I just read the report surrounding the death of Luna Vachon, which at the moment has been declared drug overdose.
Now I have to say these deaths and their causes sadden me. While I don't cry, I do feel a little loss inside of me as I watch the superstars I grew up watching, passing way too soon.
Bigelow, Luna, Sherri, Mr. Perfect, Crush, Benoit, Rude, Test, Hercules, A-Wall, Bulldog, Hawk, Eddie, and the list goes on and on and is only growing. While many have passed due to natural causes, there are far more deaths resulting from drugs and/or alcohol.
Now I have to ask, is this is what us older fans are bracing for? Superstars passing far too soon and due to preventable circumstances?

Honestly for the most part I have to side with WWE when it comes to deaths via recreational drugs. Wrestlers families love to blame the big bad WWE for everything and they do it for 1 reason. So they can sue and get money. Truth is, the wrestlers are the ones to blame. 1)You choose to go into that line of work knowing what you're getting yourself into. Its no different then an NFL rookie knowing in 10 years his knees are gonna be shot. 2) For every Hennig, Guerrero and Rude that dies because of recreational drugs that they were "forced to take" after years of being in the ring, there is a Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man etc that worked the same schedules that didnt screw themselves up constantly in the back.

You sum it up so well. Though I sometimes don't agree with decisions that The Fed makes, I also have to side with them on this point. Does it sucks, yes quite a bit, but you cannot blame Vince, or the WWE in general for a persons recreation drug use.

Vince and crew have been doing all they can to get wrestlers help [Wellness Policy, offering rehab, reemployment of former Superstars (Atlas, Hacksaw) to make back some of the cash wasted on drugs], I don't see how anyone can put the blame on the business itself for what they do with their own bodies.

You know what... it's getting to a point to where I have more anger than sadness. D-Lo Brown said it best in his shoot. They asked him to comment on the "tragic passing of Test". He never said it saddened him once. He said it pissed him off. And Test was his friend. That says a lot. It's really starting to piss me off as well when I see "so and so passes away". I honestly have no compassion for anyone who dies from drugs now. Not only are they ending their lives but for those who have children, they're going to grow up without a parent due to ing drugs because of the carelessness of their parent. My compassion ended in 2003. After 2003, people should have gotten the message. It's Goddamn depressing. Call me morbid or heartless. I don't care. Something has got to give.

Its tragic no doubt. But yeah, the wrestlers know what they're getting into I think. Although the only thing I could ever knock on Vince is the push for everyone to hit the needle to get bigger (roids). Now I'm not blaming it all on him, I know there are plenty of guys who were juicing on there own free will. But I think that he is part of the formula that made that "look" so common amongst pro wrestlers.

Simple:
Don't do drugs. That's what they teach you in school.

Simple: Don't do drugs. That's what they teach you in school. But some of these aren't drug drugs, they are prescription medications.

I don't blame WWE or Vince for the deaths. I think most of the 80's and early-90's wrestlers liked living the lifestyle of a rockstar and sadly it included drugs. I think most grew out of it while many others just dug deeper into the scene.

The amount of drugs that were used in the late 80s and early 90s in the WWF were out of control. Any time you watch an edition of superstars pay close attention to the promos, I'd say about 90% of the time the superstar had blown a line within the last 15 minutes. A combonation of pain killers and cocaine may not kill you immediately but it absolutely does permanent damage to your heart.
