So I posted a rant and deleted it because wishing the board was in a better state is what we all want. Instead, I ask you this.
What are the top 3 things you look for in a great pic fed?
Personally, - I look for the Champion to be a strong representation of what that particular federation is all about. - A very distinct arena. - Decent quality photos.

Something that sets your Fed apart from every other one. Just one thing that when your Fed is brought up, it makes someone say "Oh yeah, the Fed with/that does _____!"
Strong Writing (Promos/Commentary)
Branching Storylines connecting characters in one place with other characters in another place.

All good criteria. Personally I like Clarity of pictures, cleanliness of your arena, and then poses. Not everyone can do or wants to do flash, so I kinda leave that one out.

A few members here posted their very first show's and although they did not put as much thought, effort and creativity into their respective shows as say the RicFlair Wrestling show, they did not get responses from you. Not to nitpick, but if you want to make this board a better place, comment of actual shows rather than spam shows, and stop trying to get the point across that you are not complaining when you clearly are.

June, I'll be replying to your show once it's complete. I personally don't like watching shows in parts because i would forget what had happened in part one once i get to part 2. I'll leave you a very thorough one I promise! I'm actually looking forward to your show!

I for one color myself surprised, in the eve of Mattel taking over and Jakks launching TNA I thought there would be a new flow of Pic Feds with people taking advantage of the new figs coming out, and I have seen very little of this happen. I think you are the only one putting out shows on a some what regular schedule, and your figs are R3. Not knocking that down, just saying it's funny that with new figs coming out and all, people are just not tempted to make feds.
I think the 3 things that catch my eye in a fed are:
- Good pics - Good showing of the toys (figures, rings, setups, custom stuff, etc.) - 3 has to be that something that makes a Fed stand apart and be original, like Dallas said.
I love the Feds that had a unique feel to them, like Black Shirt Man's Power Hour of Power, PWF, Warsman's Fed (because of the unexpected storylines like time traveling machines and such) and such and the awesome Chinese wrestling show that kicked butt until he started posting it on his own site.
I think that all criticism is good, but maybe not everybody is showing a Pic Fed to be told the same old same old: "Poses could be better", "Use string", yada yada yada...
I know that's the case for me. I just wanted to post a show and if you like it good, if you don't good, because it's a show I do for fun, my fun. I can take the criticism, but that's not what I posted the show for, I just posted it to say "hey, I made a show if anybody cares, maybe you see something you like or amuses you or gives you an idea to make something your own" and to win a Sting fig while I was at it. Now I found myself making an alternate version to please those who didn't like the comic book format I originally made, making 3 matches when I just wanted to do maybe 1 match shows, thinking that Mole Man and Chris Angry should be Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, and that if I introduce Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit later on, people will bash me for "using the same wrestler twice" since I used them on the first show, as different characters altogether, and thinking that Kidman should have done a Shooting Star Press instead of a moonsault.
Not everybody likes to pose with string, not everybody likes to build kick ass sets and arenas (I still think at least use a nice little black background instead of giving me the kitchen tour, but that's just me), not everybody likes to write commentary or come up with intense feuds and plots with subplots that have subplots in their subplots and extend for years, not everybody likes 300 image matches where every single move is choreographed and depicted but I think everybody wants to do their thing, have fun and share with people who are supposed to share the same hobby and that's just not really happening here lately (for pic fedder and pic fedder repliers and pic fedders watchers).
My two cents...

It's hard to pinpoint what I like, but I know what I don't like... but I'll try... #1. I know I like uniqueness. Ardilla's show was unique in it's presentation, and I liked what he was trying to do (and did do). Tirva's is unique in many aspects, most notably his ability to churn them out pretty regularly. The TWA stuff is unique in it's old school feel and use of characters I personally care about. #2. I know I like clean pictures that hold some detail #3. I know I like and appreciate commentary that has few typos, swears and is character appropriate. Nothing screams "amateur" more (to me) then seeing a show filled with F-bombs and misspelled words. Ardilla, I hope you keep with it. I hope you don't feel like you need to change YOUR show ever again to fit someone else's vision of what they think YOUR show should be. Do what you like and have fun doing it. If people are doing this for "fame and glory" or some sense of ego or pride, you're in for some serious disappointment. Even at the best of times, this forum wasn't great at shows getting good replies, neither in quality nor quantity. You just gotta take what you get. Long ago when I first started fedding, I felt bummed over the 1,000 views and 8 replies I got. I quit fedding (and moved on to other hobbies). This time I decided to just tell the few stories I really wanted to tell, have fun, try to make something different that people would still like to see. I eliminated the replies equals success mentality that I had (and I may have led to me not replying as much as other people wished I would) and just went about making shows (albeit, yeah, very slowly). That's my story. Wars

As a new pic fedder I originally though it was a huge pain in the butt to shoot and put together a show. After seeing the finished product though I now enjoy it. There are few people on here that will give you props for your work, and will probably more than likely tear it down, but I actually like doing it. It's funny, my site became such a huge hit with my friends and coworkers that I actually get requests to do more shows! Here's what I like in a pic fed:
Nice arena setup Decent photos Good represantation of your figs Lastly something different that you can bring whether it be different wrestlers that no one else is using or a unique arena that no one has seen before. If everyone uses all the same guys that everyone else is using nothing sets your fed apart from the others. And at least use a plain black background and not on the bedroom floor. Use a table or desk or something to set it up. Nothing screams amateur more than seeing a fed on a carpeted floor.

I look for originality, a nice setup, and unique figures.
The most important thing for me is that the wrestlers featured in the fig fed use similar moves and dialog that their human counterparts use/used.
The show must also have something that appeals to me from the moment I first see it, otherwise just like a TV viewer, I turn the channel.

I can understand your views, but i think a little bit of originality is a must as well. For example, reinventing a character. Such as WWEFAN reinventing Kane, and John Cena. I think this shows they have better booking than using the same old formula seen on TV, and copying the moves and actions of a certain wrestler. Although i can see your point, and someone like Tirva has Jerichos personality down to a tee.

Creativity/Originality - I like people making up their own characters, people giving guys a different gimmick than they have on tv, making up new tag teams, etc. Same goes for storylines, like Warsman's time machine storyline.
Clear pics - Have to see what's happening.
Hmmm, for my third I'd probably say good poses. I started on the posing board years ago, so I'm a sucker for good posing.

ardillita, that was very well put. I too hope you stick with it, Your shows are a welcomed edition to the board.
Warsman, well said as well. I sometimes felt the way youd did, but you have a good positive perspective that I think everyone would benefit from trying once in awhile
On a side note, I think we've got some strength coming back to this board. let;s keep it up guys!
