I never knew Hogan was supposed to be in the match so that surprises me, thanks for the info. As for the feud/match with Brock Lesnar and Big Show, I thought it was awesome. It was done really well, I still think Brock shoulda won but still it was great. Brock Lesnar was so damn hot at the time and it just made for a great match. Fair play to Big Show as its been said previously. I miss WWE like this, late 2002-2004 was awesome. 2004-2007 wasn't bad, ever since I just can't watch it properly except for Wrestlemania which is tradition

Lesnar vs. Hogan was the original plan, but Hogan insisted on winning the belt at Vince wasn't going to make THAT mistake again after his Undisputed Title run bombed months before. The plan became either Benoit vs. Lesnar or Big Show vs. Lesnar, and so WWE decided to pull Show out of jobbing on RAW and turn him into something. People forget what he lost cause he seemed to be by that point and it really is impressive how he and WWE turned things around in regards to his career. That's one theory. Another one is that Hogan agreed to put Lesnar over on Smackdown, in a very dominating fashion, in return getting the title win at MSG for Survivor Series 2002. It would have made sense in theory, since Hogan's book was coming out at the same time of Survivor Series and it would have given him a big homecoming win at MSG. Then, Hogan would drop it back to him later on. However, McMahon was so insistent on that not happening, Hogan didn't return as scheduled at the end of 2002 and he went ahead and jobbed Lesnar out to Big Show. This was the first big mistake in Lesnar's booking because it was a forced face turn and it broke up the chemistry he had with Heyman. Losing to Hogan in MSG and winning it back later would have done more for Lesnar than doing the Big Show/Heyman split and feud. In addition, its easy to rip on Hogan's 2002 title reign. However, it is important to note that he was the champion when the split happened. It didn't matter who the champion was when that happened, an effect on the ratings was going to occur. Its not like any champion had a significant amount of success as champion in 2002 after WrestleMania. Going by the ratings, Shawn Michaels had the lowest ratings of the champions in 2002.

I think this match told a great story and it was one of the last great classics WWE has put on in reference to Survivor Series as a whole.

Off topic but why did Big show start wearing like the singlet and trousers around that time?

I know that alot of people usuaslly hate this era but 2002-2005 was my favorite "era" of wrestling. The match quality was much better than the attitude era's and the storylines still had "attitude" to them, especially from 2002-2003. They just didn't push the envelope like they did during the attitude era.
As for the Lesnar/Big Show feud, I was a big fan of it. I remember at No Mercy seeing Big Show tell Bischoff what we were all thinking, "why the hell was Big Show being wasted?" Him "debuting" on Smackdown was awsome when he threw Taker off the stage. While I prefer Lesnar as a heel, he was so over w/ the crowd that it made sense to turn him face for a bit(though I would have had him remain a heel and have a heel vs heel feud w/ him and Show, and him and Angle). Heyman did an amazing job turning Big Show from a jobber on Raw to the WWE Champion on Smackdown w/in a month, and showed why he is one of the best minds this business has ever seen.

Absolutely loved this era, especially Smackdown. Anyone else remember Show chucking Rey Mysterio like 4 rows into the crowd?

I also loved Show winning the title, but I was okay w/ him being a transitional champion. They needed to get the title on Angle w/out him actually fighting Lesnar, and Show and Angle put on a great match at Armagedon. I also loved Show's ECW title reign in 2006. He was pushed as unstopable and that is how Vince should have always pushed him.

I loved all the Lesnar-Show matches. It was like seeing a younger, more athletic version of Hogan-Andre. I still miss Lesnar. He could have been of the biggest stars of all time.

Off topic but why did Big show start wearing like the singlet and trousers around that time? The question should be why was he ever wearing trunks in the first place?

WWE just pushed him as you said unstoppable!

I've heard this several times, but I never saw the exact reasons. Why was Hogan's reign considered a bomb? Ratings? Matches?

the Haters. 2002 Big Evil Undertaker was great. Just a big nasty guy, who only thinks of himself, and beats the **** out of people. Never knew that Hogan was suppose to be in the Survivor Series match though...

Never knew that Hogan was suppose to be in the Survivor Series match though... I 100% agree w/ the Taker thing. I loved his American Badass and Big Evil gimmicks. His Deadman character had gotten stale and his biker gimmick was a great refresher for his character. His and Brock's feud in 2002 was off the chart.

He should have been booked like Andre where pinfall/submission losses were few and far between.

The Lesnar/Taker HIAC match is still my favorite HIAC match to this day. The match is designed to keep the two opponents confined/trapped and to beat the holy hell out of your opponent. Going to the roof, though entertaining, never made sense to me because the cell was designed to keep the guys locked in together. Lesnar and Taker beat the hell out of eachother in a very, very stiff match that put Lesnar over as truely the Next Big Thing.
