I've often brought up this topic with other fans in real life conversations and it is usually a good one. What finishers have always made you cringe? What are the ones that make you fear for the safety of the guy taking it or make you glad you aren't the guy taking it?
My list:
1) The Banzai Drop. 600+ lbs hovering, then dropping, then sitting. 'Nuff said. Had Yoko ever completely slipped, he could have killed someone.
2) Goldberg's spear. Old Bill never seemed to care about his opponent when it was time to end the match. It wouldn't have surprised me to see blood fly from someone's mouth.
3)The Russian Sickle- I don't know if Nikita was just good at this move or if he was stiffing people as hard as he appeared to be.
4) Vader's Power Bomb. Mick Foley and Sting can both attest to how much force Vader applied to this.
5) The Pounce. Like Golberg, Monty Brown was a former football player so you knew he could lay the lumber. Like Goldberg, he seemed to unload on opponents.
6) The Sudanese Meat Cleaver. Until he got really old, Abdullah The Butcher would get surprising elevation when delivering this. Like Yoko, I always thought that a miscalculation could lead to a real injury.
7) The Arabian Facebuster. With the chair behind his legs, it never looked to me like Sabu had the greatest amount of control over this move.
8) The Pedigree- This move always makes me think about the Charles Austin incident. HHH has been delivering it safely for years but when he tried to deliver it to Kurt Angle on a table in 2000, the table broke prematurely and Kurt was knocked out legitimately.
9) Warrior's Gorilla Press. I hated this move and I'm guessing most opponents did too. Warrior would just launch people over his head and let them drop on their face.
10) Macho Man's top-rope elbow. As his career wore on, Savage's hip took a pounding. I remember reading that several WCW wrestlers complained to him about landing on their ribs instead of absorbing the blow himself. That doesn't sound like fun.
