD at Unforgiven 2001
and for his original heel run vs. Savio Vega at In Your House: Beware of Dog vs. Marc Mero at In Your House: International Incident vs. Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1996 and WrestleMania 13 (he was technically heel)

If Summerslam 2001 had a real finish, it may have taken MOTY honors. I'd also look for the Rock vs. Stone Cold at Rebellion 2001, if you ever want to see Rock vs. Austin with Austin as a full-fledged heel the entire match.

I'm bout to bust that out right now and watch it lol.

I still need to get Rebellion at some point I really, really loved 2001 heel Stone Cold. It's such a shame that the WWF lost all it's momentum and general creativity that year because Austin was an amazing heel. His slowed down heel themes were cool but to me there's something so badass about him still use the Disturbed theme because he was so unpredictably violent and it fit perfectly.

One of if not my favorite wrestling theme of all time. I thought he should have continued to use it throughout his career. But they went back to the original theme when he returned.

hated 2001 Heel Austin with every fibre of my person and not in the way I was supposed to.
but onto the question-all of the above Matches were indeed very good especially the two with Angle.
I dont know if anyone has had as many great matches as Kurt Angle lads.........he is still the highlight(by far)of TNA and often makes their PPVs worth watching.

I got chills watching his intro and kind of sad watching that match with Austin and Summerslam 2001... I can't believe that it's been almost 10 years since that happened... I think I stopped watching wrestling in around 2005; watching matches like that make me really miss when wrestling was AWESOME

The Kurt Angle match from SS 01 is def the best imo. I also liked the backlash 01 match of austin and hhh vs taker and kane.

That shouldn't even count because he wasn't a heel the entire time.

So? It started the heel turn, so I think it counts

The crowd was on fire, Benoit was a machine like always and Austin was just vicious (see front suplexes onto the announce table) Part 1 Part 2

Heel Austin vs Face Angle are some of the best matches from 2001. Agreed. Hell people shoot down the Invasion angle because the way WCW was displayed, but I was never a fan of that company outside the original NWO and Vader. Austin as the militant leader was amazing, Angle as the all American hero was amazing, and the seed of doubt planted between Austin and the alliance was amazing. Not only that, but the fued made Angle a top name. It's a shame they did the Angle turn thing because it ruined things. You can keep your DDPs, Goldbergs, and other WCW "stars". This feud was worth watching the rest of the invasion bs.

I actually loved the ending. It made it seem like Austin couldn't beat Angle, which made Angle look amazing. Plus Kurt's reaction to being screwed was fantastic. He just snapped, showing off the he had intensity
